Edit Count

I had an idea that, when requesting rights, you should say how many edits you have made and what percentage of those are "real" edits. This is an important factor in deciding whether to approve a request or not. To find out this information you can use Fumple's edit counter. I want approval from an admin before I make this official because this is an important topic. Eminence Chatter 19:08, 22 October 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I don't think it's something that should be necessary. People are able to check for themselves if they think it's something important but also it can change drastically in the course of voting if people are editing a lot. Luke26 (talk) 13:36, 23 October 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Well, just an idea. Eminence Chatter 13:47, 23 October 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Can i get patroller rights

I have been on 25 days,am online every 6 hours,am helpful, trustworthy and also edit on other media wikis (tho im not as active).I always had to revert vandalism on fandom,is this enough?--PrinzTheOverlord [Talk] 19:36, 15 November 2020 (UTC) Reply[reply]

The proper procedures for requesting rights can be found on Inkipedia:Requests for Rights. I'd recommend waiting a while longer and continuing to edit and monitor recent changes though. Luke26 (talk) 21:14, 15 November 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Err,

Is anyone going to delete my request? its been up for 2 months Squidmaster Talking 20:37, 7 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Done, thanks! Luke26 (talk) 22:59, 7 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

We really should add sockpuppeting

I think we need to mention this in the do nots--Astor Astor.png Prinz.png 20:52, 31 January 2021 (UTC)Italic textReply[reply]

I think that is already covered with the multiple accounts policy. Heddy (talk) 22:20, 1 February 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

How long do requests stay active?

How long do requests stay active before it is archived? I think we need to address this in the RfR page. Some requests, like Shahar's were active for over a month before Shahar was promoted. Also, SQUIDKID2000's RfR was not archived for two months after it was clear he would not be promoted. I think we need to have a limit on how long a RfR can be active before the request is closed. EminenceTalk 16:21, 1 February 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

There is no set rule. I think we should write two weeks, or maybe a month. Does anyone have an opinion on the timeframe? Heddy (talk) 22:15, 1 February 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Two weeks sounds good to me! I think that gives active users plenty of time to vote. EminenceTalk 22:22, 1 February 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Three to four weeks give enough time for people to vote and write their opinion. In case there's a definitive result, maybe shorten it to two weeks. Shahar (talk) 22:23, 1 February 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I agree with you about closing early if there is a definitive result. Four weeks, but allow it to be closed in two weeks if there is a complete consensus (meaning everyone votes the same way). Heddy (talk) 22:32, 1 February 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I agree. Someone should add it to the page then. EminenceTalk 23:30, 1 February 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Done. Heddy (talk) 01:20, 2 February 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Revenge

Is it allowed for users to vote against you because you reverted their edit? This could be considered a form of retaliation, and you are not supposed to vote in retaliation. Just asking, because I don't think anyone has voted in retaliation before. EminenceTalk 13:49, 2 February 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Don't bother with this. EminenceTalk 14:27, 2 February 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Me Being a Patroller.

I want to be a Patroller. I have 100+ edits. # Reason for Voting: I am really good at coding ~~Splat.girl~~ Splat.girl (talk) 18:22, 20 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

How many edits do you have, exactly? I'm just curious, but normally if you have around only 100 or so edits, you don't quite have enough experience. Not trying to sound rude, sorry. Maybe go here; Inkipedia:Requests for Rights if you haven't quite read it all already? ArivakiVA (talk) 18:28, 20 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Regarding what I said about not having enough experience, I wasn't trying to sound rude, I was just using what I've heard from other request for rights commenters. ArivakiVA (talk) 18:30, 20 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I have around 119 edits. I understand That I don't have enough experience (also, that could be because I'm a kid), I will come back here when I have 1,000 edits. I just wanted to see if I could be a Patroller. Splat.girl (talk) 22:55, 21 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
There's no specific number of edits to get, but it's good to gain experience and help the wiki by making high quality changes to articles, and by reviewing and improving others' edits from recent changes. After a few months or so, when you feel confident that you are ready, then you should review the instructions at Inkipedia:Requests for Rights and submit the application. Heddy (talk) 00:11, 22 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I get what you're saying. In a few months I will come back here to submit a new application. I know I have 122 edits. Thank you for reading this. Splat.girl (talk) 13:29, 22 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Alright! I hope you become a patroller in the future! (I'm working towards being one too! ;)) ArivakiVA (talk) 17:04, 22 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

My application for being a patroller

I have 214 edits, I know a lot since I joined, expect I am not so well of what 'vandalism' means. Splat.girl (talk) 22:22, 1 January 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi Splat.girl,
  • This is not the application page, this is a talk page to talk about anything related to rights requests. Feel free to continue to use this page if you have questions, but if you want to apply you will need to follow the instructions at Inkipedia:Requests for Rights.
  • I see that you have made 214 edits. However, only 5 of those edits were made to Inkipedia articles (mainspace). The rest of your edits were on user pages and talk pages, meaning they were not direct contributions to improve Inkipedia. Patrollers are expected to have plenty of experience with editing wikis, so I suggest making many more mainspace edits before requesting patroller rights.
  • "Vandalism" is when someone intentionally makes an article worse by inserting bad information or by removing good information. Our policy page that provides more details on vandalism can be found at this link: Inkipedia:Policy/Vandalism. Patrollers are expected to already have experience reverting vandalism before applying to become patroller. Anyone, even someone who has just signed up for Inkipedia, can revert vandalism by reviewing recent changes and undoing the bad change. Heddy (talk) 22:37, 1 January 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Ok, I see, I see. I'll try to edit some more things Inkipedia. But, if I do have a 1,000 edits to inkipedia (mainspace) then, where would I go to submit a application? Splat.girl (talk) 13:52, 2 January 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
If you go to the page Inkipedia:Requests for Rights it will tell you how to make and submit and application. Odd S2 Splatfest Icon McNuggets.png (Talk) 15:54, 2 January 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

How long until you can request again?

If a request has been either denied or if no one voted during the 4 weeks the request was open, how many months does it take until you are allowed to request again? I'm not sure if it was listed on the page itself. Thanks OrderSquid38 New Squid.jpg OrderSquid38 [Talk] 09:06, 14 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

We uh, don't actually have a threshold for it. Might be an oversight. That being said, if you are denied, its pretty safe to say immediately applying again will not work out very well, so consider re-applying carefully as necessary. Trig Jegman - 15:39, 14 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
You think we should make a threshold for that, or leave it as is? Just curious, since it does seem like a weird oversight that has gone unnoticed for...a long time.
