Legwear is an item of clothing worn by Inklings and Octolings. Unlike gear, legwear is entirely aesthetic, having no gameplay effect. Starting from Splatoon 2, legwear can be changed in the Player Settings.

Splatoon

In Splatoon, legwear is not changeable. All Inklings wear black shorts with a stripe of the wearer's ink color on either side. The Inkling boys' shorts are slightly longer than the girls', going down to their knees.

The School Uniform adds a skirt (that changes color to match the wearer's ink) only when worn by girls.

Splatoon 2

In Splatoon 2, legwear is available as a default customization option like hairstyle, eye color, and skin color. Various legwear options are available in addition to the shorts from the previous game, though available legwear options depend on the player character's gender. Three legwear options were added to the game in version 2.0.0, namely the leggings (shared with both genders), loose sport shorts, and loose denim shorts.

In addition to the returning School Uniform, the Enchanted Robe (when worn by boys) and School Cardigan (when worn by girls) also come with additional legwear.

Splatoon 3

In Splatoon 3, legwear customization returns, with all legwear styles from Splatoon 2 returning; there are also four new legwear options, for a total of twelve. In this game, like with hairstyles, any legwear option can now be selected regardless of the player character's style.
