When I found out that the Inkipedia logo is from Nintendo's old Splatoon website, I wondered if there would be any interest in replacing it with original art. Something original and fitting for an encyclopedia about Splatoon. Maybe art of a squid reading a book, or something like that.

We could have an art contest! With Splatoon 3 releasing this year, the number of active Inkipedia editors is increasing, and the more people involved, the better the contest would be; so, sometime this year would be an ideal time for such a contest. I could personally fund prizes which could include eshop gift cards or cash.

There is a technical reason to get a new logo: newer wiki skins require text-only and art-only versions of the logo in addition to the normal logo; we only have the normal logo, so new skins such as Vector 2022 or Timeless don't look as good as they should. So, if we were to hold an art contest, each entry would require 3 submissions: (1) the art-only logo, (2) the text-only logo, called a "wordmark", and (3) the logo with art and text combined.

Changing the logo is not something to be taken lightly, so there would be at least two rounds of voting. One vote to choose the art contest winner. Then, a second vote: art contest winner versus the current Inkipedia logo.

  • I think this would be nice, as a lot of the visuals here are starting to look pretty outdated. As for restrictions, I think only users who have the welcome message on their talk page present before the contest should be allowed to participate, so as to prevent people making an account for the sole purpose of partaking in this. I guess for prizes, maybe the winner could receive a box of assorted Splatoon 3-related goodies, like a plush and/or a t-shirt of some kind. User:Cynical Prince/Sig 21:15, 24 April 2022 (UTC)
  • Sounds fun! I can't promise anything, but I'll sure try to submit something if this happens. I don't know about a precise timeframe, but I think it should be long enough to let even busy people have a chance at making art. And as for restrictions, maybe give some for format (png, I assume?) or dimensions (square, not too small or too big)?

  • It'd be an interesting fresh start. I'm sure it'd take getting used to, but a new coat of paint might be what the wiki needs in view of the upcoming release. Splatoon Youtubers

Maybe we could add a section and pages dedicated to Splatoon Youtubers and their content like Viantastic, OctoBoy, Wadsm, etc. It's just a random idea and I really don't have ideas to support it, but what do you think and how should we turn this idea into reality?

Sometimes youtube videos are cited as a source of information, but other than that, there isn't anything else to say about them. They are out of scope for Inkipedia, because Inkipedia is a wiki about Splatoon. If there is a wiki about youtubers as people (there probably is), then that would be the place to create those pages. How can I customize my signature?

I read the page but I was still kinda confused about the custom signatures. It says to create a custom signature code or something like that but I'm stupid and don't know what that means or what to go to to do it. @Goldie: The easiest way to learn is to look at what other people did. If you saw someone's sig and you want to have one like theirs, look at the code to see how they did it, and you can copy it as a starting point for your own sig. The signature code is made using wiki markup, the same stuff that articles are built with! For example, the code [[User:Goldie|<span style="color: magenta;">Goldie</span>]] ([[User talk:Goldie|<span style="color: blue;">talk</span>]]) produces Goldie (talk). Info correctness

When I looked at the Nzap ´83 page, I saw one section that said its sub was Point Sensor and another that said it was the Sprinkler. It has a different sub and special in Splatoon and Splatoon 2. In splatoon, it has point sensor and kraken, while in Splatoon 2 it has sprinkler and ink storm. Hopefully that helped! OrderSquid123 (talk) 00:44, 16 May 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Octarian s3 section again

Hey umm so did anyone else see the news on the Octarians in splatoon 3- they were only screenshots but I would really like it if I could actually make a section for the Octarians in splatoon 3, I’ve tried this before but there wasn’t enough info so just asking again. - Octosquidfishyling?!?! (Also sorry I totally forgot how to link my name again :/)

@Octosquidfishyling?!?! Yes, you should make any improvements as you see fit. When it comes to editing wikis, it's best to be bold!
Note that all images have already been uploaded as far as I am aware; you can look at the Return of the Mammalians page or the relevant category page to easily find the images, as you will need their file name to add them to articles.
To automatically insert your signature with timestamp, type 4 tildes, like ~~~~. You can use the show preview button to verify that it inserts your signature before saving your comment.

What are some of the custom commands in this wiki?

E.g. how people put an image or different font on their signature, how to organize pages in a more appealing way, etc.

If you know some of them, please share! I’m new to wiki’s and there are so many stuff i see people doing but i don’t know how to lol :)

Links directly to images?

I came across some links that don't lead to a wikipage but instead to an image.

I found no rule against this in the guidelines but I personally think that a link that leads to a wikipage is more helpful.

e.g. Sunken Scroll 1 or Sunken Scroll 1

Either one is helpful, as it's nice to know what a sunken scroll looks like for those who do not have access to the scroll in their copy of either Splatoon or Splatoon 2. It's also there for people who do not know the name of the file. The first one is there for viewers who don't know what the scroll looks like, the second link is about the scroll. In the wiki page is the image of the scroll. If you click on the image, you get directed to the first link. If you still have questions, please reply. "Reporting a bug" page?

Well, I've run into three that I've noticed.
  1. The first glitch is on my user page, where my userboxes are a little bit glitched when viewing on desktop mode, however it doesn't appear on mobile view. There is a noticeable gap in between my Front Roe userbox and my custom manga userbox, but when looking at the source code, there's nothing out of the ordinary. This has been happening to me since another user swapped out my custom Front Roe userbox with the official one about a week ago.
  2. The second one just happened to me just a few minutes ago (could be a network issue, though), where no matter how many times I tried to log into Inkipedia, it would lead me to an error screen. It happened on both my laptop and my phone, but after a few minutes, it let me log in.
  3. The third one is when I try responding to people on talk pages, it’ll glitch the entire conversation, and I have to edit the source code to respond to people. If you look at my past edits on this page, you can see what it looks like.

For #1, the gap may be because the image for the manga user box is a rectangle instead of the usual square. Maybe try cropping it or switching to another image. For #2, if the error shows a white screen saying something like “503 Guru mediation fetch failure”, I’ve been noticing that a lot randomly on Bulbapedia, and they said they’re working on it, so it might be similar if you’re seeing the same message. 503 errors are usually caused by something being under maintenance, so maybe it was being edited a lot when you were trying to get on. As for 3, I don’t really know. Could be a connection error or maybe someone was editing the page at the same time. Hope this helped for 1 and 2 though. Well, I tried to switch out the image for the manga userbox, but it still didn't work. I even tried removing the userbox altogether, but the glitch still happens.
As for the second one, I think that was the case.

Font Page

Fonts have little to do with Inkipedia and more to do with general computing and web browsing. Any font installed on your computer can be displayed in the web browser. You can use CSS code like style="font-family: Georgia, serif;" to say "I want the Georgia font to be displayed if available, and if it's not available, just choose the default font in the serif family of fonts".
The only difference with Inkipedia is that you can use <span style="font-family: Splatoon;">Splatoon</span> and <span style="font-family: Splatoon2;">Splatoon 2</span> for the Splatoon and Splatoon 2 fonts without installing the fonts on your computer, because they are automatically downloaded and placed in your web browser's storage cache the first time you visit Inkipedia. Strategy pages

I was browsing the strategy page and I noticed that some weapons aren't covered, such as the Goo Tuber. I was hoping for some strategy with the Goo Tuber as I am trying to get better at maining it. Updating URLs

Hey team. Now that https://splatoon.nintendo.com/ directs to a Splatoon 3 game site, does each instance of this URL's in reference to Splatoon 2 have to be amended individually, or is there a central/streamlined way to update URLs on a wiki?
