Splatoon (JP) have a lot of artwork and Inkling hairstyles for Splatoon 2 on their twitter page... https://mobile.twitter.com/SplatoonJP

Livestream info

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qadzCB3CLlI So in one of the Nintendo's live stream's from today (Jan 13, 2017) and the localization team was talking about Specials, they said that "no special from Splatoon will be returning, and all specials will be new" as well as the names of specials. "String Ray" - the big laser; it pierces all walls and can be turned, but cannot move physically "Tenta Missles" - the heatseeking missiles; All players within the player's camera, including ones hidden, will be targeted, and 4 missiles will be fired. This is a temp name due to a translation err (according to translation lead). "Splash Down" - the ink explosion. Can only be activated midair, and the player emits a massive ink explosion. "Inkjet" - a jetpack that lasts a few seconds. While in the air, the player can only use secondaries. Theres also a thundercloud special that is unnamed, but moves around.

As for weapon changes: - Chargers can store their charge while swimming - Rollers have two flings now, one for the air that is a thinner, farther throw, and the standard on the ground.

Dualies: - Dualies are dual wielded guns, with fast firing speed - They also have a roll dodge

Also, it's been shown that those inkrails from Splatoon's story mode are present in a map. Also, Callie is missing it appears, as while it was shown that Marie is alone, the "Final Minute" song is missing Callie's voice (this was from a Japanese stream I'm having trouble finding) --Captains, dismissed! -JPM (talk) 04:57, 14 January 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

FAQ

There are a lot of questions to be answered by Nintendo...

1. Will they bring back splatfest in Spatoon 2? 2. Will it be available on Wii U. (Makes no sense to have the first game, and can't play the second one Nintendo). 3. Will they add the cool new weapons and clothes to the first?

The answers to the last two are no. I'm a squid (talk) 16:40, 1 April 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Scope of "changes and additions"

Should we limit the scope of this section to things that changed in the base game, not future versions? Limiting the scope a bit could prevent it from resembling the List of post-release content in Splatoon 2 article. Maybe the discussion of weapons should be limited to new weapon types only, so only dualies and brellas would be discussed. Heddy (talk) 02:56, 28 November 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Octo Expansion

Where on this page should we put Octo Expansion? --Raltseye prata med mej 15:15, 9 March 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Maybe at the bottom? CrashKirby (talk) 18:45, 12 March 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Blasters

Blasters are a new category separate from shooters now, aren't they? Should I adjust the "New Main Weapons" list to reflect this? 5p1k3 (talk) 17:57, 14 November 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Blasters are still technically shooters. Inkling luke.png Inkling talk.png 21:39, 14 November 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Says who though? Do you have an official source to prove this? Just because they have the same winning/losing animations as shooters does not make them shooters. From the way I view it, they're a weapon class in their own right, but for listing them here I think we should go from official sources, such as splatoonus tumblr or something. Splattersky (talk) 23:02, 14 November 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Says the fact that ingame, Blasters are still lumped together with other Shooter Weapons in the testing range select. In between normal shooters and Burst-Fire weapons, all of them are just under the general category of Shooter. Just as Brushes are still lumped together next to Rollers. They're just classified as a sub-categorization of the weapon category. There's no more official source than the game itself. Thinker224 (talk) 15:42, 15 November 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
There actually is a guide from the first game (though nothing has changed since then) that explicitly states that they're shooters. Inkling luke.png Inkling talk.png 20:12, 15 November 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Splatoon 2 comes to South Korea

The article from Nintendo of Korea says Splatoon 2 will be released on May 2, 2019. (Since I am not an autoconfirmed user, I can't edit directly.) It looks like that the North American version will be imported to South Korea, regarding to the supported languages (EN, ES, FR). Thank you! -- Delfino4 (talk) 08:00, 6 April 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Octo Expansion area

I feel like we should add where it says they were going on a vacation. The text just says " The Octo Expansion is the 'vacation' Agent 3 and Cap'n Cuttlefish are on, which is referenced within the base game's single-player campaign." So should we or should we not? *aggressive introverting* 12:59, 18 May 2023 (UTC)
