Overview

During this station's test, the player must break all 30 crates in order to pass it. They will do this while riding on ride rails which only appear after each of the crates corresponding to the previous ride rail have been broken. Failing to break any crate will not make the next ride rail appear and leaves the player with nowhere to go but the abyss. Since this test uses only one checkpoint, which is located at the beginning, failing to break a crate means the player has to begin the test from the start.

Ride rail 1

When starting the test, a launchpad will lead to the first ride rail. Quickly after landing there will be a crate above a Sanitized Octowasher and a column under three Power Eggs to the left soon followed by an Octowasher on the rail carrying a crate, which has to be jumped over. Breaking the crate will make the next ride rail appear to the left.

Ride rail 2

Jump onto the next ride rail to the left which goes in the opposite direction than before. It makes a turn to the right followed by a column under three Power Eggs and an Octowasher carrying a crate to the left and leads to an Octowasher with a Squid Ring above it. Breaking the crate makes another ride rail appear to the left.

Ride rail 3

Jump onto the next ride rail to the left which briefly goes parallel to the previous one before that one ends. At that point, there is another Octowasher on the rail carrying a crate that has to be jumped over. The rail ends with another one to the right; jump to the right. An Octowasher carrying a crate is moving on the rail and is approaching. Jump over it and there is another ride rail to the left with an Octowasher under a Squid Ring on it; jump to the left. Past that Octowasher there is another Octowasher carrying a crate on the left. Breaking the three crates makes another ride rail appear to the left.

Ride rail 4

Jump onto the next ride rail to the left which goes in the opposite direction than before. Two Squid Rings have appeared followed by a column under three Power Eggs. The rail makes a turn to the right followed by an Octowasher carrying a crate to the left and quickly thereafter one carrying a crate on the rail which has to be jumped over. On the left, there is another ride rail with a moving Octowasher carrying a crate approaching. Breaking the three crates makes another ride rail appear to the left.

Ride rail 5

Jump onto the aforementioned ride rail with the Octowasher to the left to immediately jump onto the next ride rail to the left. A Squid Ring has appeared. The ride rail curves upwards to the right followed by an Octowasher carrying a crate on the rail which has to be jumped over. Quickly thereafter there is another Octowasher on the rail which has to be jumped over, followed by another one on the rail carrying two crates which has to be jumped over too. Breaking the three crates makes another ride rail appear to the left.

Ride rail 6

Jump onto the next ride rail to the left which goes in the opposite direction than before. Two Squid Rings have appeared. The ride rail eventually makes a turn to the right followed by passing two columns, one on both the right and left sides, having each three Power Eggs floating above them. It approaches an Octowasher on the rail carrying three crates which has to be jumped over. Breaking the three crates makes a Squid Ring appear and another ride rail appear below.

Ride rail 7

Jump onto the next ride rail below and ready to press ZL to change to octopus form to go through a grated wall. The ride rail makes a turn to the right, quickly followed by two sets of Octowashers carrying crates moving back and forth on a track, crossing the rail. Quickly thereafter there is an Octowasher carrying a bigger crate which has to be jumped over. Breaking the three crates makes another ride rail appear to the left.

Ride rail 8

Jump onto the next ride rail to the left which approaches a Squid Ring and an Octowasher that moves faster back and forth on a track that crosses the ride rail. Above it is floating three Power Eggs. Jump over it and follow the rail that makes a turn to the left. There is an Octowasher carrying a bigger crate inside the turn to the left. Press ZL to go through another grated wall on the rail. The ride rail makes a turn to the left with an Octowasher carrying a crate to the right followed by an Octowasher on the rail carrying three crates which has to be jumped over. It is followed by an Octowasher carrying a crate to the left and immediately by another grated wall with a Squid Ring above it; jump over it or press ZL. After the wall, there is an Octowasher carrying two crates to the left, followed by the end of the rail with an Octowasher under three Power Eggs. Breaking the eight crates makes the final ride rail appear to the left.

Final ride rail

Jump onto the next ride rail to the left which leads to an Octowasher carrying five crates. Breaking those crates immediately passes the test.

Tips

  • When the player approaches an Octowasher, it is easier to jump in Octoling form instead of in octopus form.

Translation notes

  1. A pun on "Ringo daietto" (apple diet). It was very popular in nineties Japan.
  2. From "tussen de regels door lezen", a Dutch expression meaning "to understand the deeper meaning of a text", and "surfen" (to surf).
  3. Comes from "boven de wet staan", a Dutch expression meaning "to not be bound to the law". "Regels", in the subtitle, also means "rules", connecting the title and subtitle if translated like "surfing between the rules".
