List of minor companies
This is a list of companies that have provided additional support on the Splatoon series. These companies were not the primary developers or publishers, but instead helped to create elements of the games, and are listed in their respective credits.
Agni-Flare
AGNI-FLARE CO., LTD. is a Japanese VFX company founded in December 2010. They provide a variety of visual effects, 2D and 3D art, animation, and programming support for many major video game producers, as well as anime and movies.
They are credited under 'Special Thanks' in Splatoon 3.
Alvion
ALVION Inc. is a Japanese video game developer and publisher founded in November 1996. The company works with its subsidiary, Ullucus Ltd., to independently create games for a variety of platforms, including on Nintendo systems, while also providing graphic design and video creation. They also offer development support for other games created by larger publishers, including Nintendo.
They are credited under 'Special Thanks' in the Octo Expansion.
Applibot
Applibot, Inc. is a Japanese video game planning specialist founded in July 2010 and a subsidiary of the digital advertising company CyberAgent. They operate on a self-described "diverse array of services" for games on consoles and smart devices, from management strategy to business models, and are a notable developer of mobile games.
They are credited under 'Special Thanks' in Splatoon 3.
Bandai Namco
Bandai Namco Studios Inc. is a major multinational video game developer. Officially founded as Namco Bandai Studios Inc. in April 2012, it is the development subsidiary of the publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment, itself owned by the Japan-based multimedia entertainment conglomerate, Bandai Namco Holdings.
Widely regarded as one of the most well-known companies in the video game industry since its merger between Namco and Bandai in 2006, its development arm is responsible for many major franchises such as Pac-Man and Tekken, while also having a long working relationship with developing major Nintendo games.
Their Singapore and Malaysia branches, established in 2013 and 2016 respectively, are credited under 'Special Thanks' in Splatoon 3.
Digital Hearts
DIGITAL Hearts Co., Ltd. is a Japanese company, formed in April 2001 to provide independent testing and debugging for a large variety of video games by several major publishers, including Nintendo. The company and its divisions, including its American one founded in October 2011, additionally help with marketing and sales for their clients' games.
They are credited under 'Debug' in the Splatoon series.
Digital Media Lab
DIGITAL MEDIA LAB., INC. is a Japanese production services company founded in March 1995. They work with many major clients across gaming on licensing, development, and production, as well as the creation of CGI content for television and film.
They are credited under 'Special Thanks' in Splatoon 3.
Hatena
Hatena Co., Ltd. is a Japanese online services creation company, founded in July 2001. The company runs a wide variety of popular Internet services mainly based in Japan, from blog hosting and social bookmarking to messaging, but has also created some international products in collaboration with Nintendo. Their work includes several online components of popular Nintendo products, including Flipnote Studio and Miiverse.
They helped develop SplatNet 2 and SplatNet 3 and are listed alongside Nintendo in their credits.
Lemon Sky
LEMON SKY Studios is a Malaysian CGI production studio founded in 2006. They are best known for the creation of animation and art in many major video games from several publishers but also produce CGI-animated TV series.
They are credited under 'Special Thanks' in Splatoon 3.
Mario Club
Mario Club Co., Ltd. is a Japanese fully-owned subsidiary of Nintendo, traditionally used for testing and quality control in many of Nintendo's first-party games. Originally known as the Super Mario Club, a division of Nintendo used since the 1980s, the group spun off into its own company in July 2009 and receives credit for the vast majority of Nintendo games.
They are credited under 'Debug' in the Splatoon series, similar to most of their credits in other games.
Monolith Soft
Monolith Soft Inc., also known as Monolith Software Inc., is a Japanese video game developer and a fully-owned subsidiary of Nintendo. Founded in October 1999, it was created by former Square and Namco employees and as a result, was owned by Namco, and later Namco Bandai after their merger in March 2006. At this time, it was primarily a developer of RPGs such as the Xenosaga and Baten Kaitos series.
After changes to Namco Bandai's corporate structure in the early 2000s, the company was bought out by Nintendo in April 2007 and since then has worked as a developer exclusively for Nintendo systems, most notably creating the Xenoblade Chronicles series. In 2011, an additional studio was established in Kyoto, Japan, near Nintendo's headquarters. This company branch provides additional development support on many of Nintendo's first-party titles, including The Legend of Zelda and Animal Crossing series.
They are credited under 'Special Thanks' in the Splatoon series.
PTW
PTW Pte. Ltd. is a Singapore-based subsidiary of multinational video game testing and localization company Pole To Win Holdings Inc. Founded in January 1994, they assist across over 35 studios with quality assurance to a huge number of development clients, including many Nintendo games.
Their Singapore (Taiwan Branch), Shanghai, and Korea offices are credited under 'Localization' in Splatoon 3.
SRD
SRD Co., Ltd., also known as Systems Research and Development, is a Japanese video game programming company founded in January 1979 and a fully-owned subsidiary of Nintendo. Providing development support almost exclusively on Nintendo games throughout their history, their headquarters are even located inside Nintendo's building.
They are credited under 'Special Thanks' in Splatoon 3.
Testronic
Testronic Laboratories Ltd. is a multinational video game support company headquartered in the United Kingdom and founded in 1998. They work extensively on outsourced quality control, player support, and localization with many different gaming companies.
They are credited under 'Localization' in Splatoon 3.
Tose
Tose Co., Ltd., also known as Tose Software, is a Japanese video game developer formed in November 1979. Consistently providing development support on over 1,000 games for a variety of companies, they are almost always left uncredited at their request. Having an ongoing relationship with Nintendo, their most notable credited works include the Game & Watch Gallery and The Legendary Starfy series.
In a rare credited appearance, they are listed under 'Special Thanks' in Splatoon 2.
