Template:InfoboxCharacter Jel La Fleur is a character in Splatoon 3 and runs the clothing shop in Splatsville, Man-o'-Wardrobe.

Personality and traits

Jel La Fleur is enthusiastic and up-to-date regarding fashion, but is very snooty and looks down on his customers, even saying that the supposed superiority of his Tableturf Battle deck could serve as "a comfort in [the player's] pitiful defeat." Similarly to how Jelfonzo uses outdated Inkling due to learning the language through ancient text, Jel La Fleur uses archaic speech mannerisms.

A jellyfish with a keen eye for fashion.
Jel La Fleur may be soft and squishy, but the trendy clothing this jellyfish offers is on point. Jel runs the clothing boutique Man-O’-Wardrobe[sic], which specializes in tops like T-shirts and jackets. These stylish items have function as well as form—they come with abilities that can help you in battle.

  • "Ah, you are here. Good. Or not. Tell me - can one below level 4 not see one's own level? The audacity of shopping at such a low level! Please, visit the lobby and partake of many Turf War battles before you return. I REQUIRE IT." - When a player below level 4 enters the shop.
  • "Ah, you are here. Good. Welcome to Man-o'-Wardrobe. I see that you are a fresh and fashionable person, so I will allow you to shop here. HOWEVER! You must respect the merchandise. Filthy hands are a lifetime ban. Now then, surely you are aware of gear abilities, yes? These can help you fight and win battles. Do you wish to attain the same level of knowledge as me? Then press and prepare to learn!" - When a player of level 4 or up enters the shop for the first time.
  • "You think I haven't noticed? That you have attained level 10? I NOTICE ALL! Do not think that you have become so fresh that our clothing cannot make you fresher yet!" - When a player enters the shop after reaching level 10.
  • "The day has come. You have become fresh enough to impress even me. Will you become the next great fashion icon? I will do everything in my power to make it so." - When a player enters the shop after reaching level 30.
  • "Ah, now we encounter what I call a "fashion conundrum." You have a choice to make...When clothing that you already own is in stock, you can raise its star power or trade in your clothing to reset its abilities. So? What say you? In this matter, Jel La Fleur cannot advise you." - When a player's clothing stock includes an already-purchased item for the first time.
  • "Ah, you are here. Good. Or not. It seems you are disconnected from the internet. Is this the style now? I WILL NOT ABIDE IT. Make your way to the lobby and connect before fashion changes again." - When entering the shop without an internet connection.

  • "Ahem. There is something I should bring to your attention. You have bought many clothes from me and worn them with respect and panache. Therefore I have prepared an item of thanks. BEHOLD. I give you now the badge of fashion. It is yours to wear in style." - After spending 100,000 coins' worth at Man-o'-Wardrobe

When a player below level 4 enters the shop:
(Ah, there you are. I would gladly welcome you, but I suspect that my fashion is somewhat too ambitious for your modest level. Can you perhaps raise your level to a minimum of level 4? I recommend you to go to the lobby and to play multiple parties of Turf War. That will undoubtedly benefit your level.)
When a player of level 4 or up enters the shop for the first time:
  • "Ah, daar bent u dan. Welkom in Modusa.
(Oh, there you are. Welcome to Man-o'-Wardrobe. You come across as fresh and fashionable enough to me to shop here. However, I urge you not to besmear my merchandise! Do not touch anything if your tentacles are covered in ink! As you may know, wearing gear come with certain abilities. Those abilities give you advantages in battle. In addition to clothing, I am willing to display my knowledge. You should press sometime to take advantage of my expertise.)
When a player of level 10 or up enters the shop for the first time:
  • "U heeft niveau 10 bereikt. Bravo! Modusa's kleding."
(You have reached level 10. Bravo! Your freshness is beyond dispute, but you can still become fresher with the right clothes. Man-o'-Wardrobe's clothes.)
When a player of level 20 or up enters the shop for the first time:
(Your freshness has once again reached a higher level. It is my pleasure to see that you have learned much from me.)
When a player of level 30 or up enters the shop for the first time:
(Allow me to say that your freshness knows no bounds. You are already being called a fashion icon, which I, as your stylist, can wholeheartedly agree with.)
When spending at least 10.000 cash for the first time:
  • "Ahem.
(Ahem. There's something I want to discuss with you. Something positive. You have now purchased a large quantity of my clothing and have strolled around town with it. In gratitude for your loyal patronage and fashion sense, I offer you this badge. I am sure you will wear it with style.)
When entering the shop without an internet connection:
  • "Ah, daar bent u dan. Welkom in...
(Oh, there you are. Welcome to... Oh, that is disappointing. I did hear about it is fashion to not be connected to the internet, but that does not apply in my establishment. Can you correct this faux pas in the lobby?)
When entering the shop:
  • "Ah, daar bent u dan. Welkom in Modusa."
(Oh, there you are. Welcome to Man-o'-Wardrobe.)
When entering the shop through or :
  • "Ah, daar bent u dan."
(Oh, there you are.)
When the shop stocks a piece of already-owned clothing for the first time:
(I do not envy the fashion dilemma you face... When you own clothes I have in stock, you can choose to raise the star power of your clothes or to trade in the clothes to reverse its abilities. The choice is yours, I cannot decide what is best for you.)
When selecting a piece of clothing:
  • "Is dit uw keuze?"
(Is this your choice?)
When selecting a piece of already-owned clothing:
(Think carefully about your choice. Do you want your clothes' star power raised or traded in to reverse its abilities?)
When selecting a piece of already-bought clothing on the same day:
(Are you looking for an extra sample? As a trader, I cannot advise you against this, but I cannot recommend it to you either.)
When trying to trade in a piece of clothing that has the same main ability:
  • "Neen, neen.
(Nay, nay. These items have the same main ability. So don't bother changing them, the result remains the same.)
When buying a piece of clothing:
  • "Wilt u dit dragen?"
(You want to wear this?)
After buying a piece of clothing:
  • "Uitstekend.
(Excellent. If you want to change clothes, then that is possible in the equip screen.)
After buying a piece of clothing during a Splatfest:
(I thank you kindly. You will have to pack these clothes away until after the Splatfest. It is a faux pas to wear clothes other than what the Splatfest prescribes.)
When the player has not enough cash:
(I am sorry to point this out to you, but you seem to be too short on cash to buy this.)

Trivia

  • Despite him being a jellyfish, his shop's name and his appearance are based on a man o' war, a hydrozoan which resembles and is often believed to be a jellyfish, yet is actually a siphonophore, a colonial organism made up of many individual unicellular organisms.
  • Unlike Jelonzo and Jelfonzo before him, Jel La Fleur's attire doesn't change depending on the day of the week.
