Energy cores are objects that can be found during the Diaphragm Phase and Peristalsis Phase in Octo Expansion, and The Spirit Lifter: First Class in Return of the Mammalians. They seem to be a source of energy, since they are used to power the elevator in Octo Expansion, and open bulkheads in Splatoon 3.
