Morning vs. Afternoon vs. Night, also known as SpringFest, was a seasonal special Splatfest in Splatoon 3. It was announced on social networks on 21 March 2025.[1]
Details

As a special Splatfest, SpringFest is accompanied by several cosmetic changes to the game, carrying over from Baby Chicks vs. Li'l Bunnies vs. Bear Cubs:
- Splatsville, Inkopolis Plaza, and Inkopolis Square are decorated with a spring theme. These decorations include flowers, artificial cherry trees, paper parasols, Easter eggs, colorful Moai statues, streamers, pennants, and a statue of a cartoon tuna mascot seen in various other locations throughout the game. The egg held by the chicken statue in Splatsville is repainted to resemble an Easter egg, while the pig statue wears an Easter egg hat. The kitsune and tanuki statues in Inkopolis Plaza are wearing flower crowns. Various structures in Inkopolis Square, including the origami crane and the tortoise statue, are covered in a fluorescent ooze that shifts between the colors of the three teams, similar to all special Splatfests in Splatoon 2. Bubbles drift through the air in all three hubs, and the sky is colored with a pink-light peach gradient.
- The camera angle for the title screen is modified in certain hubs. Inkopolis Square, for example, depicts the Galleria instead of Deca Tower.
- In the lobby, translucent stickers shaped like fish and Easter eggs appear when the floor and wall are inked.
- Deep Cut, the Squid Sisters, and Off the Hook wear special outfits.
- Shiver's eyebrows and hair change to light green, the latter having a gradient to teal towards the tips. She wears a pink sakura earring in place of her usual ones, and a sakura crown in place of her headband. Her shawl has a teal-to-pink gradient, and a large, aqua flower-shaped pendant with white dots in the center and dark green tassels instead of her usual one. Her legwear also fades from teal to pink from her pants to her shoes, which have pink soles. Furthermore, her fingertips are colored aqua.
- Frye's hair, eyelashes, eyebrows, and pants all feature a pink-to-aqua gradient; she also wears red lipstick. Her top and shawl both change to coral red, and the squid-shaped clip on her belt is replaced with a large white floral one with pink polka-dots. Her earrings and hairpiece are replaced with new ones styled after hanami dango; her fingertips and toe tips are colored pink.
- Big Man's body sheen has a teal-to-pink gradient. He has two red circles painted on his cheeks resembling blush marks, and his usual headpiece is replaced with a large one made of three green flowers with pink dots connected with lines painted on the insides; the rope hanging from it is also pink.
- Callie and Marie wear pastel versions of their normal outfits, with both of them having several accents in the opposite's color. Callie wears a pastel pink romper with all her usually white accessories colored aqua, while Marie wears a pastel green dress, with all her usually white accessories colored pink. Both of them wear striped tights; Callie's usual headpiece is replaced with an aqua Easter egg shell (though it retains the leaf underneath) while Marie's is replaced with a green one, both with pink markings. Callie's boots are recolored pink with aqua highlights, and Marie's are recolored green with pink highlights. Callie has an aqua flower mark painted on her right cheek, while Marie has a lime green one on her left.
- Pearl wears a Gothic metal-inspired outfit with a spiky dark purple crown and studded collar alongside her usual gloves, and a long, low-cut black T-shirt with a white design that represents an Inkling and an Octoling's tentacles side by side. The straps of her top are visible over her otherwise bare shoulders. She wears fishnet stockings over black pantyhose, and high platform boots with chains wrapped around the ankles and skull designs on the tongues. The tips of Pearl's tentacles feature pastel green spots.
- Marina wears a pair of headphones with a wire-mesh pattern on the ears, a white sporty bralette, and a black mesh garment on top of it, covering her neck and the top of her cleavage, and reaching down to the middle and ring fingers of her hands. She wears long white hip-hop pants with plain black ankle boots, and her tentacles take on a sea green-to-pink gradient. Her fingertips and navel piercing are colored purple.
- Characters in the cities and lobby such as Jellyfish, Staff, Judd, Murch, and Smallfry all wear pastel green, pastel pink, and aqua party hats decorated with various patterns.
- A special news article in the Nintendo Switch news will reward players with four unique pieces of headgear and eight pieces of shoes returning from the Splatoon 2 Splatfest event Hare vs. Tortoise:
- Music is added or modified for the Splatfest.
- A special progressive pop song, Meadowlark, plays in the lobby instead of Soak & Stomp. Crab-N-Go also plays a unique circus-style theme.
- The title screen has a new sound, along with the Deep Cut intro.
- Anarchy Poisons is modified for the Splatfest to add xylophones and a jaw harp.
- Anarchy Rainbow is given an Irish-styled arrangement.
- Opening is modified to add xylophones, bagpipes, and fiddles.
- Ego Overboard and Still Swimmin' are remixed with a "bouncier" theme, with Ego Overboard played in swing time and featuring additional vocals from Big Man.
- The start of a battle is modified with bubbles appearing in the center of the screen. Bubbles also fill the air during the first few seconds of a match.
- This Splatfest has a special ink variant, with flecks in the other teams' colors resembling confetti or sprinkles being mixed in. This ink effect is not applied during mirror matches with the same team.
- The TV screens in Splatsville display unique videos related to the spring theme of the Splatfest.
The Tricolor Turf War stages for this Splatfest were Robo ROM-en and Bluefin Depot.

||
Pasquale![]() « On va peut-être finir l'émission d'abord, si t'y vois pas d'inconvénient ? » (We will maybe finish the broadcast first, if you don't mind?) |
||
Notes: Shiver starts speaking as soon as Frye finished her quote, interrupting her.
Raimi![]() « Ay ? (Mais au fait, on répétera quand si on se met pas d'accord là-dessus ?) » (Ay? (But by the way, when will we rehearse if we don't agree on this?)) |
||
Pasquale![]() « Il suffit de laisser le festival décider. On calera les répètes en fonction du vainqueur. » (Just let the Splatfest decide. We will schedule the rehearsals based on the winner.) |
||
Pasquale![]() « Autrement dit, si je l'emporte, on déplace les séances à 5 h du matin pétantes. » (In other words, if I win, we move the sessions at 5 in the morning sharp.) |
Angie![]() « Nan ! Il faut que le camp de l'aprèm gagne ! C'est une question de lit ou de mort ! » (No! Team afternoon has to win! It's a matter of bed or death!) |
|
Notes: une question de lit ou de mort is a pun on une question de vie ou de mort ("a matter of life or death") and lit ("bed").
Angie![]() « Et oubliez pas l'équipement de printemps dans les Nouvelles de la Nintendo Switch ! » (And don't forget the Spring gear in the Nintendo Switch News!) |
Raimi![]() « Ay ! (Oui, allez vite le récupérer ! Pour bien liquider, liquidez printanier !) » (Ay! (Yes, go quickly get it! Spring splatting is good splatting!)) |

Trivia
- The initial announcement for this Splatfest by the official North American Splatoon Twitter account named the second team "Noon" rather than its in-game name "Afternoon".[2]
- The Pearlescent Squidkid IV have been depicted on the Dapple Dualies card since the release of Splatoon 3, making them the longest unavailable piece of gear depicted in Tableturf Battle until their addition alongside the SpringFest announcement on 21 March 2025.
- Unlike most Splatfest reminders, the text in NintendoEurope and NintendoAUNZ's posts is different. The NintendoEurope post contains a pun on the word "spring", which is removed in the NintendoAUNZ post, likely due to Australia and New Zealand being in the southern hemisphere, where it is autumn instead of spring.
- Team Night was the most popular team to win a Splatfest in Splatoon 3, overtaking Team Ghost by 5.55%. It was also the most popular Splatfest team in Splatoon 3 to date, overtaking Team Saturday by 2%.
