Black 8-Bit FishFry

The Black 8-Bit FishFry is a piece of clothing in the Splatoon series.

In Splatoon, it is a 1-star item produced by Firefin and comes with the primary ability Defense Up. It can be purchased from Jelly Fresh for  600.

In Splatoon 2, it is a 1-star item produced by Firefin and comes with the primary ability Bomb Defense Up DX. It can be purchased from Ye Olde Cloth Shoppe for  600 or from SplatNet 2 Gear Shop for  1,500.

In Splatoon 3, it is a 1-star item produced by Firefin and comes with the primary ability Sub Resistance Up. It can be purchased from Man-o'-Wardrobe for  600 or from SplatNet 3 Shop for  1,500.

Appearance

The Black 8-Bit FishFry is a short-sleeved shirt that - despite the name - is not black, but a very dark gray. On the front is a large, pixelated Firefin logo, stylized as an 8-bit console era sprite, with the colors inverted. On the back is the same thing, but with the logo turned around as if seen from behind. It has a tiny white tag at the bottom, also with the Firefin logo with inverted colors.

Abilities

The Black 8-Bit FishFry comes with Defense Up as the primary ability. As a 1-star item, the Black 8-Bit FishFry comes with one additional slot for secondary abilities, which may be increased to a maximum of three slots with a Super Sea Snail or 30,000 cash for each slot. Since it is made by the Firefin gear brand, it has a higher chance of rolling Ink Saver (Sub) and a lower chance of rolling Ink Recovery Up to fill its secondary ability slot.

Abilities

The Black 8-Bit FishFry comes with Bomb Defense Up DX as the primary ability when purchased from a shop or ordered from Murch. When purchased from SplatNet 2, it comes with any other primary ability normally available to Clothing (with the exception of Ability Doubler). As a 1-star item, the Black 8-Bit FishFry comes with one additional slot for secondary abilities, which may be increased to a maximum of three slots with a Super Sea Snail for each slot. Since it is made by the Firefin gear brand, it has a higher chance of rolling Ink Saver (Sub) and a lower chance of rolling Ink Recovery Up to fill its secondary ability slot.

Splatoon 3

Abilities

The Black 8-Bit FishFry comes with Sub Resistance Up as the primary ability when purchased from a shop or ordered from Murch. When purchased from SplatNet 3, it comes with any other primary ability normally available to Clothing (with the exception of Ability Doubler). As a 1-star item, the Black 8-Bit FishFry comes with two additional slots for secondary abilities. The star level may be increased with Super Sea Snails for 1 (first), 1 (second), 5 (third), 10 (fourth), or 20 (fifth) Super Sea Snails per star, or by purchasing additional copies of it from Man-o'-Wardrobe for 10,000 (first), 30,000 (second), 50,000 (third), 100,000 (fourth), or 200,000 (fifth) Cash per star. Increasing the star level to 2 stars will add another secondary ability slot for a total of three slots. Increasing the star level beyond 2 stars will increase the gear experience gained by a cumulative 3.333…% up to 10% additional experience at 5-star level. Since it is made by the Firefin gear brand, it has a higher chance of rolling Ink Saver (Sub) and a lower chance of rolling Ink Recovery Up to fill its secondary ability slot.
