Creating proposals for new policies

Are we allowed to do this here? If so, is there any particular template or special procedure that needs to be put in place? Nyargleblargle (Talk · Contribs) 16:38, 3 October 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Amendment Suggestion

I've discussed it with a couple of admins but I feel like I should bring it up with the rest before actually going through with it. I suggest to amend the "7 NOs of Inkipedia" section by adding a small footnote below it, or, perhaps, a subsection / subpage regarding the topic of mini-modding and what should be done if a violation is found by a user. I suggest that it encourage users to bring up the violation to an admin or mark it for deletion instead of taking it upon themselves to warn the violator. While rare, I've seen it occur in other wikis and forums. I don't think it should so much be punished, but rather discouraged. Let me know what you all think, please. /Syl (talk) 01:36, 1 May 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I'm up for adding something, as long as it's well-defined. I don't think anything is inherently wrong with someone warning another editor about bad behavior, doing something wrong, etc., but of course there are times where something should be handed off to an administrator before getting heated. Maybe something could be added to Inkipedia:Policy/Talk pages as a guideline. ~SuperHamster Talk 03:48, 22 July 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Proposal: Personal image limit

I'd like to propose an addition to our image guidelines: a limit to the number of personal images one can upload. Personal images would be ones that are uploaded to be used exclusively in one's userspace, with no foreseeable use elsewhere on the wiki. The point of this limit would be to prevent a stockpile of unusable photos over the years, especially as editors come and go and leave their personal images behind. I think a reasonable number could be 10 - it's a pretty hard limit to hit (not many have hit it yet, if any), but it would preemptively prevent someone from uploading a slew of them over time. Thoughts? ~SuperHamster Talk 03:39, 22 July 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I approve with the proposal, I think 10 is a pretty good limit for the amount of images that are uploaded to be used exclusively in one's userspace, but I think with the exception of Splatfest images that represent the team you chose, since there were 16 splatfests and some users like to post images of the team they chose. Yeah, I have a picture of all 15 of my ballot boxes. :::Luke Talk Contribs::: 12:40, 22 July 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I appreciate the move to cut down on spam, but how much of a problem is or will this be? Perhaps @Prod can give us some insight on server loading.
The proposal may not have to be a hard limit - i.e. if you're uploading Splatoon related content that is being used, then does anyone really mind if you've got 10 or 100 images? If you're uploading all your holiday photos then clearly that's a problem.

Minor Edit

Just out of curiosity, what exactly constitutes a minor edit for the sake of marking it as such? Thanks! ShadowLugia250 (talk) 12:35, 23 April 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It's not really an issue which one you choose, but generally minor edits are ones that don't add, remove, or change any significant details of the article, so are usually used for things like grammar or small wording changes. But don't worry about it too much, nobody will mind! GloverMist (talk) 13:02, 23 April 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Copying from other sites

Is copying directly from other sites (for example copy-pasting something requiring permission without permission), part of vandalism or another one of the 7 Inkipedia NO's? Dumb question, but I'm just curious. Also do sources for images have to be added along with the image? Just wondering! Thanks! :) ArivakiVA (talk) 21:38, 13 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

What sites do you want to copy from? It might not be an issue with Inkipedia policies, but it could be an issue with the site you copy from. For the images, add the source to the summary when you upload it. It isn't necessary to include the source in the page you put the image in, unless it is particularly relevant  GX_64 (talk)  03:07, 14 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It is absolutely not permitted. Content provided MUST be attributed if it is taken elsewhere, but as much written material as possible should be originally done. Trig - 03:19, 14 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I wasn't wanting to copy something myself, I just wanted to know just in case I see it happen. Thank you both so much, by the way! ArivakiVA (talk) 16:42, 14 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I don't think Inkipedia has a copyvio template or similar so if you catch something might be copied without attribution, I would work to replace it ASAP! Trig - 20:04, 14 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Ah, okay! Thank you! ArivakiVA (talk) 16:49, 24 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Is there a reason behind this?

I'm trying to make a new tab and it says that I am banned from making pages. Never made one in my life. Why? Chrome Wolf🐺 (🎙). 00:11, 24 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Are you 100% sure that it says "Banned"?. Some pages are protected for vandals to don't be able to ruin them, that page protection restricts normal users to edit them, that doesn't mean you are banned, you only doesn't count with the permissions required to edit it. Hope this helps Platelet✨(talk👌🏻) 01:56, 24 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yes Chrome Wolf🐺 (🎙). 02:14, 24 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Can you provide a screenshot of what it says? Trig - 14:14, 24 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

About the User Content Policy

(Apologies if I put this in the wrong place, I wasn't really sure!) The User Content Policy says that I'm now limited to 7 personal images. A while ago I uploaded some personal image(s, I don't know the amount) (splashtags), and now that the images are outdated, I'd like to take them down so I can go back to the normal limit for personal images. How should I go about this? Do I contact an admin? - S3 Badge Splatana Stamper 5.png splat.dualies S3 Badge Zipcaster 1200.png ( talk ) 03:22, 11 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Just add {{delete|unused user image}} to whichever ones you no longer want. Trig - 05:02, 11 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
