Gameplay Heads-Up Displays?

I think it might be a good idea to have a page for the HUDs during gameplay. However, I am not able to provide any of these.

I think it would be good to include the HUDs for multiplayer battles, the singleplayer campaigns, and Octo Expansion, showing them, and what is in them.

It would be appreciated for someone to create such a page, as I am currently unable to provide much resources.

This is not a bad idea. OctoMan_26 12:32, 23 June 2019 (UTC)

Sanitization on Humans?

Hey everyone, It's me, Agent 10, and I have a question to pose to all the Inklings and Octolings out there....

What would happen to a human (assuming they were 14 or 15 years old or younger) if they were Sanitized the same way that the Octarians and Octolings were? Would it even affect them at all? If they were affected, how would it affect them? How would they even become Sanitized in the first place? Injection? Ingestion? Physical Contact? Aerospray?

I am posting this in terms of this wiki's policy and along the guidelines of the Sanitization Project.

Please, respond. I would like to hear what would happen.

Agent 10 (talk) 23:46, 8 January 2019 (UTC)

Interesting question, but as this is a wiki on splatoon, I don't see why this is necessary. Feel free to pose a musing on your user page, though :) Splattersky (talk) 00:18, 9 January 2019 (UTC)

why an aerospray? Woomy1 (talk) 15:24, 21 January 2019 (UTC) I think human sanitization is possible, maybe..By the way aerosprays are AWESOMEEEEEESanei Inkling Squid pink plush.jpg SquiddyGirlSanei Inkling Squid pink plush.jpgTalk 21:44, 13 April 2019 (UTC)

Camp Triggerfish Maps

Camp Triggerfish doesn't have the maps for Splatoon 2, only Splatoon. Could someone please add the Splatoon 2 maps? (https://splatoonwiki.org/wiki/Camp_Triggerfish) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joeysauras (talkcontribs) 07:25, 10 January 2019‎ (UTC)

Spoiler alert on main page

I noticed that the smash wiki has a spoiler warning at the top of the main page, as well as on some pages, saying something along the lines of "This wiki contains spoilers! Read at your own risk!" I think that would be helpful here too, so we wouldn't have to remember to put the spoiler warning everywhere. Splattersky (talk) 01:23, 14 January 2019 (UTC)

Splatfest Flooder Artwork

Does anyone know where this render came from? I asked the original uploader but he never responded. I need to know if there are any other Splatoon 2 enemy renders that it originated from. S2 Icon Flooder.png GoombaBroadcast (talk) 1:54 17 January 2019 (UTC)

Found it! It was from Lean's twitter. I wanted to replace the old image with the higher-quality version (the jpg was a badly upscaled version), but MediaWiki did not let me overwrite a jpg file with a png file (nor move the jpg to the new name), so I ended up replacing everything and splatting the old version.

Should email address be required for new accounts?

On this wiki, a login is required to edit pages, but given that, how about requiring an email address to be specified for all new accounts, with email confirmation being required to edit pages with these accounts? Sincerly Xanthipos on 03:27, 16 January 2019 (UTC)

plz no Woomy1 (talk) 15:23, 21 January 2019 (UTC)

Why not? --Xanthipos 08:05, 23 January 2019 (UTC)

I agree with Woomy1. I also think that if this rule was imposed, any accounts like mine where their users don't have emails could be locked out from editing.--Splatana (talk) 11:26, 29 January 2019 (UTC)

Well, existing users wouldn't if the requirement only applies to new accounts and existing accounts that already have emails.--Xanthipos 16:57, 29 January 2019 (UTC)

Well, I also agree with Woomy1 because I don't have an email, but I love contributing to the wiki. So if this rule was actually made, then I would be locked out. Gamer10 (talk) 22:47, 28 March 2019 (UTC)

Splatoon 2 Character Models

I feel like we need some character models for most of the enemies in Splatoon 2 (especially the Salmonids) since it’s rather hard to get High Quality pictures of some of them. Do we have anyone that knows how to get ahold of them? GoombaBroadcast (talk) 17:29, 9 February 2019 (UTC)

I have a friend who is able to rip the models of enemies such as Salmonid, the problem is that I dont think the proper shaders can be easily applied, so it still looks kind of ugly. Rassicas 20:42, 10 February 2019 (UTC)

That's alright, I'll still try to get good screenshots of some of the other enemies. Still getting used to photoshop. GoombaBroadcast (talk) 10:21, 11 February 2019 (UTC)

Timeless

Inkipedia's default theme/skin is due for an upgrade from Vector to Timeless. Before we can do this, we need to get some opinions to make sure everything's okay. Read below and share your opinions.

The benefit of Timeless is that it adapts to every screen size; it has a modern and responsive design. Timeless is already the default on mobile, and we might be making it the desktop default to avoid maintaining two skins and so that desktop users get the same benefits.

To try Timeless early on desktop, go to Special:Preferences and select Timeless from the Appearance section. Alternatively, follow this link to only try a single page: https://splatoonwiki.org/wiki/Scrapper?useskin=timeless.

I expect that there might be opinions on 3 things:

  • Should the top bar "stick" on your screen as you scroll down, for easy access to search?
    • Timeless default: Yes. Old skin: No.
  • Should there be two sidebars or do we force it to always have one?
    • Timeless default: 1 sidebar on small desktop window, 2 sidebars on big desktop window. Old skin: 1 sidebar.
  • Should the content area's size be consistent or unlimited?
    • Timeless default: the content area will always be roughly the same size regardless of screen size. Old skin: The page always keeps getting wider on wider screens.

All of those behaviors can be changed as desired. Just comment here if you want us to stick with the default Timeless behaviors or change something. Heddy (talk) 20:05, 10 February 2019 (UTC)

Not a fan of the dual sidebars, computers have the advantage of nice large width for lots of info, narrowing it feels more constrained, and everything looks a bit larger, like if someone blew up the mobile version (which is exactly what happened...) I have no idea how customisation this stuff all is, but I feel the sidebar size itself is a bit too big.
Me likey the new search bar.  KA467 🗩 🖿  20:32, 10 February 2019 (UTC)
The dual sidebar is pretty off-putting to me, I prefer everything on one side. The rest looks fine by me. Rassicas 20:52, 10 February 2019 (UTC)
Not sure if this response is late or not, but I think the new skin looks great! I definitely like how the search bar keeps with you as you scroll down, and you aren't forced to scroll all the way back up when you want to search something. Although, like others have said, I'm not very fond of the dual sidebar. And also, I don't really have a preference for the third thing, since I only use inkipedia on one device, and I'm not sure what it's currently like on other devices. It'll take a lot of getting used to the new skin, though, for me. --SundaeSquidS Weapon Main Octobrush.pngTalk 23:02, 10 February 2019 (UTC)
Not late. We'll wait a couple days to get all concerns ironed out before doing anything. Feel free to keep testing the skin. Heddy (talk) 00:26, 11 February 2019 (UTC)
I don't really mind the second side bar, but since it is shorter it feels a little lopsided when compared the other side bar? I don't know how else to put it. Other than that and the things I've already mentioned on Discord (which were more visual critique on layouts, so hard to easily demonstrate in a talk page), the only other thing I mind is how all text feels bigger. If it isn't in a table or template, all text in an article feel like I have my browser on 120% zoom level compared with how it was in the Vector skin. AmbientDinosaurSig.pngAmbientDinosaurSigTalk.png 00:31, 11 February 2019 (UTC)
Vector's text is 87% of your web browser's base font size. Timeless defaults to 95%. I think that being closer to respecting your computer or web browser's actual chosen font size is a good thing, not a bad thing. Regardless, we can adjust it to 87% if that's a widespread opinion. Heddy (talk) 01:22, 11 February 2019 (UTC)
Oh, I didn't know that Vector already affected font size! It might be something one gets accustomed to then. We will see after a trial run I guess. AmbientDinosaurSig.pngAmbientDinosaurSigTalk.png 13:32, 11 February 2019 (UTC)
I am okay with everything except for the second side bar. Warriorking98 (talk) 02:31, 11 February 2019 (UTC)
Yeah, as everyone else said, second side bar really puts me off it. Everything else is okay! Splattersky (talk) 09:11, 11 February 2019 (UTC)
I'm gonna jump on the second sidebar hate train and say that I agree with that complaint. But, if we do get a second sidebar then at least be consistant with what's on which side. Now general navigation is on the left side while the wiki tools but the tools section is on the right side. I'd say the tools section should also be on the right side. --Raltseye prata med mej 15:11, 11 February 2019 (UTC)

Due to the above feedback, Timeless is now single sidebar. Heddy (talk) 01:49, 12 February 2019 (UTC)

BOOYAH!! Splattersky (talk) 10:44, 12 February 2019 (UTC)

Another change: As long as you're not viewing Inkipedia in a small window, the page-specific part of the sidebar will be sticky. That's the part of the sidebar that shows a page's categories, other languages available (sometimes French), and actions like moving the page. Try scrolling up and down and you'll see what I mean. Make sure to say something if you have an opinion on this. Heddy (talk) 23:16, 12 February 2019 (UTC)

We should make the Timeless the default, and still have the old skin as an option. Inkling project paintball font eleven23.png Inkling project paintball font eleven23 talk.png 00:18, 16 February 2019 (UTC)

The old skin, Vector, will continue to be available at Special:Preferences for the foreseeable future. Heddy (talk) 15:42, 16 February 2019 (UTC)

Should we re-name the (== *name* ==) to (== Solved: *name* ==) so people don't get confused if an Ink Pump question hasn't been answered? Readability for Album Pages

Hey guys, I just recently came up with an idea to make the track listings on the pages of Splatune, Splatune 2, and Octotune be easier to read. At the moment, longer song listings can include Japanese text, transliterations, and English titles - for the names of both the song and artist. This leads to what I think is a somewhat muddled mix of Japanese and English, with far too many pairs of brackets and italics to differentiate things. Using Ink Me Up as an example, it currently looks like this:

キミ色に染めて (Kimi-iro ni Somete, "Ink Me Up") {シオカラーズ (Sea O'Colors, "Squid Sisters")}

I thought that a way of placing the Japanese on one side and English on the other would help tremendously in decluttering this, with my suggestion being this:

キミ色に染めて (Kimi-iro ni Somete) - シオカラーズ (Sea O'Colors) / Ink Me Up - Squid Sisters

It doesn't reduce much space but hopefully makes it slightly clearer what is being referred to each time, with each language showing the song title followed by the artist name. Let me know what you think of this idea! I know it would be a bit of a faff changing the pages, however. Similarly, if there's a reason why the current layout is used, then I'll understand that as well. Cheers!

GloverMist (talk) 14:53, 24 February 2019 (UTC)

I think this is a great idea! It definitely improves the readability, in my opinion. --SundaeSquidS Weapon Main Octobrush.pngTalk 00:10, 25 February 2019 (UTC)
That's great to hear! If nobody else has any objections or thoughts then I'll start working on that in the next few days. GloverMist (talk) 16:18, 25 February 2019 (UTC)
Hmm, maybe a chart?  KA467 🗩 🖿  19:07, 25 February 2019 (UTC)
What kind of thing did you have in mind? GloverMist (talk) 08:58, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
Track Western title Japanese title Japanese pronunciation? Other Japanese? Japanese translation? Artist
3 Ink Me Up キミ色に染めて Kimi-iro ni Somete シオカラーズ Sea O'Colors Squid Sisters
Maybe something like this? I put the English title first, as i feel the link should be upfront.  KA467 🗩 🖿  15:44, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
That seems pretty good! If I were doing it, I'd put the English artist name before its Japanese counterpart, like what is listed for the song title, just for consistency's sake. I would make the column titles, in order: 'Track number', 'English song title', 'Japanese song title', 'Translation', 'English artist name', 'Japanese artist name', 'Translation'. That seems to make things most obvious. But again, if you think this is too much for all album pages, do say so! GloverMist (talk) 10:32, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
Track number English song title Japanese song title Translation English artist name Japanese artist name Translation
3 Ink Me Up キミ色に染めて Kimi-iro ni Somete Squid Sisters シオカラーズ Sea O'Colors
Like this? May have got some of the boxes mixed up, but yeah. I think writing "track number" makes the box waaaay too wide for some numbers.
Also I just realised, I meant TABLE not chart. oh well.  KA467 🗩 🖿  22:12, 2 March 2019 (UTC)

Looks perfect to me! Maybe you’re right about changing “Track Number” back to just “Track”, but aside from that, seems to be bang on! (Side note, I’m not sure how to carry on a conversation without indenting it way too far in to be readable, whoops.) GloverMist (talk) 00:11, 3 March 2019 (UTC)

Timeless Section Titles

I was just wondering if it would be possible to add the ink splats on section titles to Timeless. If we could, I think it would be a great improvement to the character of the wiki and keep it unique!--Splatana (talk) 10:13, 5 March 2019 (UTC)

Spam Accounts

In the Special:Recent Changes log, I notice that the number of spam accounts being created is astronomical, growing by leaps and bounds. Eventually, it will be so many that they will create themselves faster than we can splat them! Suggest putting a pictorial CAPCHA on the account creation page. -DJParticle (talk) 11:06, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

Even better: block the IP. Inkling project paintball font eleven23.png Inkling project paintball font eleven23 talk.png Eleven23 splatoon font 3.png 10:34, 14 March 2019 (UTC)
If this was 10 years ago, I'd agree with you, but ISPs these days do so much NATing to preserve the still reverse-compatible (and still dominant) IPv4, that an IP block could take out an entire neighborhood. If you can IP block by IPv6 (in which each specific device has its own IP address hashed from MAC address), that would be far smarter. -DJParticle (talk) 12:22, 14 March 2019 (UTC)
IPv6 addresses change daily. I think that means we would need to block large ranges of addresses to keep an individual blocked. So as more people switch to IPv6, blocking by IP gets more difficult. Heddy (talk) 14:00, 16 March 2019 (UTC)
I asked the webmaster for a solution. Better CAPTCHA is probably an option. Also, I disabled account creation for now. Heddy (talk) 14:00, 16 March 2019 (UTC)
Account creation is re-enabled. I'm trying an abuse filter that should automatically block spammers. Heddy (talk) 23:07, 16 March 2019 (UTC)

Foreign-language redirects

I've noticed a lot of people making foreign-language redirects. This practice is harmful to the wiki for both English users and foreign-language users.

  • Overlap (when two languages have the same word or phrase but that word or phrase has a different meaning in each language) can cause conflict and confusion. People searching for one language would be brought to another language's English equivalent instead of their own language's English equivalent. This is the primary reason to delete these non-English redirects and not create new ones.
  • Removing foreign-language redirects does not impact the ability to search in other languages. These terms are present in the names in other languages table, which causes them show up in search results. This means these non-English redirects are entirely superfluous.
  • Non-English redirects clutter the search suggestions for English searches. Remember that this is an English-language wiki so English searches are the most common. Why inconvenience most searchers?
  • This practice could easily lead to a slippery slope where people think that redirects should be created even for languages that Splatoon was not officially translated to.
  • Due to the way search engines like Google work, redirect pages show up in Google results sometimes. If an Inkipedia for another language were to be started, English Inkipedia's Google listing for a page would be ranked above the actual wiki for that language, due to popularity. These Google listings may also give people Google searching in their own language a false impression that Inkipedia is a website written in their language, and they would quickly be dissapointed after clicking the link to Inkipedia. By deleting the redirects, Inkipedia would still show in these Google results, but with an honest English title, and ranked below any better resources in the searched language.

With this practice being harmful for both English speakers and foreign-language speakers, while at the same time having no real benefit at all (point 2), I advise for this to discontinue. The consensus on Discord was for this to end. If there isn't any opposition here, the redirects will be deleted. Heddy (talk) 17:19, 21 March 2019 (UTC)

Yeah, that sounds good. I was mostly making foreign-language redirects since I saw other users were doing it, and I figured I should help out. Sorry about that. ShinyCelesteela (talk) 17:25, 21 March 2019 (UTC)
I support removing them. Also ShinyCelesteela no need to appologize, it's just a praxis we'll stop with. --Raltseye prata med mej 17:30, 21 March 2019 (UTC)
Support: There is Inkipédia as well, and yes, foreign users do come here. Let's say if this was in the real world:
A foreign person recently came into your county, and decides to walk into a restaurant that looks like it came from their country. The foreign person soon discovers that everything is English. The menu, the people, the conversations, the setting, even the food. They would be disappointed.
This is exactly what's happening in Inkipedia: A foreign person clicks on either the link in Google or the link in Inkipedia, and they soon discover it's all English.
In fact, if any of us were to be from another country that doesn't support English, we would be disappointed.
20:15, 21 March 2019 (UTC)
I don't exactly understand your point but if a foreigner walked into a restaurant in say, Australia, they wouldn't be disappointed if anything is in English since it's expected. But if I walked into a bar here in Sweden with a Swedish sign, name and menu and the waitors all spoke English then yes, that would be disappointing. I think that if a foreign language speaker searched for their localized name in a search engine and got what looks like a website in their language and ended up here then they could potentially be disappointed. We have the Names in other languages sections so that it can be searched for anyway. Redirects only make things messier. --Raltseye prata med mej 12:53, 22 March 2019 (UTC)

Band member redirects

I have an idea that we could create redirects for individual members of each band, so for instance "Ichya" or "ICHYA" could redirect to Squid Squad, "Kitamura" could redirect to Ink Theory, and so on and so forth. However, there are a few issues I could see arising from this.

  1. Ikkan, as a member of both Squid Squad and Diss-Pair, would not be able to redirect to both pages unless we create his name as a disambiguation page.
  2. Depending on how you romanize their name, Raian of Chirpy Chips may very well have the same name as RYAN from Wet Floor. Currently, we have the former romanized as "Raian," which would sort of solve this issue, and if we want to be technical, "RYAN" is meant to be pronounced more like "Rianne," but since that romanization isn't officially used anywhere, it's best we just don't use that.
  3. We'd also need to officially decide on which romanizations to use across the wiki. I've seen "Muruta Bottom," "Murtagh Bottom," "Multar Bottom," and "Murter Bottom" all used to describe the scallop in the Bottom Feeders. We need to pick one and go with it!

Ultimately, since the band characters are extremely minor and don't have much information on their own, I believe their names should just be used as redirects to the full band's page. If we can work out these few complications, I think this might be a nice addition to the wiki, but I'd like to open a discussion before going through with this in any capacity. ShinyCelesteela (talk) 12:13, 25 March 2019 (UTC)

I agree, I also think that if they have similar names or the same name but with different spellings then a disambig would be the best course of action, otherwise redirects galore. Regarding romanizations, I don't know Japanese but yes, it would be for the best to use one consistant romanization and stick with it. --Raltseye prata med mej 14:40, 25 March 2019 (UTC)
Sweet! Any idea on how we'd manage Ikkan? I feel that if we can solve that, then I'll get to the redirects right away. I figure for romanizations, we can just use the ones currently on the pages. ShinyCelesteela (talk) 16:45, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
Alright, just made most of the necessary redirects, including different capitalization and everything. Still no answer on Ikkan yet. Do we make a disambiguation page for him? ShinyCelesteela (talk) 13:25, 27 March 2019 (UTC)
Yes, a disambiguation page is appropriate. Heddy (talk) 00:05, 28 March 2019 (UTC)

I am new around here, and I need help

Hi Inklings and Octolings, I am Gamer10. I just joined, and I do need help. Cam somebody guide me thru the wiki? Thx guys! Also, what's with the signature? Does everyone have one? Gamer10 00:39, 28 March 2019 (UTC)

Whilst editing, there is a 'Help' section. This give the most basic info, like '' for italics and ''' for bold. Use <br> for paragraph endings, and {{clr}} for multiple spaces. The help section also has formatting, links, headings etc.
Signatures are created through your user page and then /sig at the end in the address bar. Types of signatures are made up of various other designs using fonts, colours and pictures. This could possibly involve wikitext, a type of coding used throughout most wikis.
If you want, I can give you more info on how to use the wiki to contribute, and I can also help you to create your very own sig.

Hi there, Gamer10! Nice to meet ya, and welcome to Inkipedia! I'm here if you ever have questions, just leave a message by editing my talk page. Also, yeah, everyone has a signature, just leave four tildes (~ << those things) at the end of your message on any talk page, and it'll appear. I hope you enjoy your time here! :) Splattersky (talk) 07:49, 28 March 2019 (UTC)

Thanks User:Eleven23 and User:Splattersky for your help!! :). I really appreciate it :D. Gamer10 22:57, 28 March 2019 (UTC)

Visual Editor

I now that Wikipedia has something called the "Visual Editor" which is a visual way to edit the wiki without having to use the usual editor (the editor we use) and having to learn Wiki Markup. You can check it out by going to Wikipedia, clicking "edit" on a page and clicking "Switch to visual editor" in the pop-up box. Do we have the Visual Editor, and if so, how do I turn it on? Thanks, S2 Icon Inkling Squid Green.png Splatana talk contribs S2 Icon Inkling Squid Pink.png 15:28, 29 March 2019 (UTC)

We do not currently have Visual Editor here, but I have brought it up on Discord to see if anyone is interested. Feel free to join and share your thoughts. Inkling luke.png Inkling talk.png 17:15, 29 March 2019 (UTC)

Dancing Judd transparent background

Is anyone else getting this weird glitch thing where an Inkipedia page background briefly turns to a bunch of dancing Judd gifs??? Splattersky (talk) 02:03, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

Check your calendar. May be off a few hours due to time zones and the whatnot. ShinyCelesteela (talk) 02:22, 1 April 2019 (UTC)
Wait, what does my calendar have to do with any of this? Splattersky (talk) 03:29, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

My Nintendo reward gear

Now that the formally Japanese-exclusive gear are My Nintendo rewards, we need to change the gear introduction to match. I don't know how, so can someone please do it for me? Thanks,S2 Icon Inkling Squid Green.png Splatana talk contribs S2 Icon Inkling Squid Pink.png 08:37, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

What day is it again?  KA467 🗩 🖿  16:38, 1 April 2019 (UTC)
If that was literally an April Fool's joke, I'm really mad. Splattersky (talk) 23:38, 1 April 2019 (UTC)
expects from a day ago because of User:Heddy/Test/1 06:28, 2 April 2019 (UTC)

I fully beleived in that joke. Probably need to check Nintendo's offical website next time. The admins should probably tell us when its a joke and when it isn't. Ah well. S2 Icon Inkling Squid Green.png Splatana talk contribs S2 Icon Inkling Squid Pink.png 08:43, 2 April 2019 (UTC)

While I'm neutral to all Japan-exclusive gear so far, I must admit it was somewhat harsh to joke about it finally being available to everyone. And to be fair, the joke was immediately obvious if you clicked the link in it. AmbientDinosaurSig.pngAmbientDinosaurSigTalk.png 09:21, 2 April 2019 (UTC)
Don't worry, I believed it at first too. When you make a joke out of a serious topic like that, at least make it sound non-believable. Splattersky (talk) 00:17, 3 April 2019 (UTC)

Duplicate template argument

How do I find out what the duplicate template argument is talking about so I can edit my user page and fix what's wrong?

20:02, 4 April 2019 (UTC)

The best way is to browse through the latest page revisions and check which revision caused it. Heddy (talk) 21:35, 4 April 2019 (UTC)

Album art filenames

Alright, so this isn't really a necessary change per se, but I feel if we're going to be making pages for all the different music tracks, it'd help if all the album art had a consistent filename convention. For instance, every stage picture follows the convention of "[GAME ABBREVIATION] Stage [STAGE NAME].png," every weapon picture follows the convention of "[GAME ABBREVIATION] Weapon [WEAPON TYPE] [WEAPON NAME].png" and so on, and so forth. Arguably, I feel this change would make creating new music pages at least a little bit easier, while also making it easier to search for certain album art on the wiki. My proposed format would be "[GAME ABBREVIATION] Album [BAND NAME].jpg", since this seems to be the general format that other files on the wiki follow. I also propose that English localizations are used only, due to a few bands having different names in Japan. Obviously, the old name would be kept as a redirect, so nothing is broken.

For a few examples:

And so on and so forth. As a final note, Hightide Era is currently the only band whose album art is uploaded as a png, should we upload a jpg version if we decide to go through with this?

On an unrelated final note, the Ink Pump is past 25 topics and well over 35,000 bytes. It's probably due for another archive. ShinyCelesteela (talk) 11:38, 7 April 2019 (UTC)

While other things may use that naming convention, that doesn't make it a good convention. I regret going along with that convention for weapons and stages because now the category pages can't auto-sort under a convenient letter heading (it's ALL under "S" due to starting with "S"!). Plus it makes it harder to search for them if you're using the search bar - why should people have to type File:S2 Album SashiMori before a search suggestion comes up, it would be better if they just had to type File:SashiMori in order for useful search suggestion to appear. In addition, these covers may belong to albums or singles, so it might be inappropriate to say album in the filename. Also, music is re-used in multiple games and these albums are more of a Splatoon universe thing than a game-specific thing so I'm not even thinking the game should be mentioned at all, but feel free to disagree. Just use a number to indicate if it's the first or second cover uploaded to the wiki for that band. My proposed filename convention is Bandname cover art [number].jpg.
So your File:Omega 3 cover art.jpg example is already good in my opinion, just needs a number at the end. Heddy (talk) 14:17, 7 April 2019 (UTC)
You make some good points, and actually crack open a completely new discussion, which is if we should update the naming convention of stage/image/gear files? It'd be a LOT of work, to say the least, but by moving the name in front of the game, that could effectively solve the category issue. A few examples, again...
And so on, and so forth. We could maybe streamline this even further, if we want to remove specifics such as "Main, Sub, Special, Headgear, Clothing, and Shoes," but it might be best to keep them since it's more specific.
For bands returning, I might just suggest using the game in which the cover art originates. Bands like Squid Squad and Hightide Era would both use "S," since they are only in that game, bands like Ink Theory, Bottom Feeders, and Diss-Pair would use "S2" since they are only in that game, bands like Squid Sisters and Chirpy Chips would use both "S" and "S2," since they have different cover art for both games, while DJ Octavio and Bob Dub would just use "S" since the cover art originates from the first game. ShinyCelesteela (talk) 17:47, 7 April 2019 (UTC)
Another thing I want to say about categories, look at Category:Album artwork and see how the Bottom Feeders have their name cut off by "..." in one of the filenames, that could be avoided by having the band name first. Similarly, on Category:Shoes you can observe many names getting cut off due to non-essential words. Could be nice to change, but probably not enough of a benefit to mess with the already-established weapons and gear, given the huge amount of work involved, and given I'm probably the only one who cares about how stuff looks on category pages. So I really suggest only doing this for the cover art images! Heddy (talk) 22:02, 8 April 2019 (UTC)

Completing the Single Player Articles

I just checked the pages for Octo Canyon (mode) and Octo Valley (mode) levels, and I found that many of them are incomplete. The single player content is usually the mode beginners gravitate towards, and are more likely to search up instructions and details on the levels, so I feel that it might be important that the pages are completed. Kenderman123 (talk) 23:11, 9 April 2019 (UTC)

I second this. Splattersky (talk) 00:51, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
Agreed. I’ve been slowly but surely making it so the pages themselves look presentable, as there are many examples of poor formatting and bad spelling and grammar, but we do really need to get that missing content in there too! I could help with that if needs be. GloverMist (talk) 08:03, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
Don't forget the Octo Expansion levels. I worked on them in the past but it consumes a lot of time by just doing the level description alone unfortunately. Islar74 (talk) 20:32, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
It's difficult work, that's not exactly exciting to do, which is why they're so unkept. Snowwarrior92 did the majority of the Octo Valley walkthroughs, but the work was so strenuous and fatiguing, they resigned from the wiki when they were done.  KA467 🗩 🖿  21:16, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
So maybe it's best if many people contributed to their own part each? Maybe we could take one line each or something like that. We'd just have to be sure that the format etc. carries over. tecanec (talk) 09:54, 11 April 2019 (UTC) (Edit: Just realized this isn't octo expantion. Replace "line" with "area".)

Image Replacement

This picture is used for House-Party Station on the Octo-Expansion page. Looks odd since the Octoling is facing sideways. If it can be retaken so that the Octoling's back is facing the camera it would definitely look much better. List of site colours?

I was just making a chart on my sandbox, and was wondering how many "sitecolors" there are? I only know s2, s1, and generic. If someone could give me a list or something I would appreciate it :) Splattersky (talk) 05:23, 14 May 2019 (UTC)

Music

We should probably get the audio to all the music because most of them say error and don’t work and a lot of the songs don’t have a page probably worry about this later I wrote this just to point it out

You can add your name to the Music Articles section in Inkipedia:Current projects if you would like to contribute :) Recently, working on the music articles has been a big goal and we're definitely making progress! Splattersky (talk) 23:51, 31 May 2019 (UTC)

News section on front page

I feel like the news section is a bit neglected. Last article is Sheldon's picks and that was months ago... With huge news like the FinalFest and v5.0.0 I think it'd help if we revived that section

Shifty Station Promo Images

I recently came across a MASSIVE collection of promotional images for all the Shifty Station layouts sans the final layout for Chaos V Order. They can be found here. Note that they are all Japanese. Should we upload these pictures to the wiki? If we are, we might need to translate the text. S2 Icon Inkling Squid Green.png Splatana talk contribs S2 Icon Inkling Squid Pink.png 08:37, 20 June 2019 (UTC)

All of them except two (I think they're the same images?) have already been uploaded/translated and it's on the page under the "official naming" heading. It was just added to the page recently since Nintendo on twitter just started releasing the promo images and official names~ SundaeSquidS Weapon Main Octobrush.pngTalk 11:24, 20 June 2019 (UTC)

Shifty Station split

Now that each of the Shifty Stations have official English names and will each be playable as their own stage, I'm questioning if we should make separate pages for all of them, with the Shifty Station page being used to effectively "list" them all. I feel that there's a lot we could write about each of them -- especially after the 5.0.0 update when they'll become more accessible, though I'd like to hear the opinions of wiki administrators before we actually do something like this.

my only request is that i get to make the page for wayslide cool ShinyCelesteela (talk) 20:43, 21 June 2019 (UTC)

Seeing as my comment on the discussion page apparently didn't send, I think this is a great idea. The page will be enormous otherwise, and while there's nothing wrong with that, it would just be very helpful for them to each have separate pages, with their own 'Names in Other Languages' sections and whatnot. Quite a bit of work, especially with changing other hyperlinks, but ultimately worth it, I'd say! GloverMist (talk) 21:00, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
