Competitive Teams

I was wondering if you can put every competitive team into one page, so like all the LUTI teams and EndGames go all in one page so it would be easier to edit, or is there one already? gtKaged 9:59, 10 April 2016.

Isn't that just Category:Teams? MindWanderer (talk) 21:03, 26 April 2016 (UTC)

Walkthrough Collaboration

I was wondering if anyone would like to work together to properly finish writing the walkthrough sections for the Octo Valley missions?--Snowwarrior92 06:20, 15 April 2016 (UTC)

Competitive callouts

We should have callouts for all the stages. User:Kjhf/Sig 02:16, 23 April 2016 (UTC)

Map overviews with callouts can be found here. Some overviews are missing labels and some of the callouts are unnecessarily detailed, but it's a good starting point if someone wants to create some images with streamlined callouts. Heddy (talk) 22:48, 23 April 2016 (UTC)

I made the Callouts page, and I put my squad's labeled map overviews there. Callouts aren't universally agreed on for maps, but hopefully those are good enough examples. Heddy (talk) 20:57, 16 May 2016 (UTC)

Fonts for signature?

How do I do fonts? Do I just type them up in Word? Mygame34 (talk) 21:31, 23 April 2016 (UTC) 04:30, 23 April 2016 (CT)

You can use some HTML tags with CSS, like this. However, only fonts supported on the viewer's browser will be displayed properly. MindWanderer (talk) 21:03, 26 April 2016 (UTC)

gridlines vs. no gridlines

Which of these looks better? File:Quick Super Jump vs Quick Respawn Chart.png or File:Suction Bomb Ink Saver Berry Splattershot Pro Chart.png. I just don't know whether these should have an uninterrupted flow of colors or tidy gridlines. Heddy (talk) 00:56, 27 April 2016 (UTC)

I personally think that the chart without the gridlines looks much better than the one with the girdlines.--Snowwarrior92 01:07, 27 April 2016 (UTC)

Hmmm... I think it looks nicer without, but if it's too hard to read you could try playing with the colors of the lines. White might be cute. --Bzeep! talk 03:22, 27 April 2016 (UTC)
That's 2 squids so far that prefer no gridlines. I don't actually know if readability is an issue so that's why I'm asking. Here's some tests with white and other colors. Heddy (talk) 23:09, 27 April 2016 (UTC)
The version without outlines isn't very easy to read as a thumbnail, but it looks great. I would go with Bzeep's suggestion of changing the outline color to be less intrusive. Nyargleblargle.pngNyargleblargle (Contribs) 23:16, 27 April 2016 (UTC)

Inkling Photos

I've got several photos of various Inklings found within my plaza. I was wondering if we could potentially use them somewhere on the site?--Snowwarrior92 02:12, 7 May 2016 (UTC)

Sorry for the late reply; I've been pretty busy lately. To answer your question, I'd advise not uploading them unless they depict something that we don't have a lot of pictures for. Nyargleblargle.pngNyargleblargle (Contribs) 15:16, 16 May 2016 (UTC)
That's alright, I've been pretty busy myself. Thanks for clearing that up and I will go over the photos and look for photos that sight doesn't have.--Snowwarrior92 02:30, 17 May 2016 (UTC)

How can I make helpful edits?

Hello. I've been on Inkipedia for a while, and some of my edits seem to be reverted. Does anyone have tips for me to make helpful edits?

(P.S. I would also like a moderation template.)

All Hail Webmaster Prod! 15:14, 21 May 2016 (UTC)

What I like to do is click the random page button then see if there is anything I can fix on whatever page I get. Mostly just small grammar mistakes, but sometimes there's formatting problems or more images needed. Also, you can always check out the "How can I help" page. It lists all the stubs, badly written articles, pages in need of images, and the like. Hope that helps! ;) Skylar (talk) 03:39, 26 May 2016 (UTC)
Try looking at the New pages list and efiting pages there. I find that the newer pages have a lot more spelling, grammar and punctuation mistakes; thpos; and need more information.

I think you meant to link Special:NewPages. Heddy (talk) 15:56, 4 June 2016 (UTC)

Updated Mission Briefing Charts

I was wondering if I should keep the old charts for Octo Valley Missions or should I use the newer charts that I recently created? --Snowwarrior92 05:55, 24 May 2016 (UTC)

Hrm... these are more visually interesting, but the old ones feel more concise and compact. I'm leaning towards them, but if you can get the new ones to work without making the page look too bloated, go ahead. :b --Bzeep! talk 10:42, 24 May 2016 (UTC)
The new ones look good, but the images should probably be made a bit smaller (say, 35px or so). Nyargleblargle.pngNyargleblargle (Contribs) 10:48, 24 May 2016 (UTC)
I can easily make the images smaller, but I'm not sure how to keep the charts from cluttering up the page. Any suggestions would be appreciated.--Snowwarrior92 11:33, 24 May 2016 (UTC)

Could we use this?

I was wondering if we could use something like this for the mission briefing portion of Octo Valley Mission walkthroughs?--Snowwarrior92 07:39, 25 May 2016 (UTC)

Something to improve this page?

I see a lot of old discussions on the ink pump, some of which are not relevant anymore, such as the Snow VS Sand splatfest info. Could we delete old discussions, or make it a rule that you have to delete them if they become irrelevant? I would be willing to help with this, but I thought it would be best to throw this out there first to see what admins think. I don't want to break any rules by deleting other people's' conversations or anything. Skylar (talk) 03:35, 26 May 2016 (UTC)

It's almost always a good idea to keep talk page conversations for precedent, so I'd say no. Nyargleblargle.pngNyargleblargle (Contribs) 11:02, 26 May 2016 (UTC)
Alright, I understand. Skylar (talk) 02:41, 28 May 2016 (UTC)
The Ink Pump has an archive. Once this page becomes long and filled with older discussions, they can be moved there. ~SuperHamster Talk 04:59, 28 May 2016 (UTC)

More suggestions

Sorry ya'll, I know I ask a lot, but I think I have some good ideas.

1)Maybe make a page where people new to Inkpedia can comment, ask for help, and whatnot so other people can find them more easily and help out.

2)A tutorial page on basic wiki coding. Personally, I started learning how to edit by making my profile look nice, so maybe a tutorial on that? It has practically everything you need to start editing.

3)A page kind of like this one, except where people can just talk about the game and offer strategy tips. I think there might be something like this already, does anyone know?

Skylar (talk) 00:11, 9 June 2016 (UTC)

For 1, there's Inkipedia:Discord. For 3, there is plenty of that type of discussion on Squidboards, Reddit, and Gamefaqs. Heddy (talk) 03:01, 9 June 2016 (UTC)
Number 2 is a great idea; I think most other wikis have something like this. Nyargleblargle.pngNyargleblargle (Contribs) 14:36, 9 June 2016 (UTC)
Ok thanks! I could help with a basic editing tutorial with everything I learned from making my profile. I think that would be a good place to start. Skylar (talk) 21:04, 9 June 2016 (UTC)

There's a problem

Sometimes, but not always, the read, edit, and view history buttons on the top slide left and right and hide behind the watch/unwatch button. I have to chase them to click on them! This has been happening since when I joined Inkipedia. Could we fix it somehow? (maybe the buttons are bored of just sitting there!) User:Mr squid/Sig 15:33, 12 June 2016 (UTC)

Can confirm, this happens on small resolution screens such as mobiles where the page can't fit all the tabs across properly. Since aegis left, we don't really have anyone that specialises in page styling, but I will take a look at it. User:Kjhf/Sig 15:42, 12 June 2016 (UTC)
Confirming as well. It mostly happens on template and (I think) talk pages for some reason. It might be easier to just use another skin for now. Nyargleblargle.pngNyargleblargle (Contribs) 22:10, 7 July 2016 (UTC)

Im here autoconfirmed, but I have made 6 edits including this one and I created an account earlyer. What's happening im no time traveler. TabuuandMasterCore (talk) 00:04, 24 June 2016 (UTC)

You become Autocomfirmed when you make five edits andhave been on the wiki four four days I think. User:Mr squid/Sig 01:02, 24 June 2016 (UTC)
Well here's my edit count and registration date: Number of edits: 8

Registration time 23:11, 23 June 2016 TabuuandMasterCore (talk) 01:08, 24 June 2016 (UTC)

YouTube on Names

I think that for a competitive Splatoon player e.g C<<ParaDUDE, I think we should put a link in their name to their YouTube channel like: [C<<ParaDUDE]. But I need some help on the bracket thingy [] gtKaged 20:42pm, 30 June 2016 (GMT)

Map Question

Would this be a sufficient map? --Snowwarrior92 05:27, 7 July 2016 (UTC)

Inkrail Skyscape Map.jpg

It looks good. Though it would be better if the arrows from f to g didn't pass through the start. Otherwise it is very good! User:Mr squid/Sig 12:44, 7 July 2016 (UTC)

Agents 1 and 2

Is it okay to link to Callie and Marie as agents 1 and 2 like on the Great Zapfish page. What I mean is, for example, a user who hasn't yet completed Octo Valley and doesn't know that agents 1 and 2 are the Squid Sisters finds the Great Zapfish article. They click on the Agent 1 link and then they accidentally find out the spoiler. User:Mr squid/Sig 16:49, 9 July 2016 (UTC)

I think it's fine. I found out the spoiler way before I beat story mode from Inkpedia. Anybody using wikis should know to expect spoilers and use caution if they don't wanna see spoilers, so its their fault if they don't wanna see it. Skylar.png Skylar Talk Contribs 16:27, 1 September 2016 (UTC)

Weapon article opening

While looking across a variety of articles, I noticed that most weapon articles have a different opening paragraph, and that is really inconsistent. There is a lot of info that could be included but that doesn't mean it needs to be. We also don't want to repeat a whole lot of the infobox information, apart from the very major stuff. Does anyone have any proposals for what the paragraph could be? User:Lukey140701/Sig 23:03, 22 July 2016 (UTC)

"The NAME is a Main Weapon in the Shooter category in Splatoon. It was released as free downloadable content on June 2nd, 2015./It was available during the initial launch of the game." That's the best I could think of. User:Lukey140701/Sig 17:29, 2 August 2016 (UTC)

File Weirdness

Sometimes when I click on files it says this instead of the image:

Error creating thumbnail: convert: unable to acquire cache view `No such file or directory' @ fatal/cache-view.c/AcquireAuthenticCacheView/121.

Error code: 1

What does this mean? User:Mr squid/Sig 15:30, 26 July 2016 (UTC)

Inkipedia World

So... I saw The 'Shroom on Mariowiki ( a 'newspaper' with Mario games, news, art, stories as well as stuff about the wiki) and I thought that we should do something like that here on Inkipedia. I have some ideas on User:Mr Squid/Inkipedia World. And I have done a poll for the main page and a template for Inkipedia world if it does happen. See User:Mr Squid/sandbox/5. User:Mr squid/Sig 14:51, 29 July 2016 (UTC)

I think it's a pretty great idea! Nice write-up. The biggest obstacle is that we'd need a set of editors who to put the time in every month. Might be a good idea to first find some editors who are interested to writing for it. I'd be willing to find a piece of fan art to feature every month. ~SuperHamster Talk 04:29, 8 August 2016 (UTC)
The name would have been more not-amusment park related. Just so happy that we can add the news. I think we shall call it the Inkipedia Newsline. Seems not-so-creative, but is more news-releated. GogglesKunInkling(Talk|Contribs) 21:35, 11 August 2016 (UTC)
Yes, the name is now definitely Inkipedia Newsline! User:Mr squid/Sig 15:20, 13 August 2016 (UTC)

Replacing Template:Splatfest with Template:MangaVol

I say we can't use the Splatfest template in the main page no longer since Splatfests are no longer to be held.

You can go check out what it will look like with this sandbox

Whadda say? GogglesKunInkling(Talk|Contribs) 20:16, 2 September 2016 (UTC)

We're working on getting a stage schedule implemented to replace this. User:Lukey140701/Sig 23:24, 3 September 2016 (UTC)
I agree, a stage schedule would be more informative and more relevant the majority of people who see the main page. --Bzeep! talk 23:33, 3 September 2016 (UTC)
Yes please! I don't care about the manga, and it would be much easier to just check here instead of SplatNet every time I want to see the stages! Skylar.png Skylar Talk Contribs 12:12, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
That was hurtful... GogglesKunInkling(Talk|Contribs) 12:14, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
Why don't we put both of them in? Also, I think I got polls to work. See User:Mr Squid/sandbox/Main page. User:Mr squid/Sig 08:21, 5 September 2016 (UTC)
Sorry, I didn't mean it like that. What I meant is that I don't read the manga, and since they don't come out that frequently, I think a stage schedule would be more helpful. But both sounds fine. And I hope we can get polls soon. Skylar.png Skylar Talk Contribs 22:09, 30 September 2016 (UTC)
We could have both. Move the countdown timer and stage schedule to the former Splatfest section and have the manga in the old countdown timer section. Nyargleblargle.pngNyargleblargle (Contribs) 02:30, 30 September 2016 (UTC)
That's a great idea! GogglesKunInkling(Talk|Contribs) 13:16, 1 October 2016 (UTC)

Noting disambiguation pages in title

Would it be easier to move, say, Recon to Recon (disambiguation) while leaving a redirect? It would make it clearer which pages need attention in maintenance reports and the like, and if we absolutely needed to, we could still display the title as Recon with MediaWiki functions. Nyargleblargle.pngNyargleblargle (Contribs) 22:28, 27 October 2016 (UTC)

The way we've been naming disambiguation pages now is how it's usually handled on many other wikis, where the disambiguation page is named as just the ambiguous word itself (as it is for Recon and most of our disambiguations), unless there's one "primary topic" (already named with that word) that refers to the most common use of that term (as it is with Ink and Ink (disambiguation)). It seems like changing all of them would create a lot of unneeded redirects and clutter the page titles. As for the issue of disambiguations appearing in maintenance reports, it looks like there is a MediaWiki extension available (https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Disambiguator) that can enable the software to identify disambiguation pages, allowing it to do things like hiding them from the orphaned pages report or generating a list of pages that link to disambiguations. --Kaioora (talk) 05:11, 28 October 2016 (UTC)

Pink Inkipedia

Now that Splatoon 2 is revealed, can we make turn Inkipedia's main color from lime green to pink? GogglesKunInkling(Talk|Contribs) 16:14, 16 January 2017 (UTC)

We discussed this and ultimately decided against it for now. It may happen closer to Splatoon 2's launch. Luke (talk) 19:42, 16 January 2017 (UTC)
I'm very much for the idea of color-coding content from Splatoon 2 as pink (tables, infobars etc.) while keeping general articles and articles from Splatoon 1 green like they currently are. AmbientDinosaurSig.pngAmbientDinosaurSigTalk.png 21:12, 16 January 2017 (UTC)

Competitive Splatoon

Hi! I am a new editor and was wondering why we cannot create pages for competitive players? We have articles for competitive teams such as Team Chimera and NSTC. Even Penguitt has his own article. I understand not very player should get an article but at least for main players like Sendou or DUDE. Please explain. Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Primelegend (talkcontribs) 22:05, January 16, 2017

See INK:NOTABLE. It is allowed, but players have to meet the criteria. Nyargleblargle.pngNyargleblargle (Contribs) 14:41, 17 January 2017 (UTC)
That is Penguitt's userpage, which is not in the main space like your article was. Yours was moved to the userspace under the name of User:Primelegend/Rezb1t. Luke (talk) 16:02, 17 January 2017 (UTC)
