Matchmaker Station is a test in Splatoon 2's paid downloadable content, the Octo Expansion. This station is unlocked after clearing Abracadabra Station, Smash & Dash Station, Duh-Oh Station, or Jump Station.

Access

The player must pass either C11 Abracadabra Station, C13 Smash & Dash Station, F06 Duh-Oh Station, or F08 Jump Station.

Walkthrough

The player has one life to destroy crates to match the shape on the left. If they break an incorrect box, they will fail the test. The player will be able to choose from the Squeezer or the Splat Charger, both with a Splat Bomb. The Squeezer is a quick and efficient way to destroy the crates, while the Splat Charger, sometimes needing a careful hand, can break multiple crates with one shot. On the model, there is small Splat-Switch on the left ear, flipping a platform to reveal two power egg packs in front of the model and one pack behind the crates.

Collectibles

How long must I wait in his line? Such tragic lack of Crusty snack... I'm almost there! It will be mine!

Completing this test awards the player with the Crusty Sean mem cake.

Make sure you take a good look at the example shape, OK?
Fully charged shots will go straight through crates, so take care!

Take extra care when shooting out the little details, Agent 8!
That means there's gotta be something left that you're supposed to shave off...
Wow - you're not even going to take a moment to admire our work?

OK - so you're supposed to shoot out crates on the right until they look like this, huh?
Wait a second, hold on... I've seen this shape before...
Going full auto is probably a terrible idea... Feather that trigger for the win!

Arrrgggh... I just wanna blow this whole thing sky-high!
Is it seriously not done?!
YESSS! Head for the goal!

Trivia

  • The title is a reference to a real-world matchmaker.
  • The subtitle is a reference to Bugs Bunny's catchphrase "What's up, doc?", as well as the fact the example statue looks like a dog. It is also likely to be a reference to the popular joke centered on tricking a target into asking "What's updog?"
    • Despite this, in an interview with Famitsu, the developers confirmed that the statue is modelled after Judd, a cat. This is supported in-game by Pearl saying the shape looks familiar to her.
      • It has also been confirmed that Commander Tartar's creator was also Judd's owner, further supporting this.
  • This station has many colored vinyl phonograph records or LP records floating around in the background.
    • The Dutch title of this station, "Wat een plaatje!", alludes to these records.
