Huh. There are Rolonium bundles here.

Rolonium is a mechanic in Octo Canyon, the Octo Expansion, and a Shifty Station in Splatoon 2. It is used by Octohurlers, Agent 4, and Agent 8.

Description

Rolonium resembles five inflatable tubes held together in a bundle. In single-player modes, they are tinted with the color of enemy Octarian ink, while in multiplayer, they are the neutral color of the current battle.

Use

Octohurlers spit out Rolonium bundles, which can be deflected by shooting at them. Rolonium can be aimed high or low and launched at different angles, depending on the direction that it is shot at. They are also found on the ground and can be used to splat any enemies in their path, but can only be used once. However, in some places, there are Rolonium generators which refill once the player uses them, so the player can use the Rolonium as many times as they want.

Trivia

  • As is seen in The Chronicles of Rolonium, the ink path created by Rolonium does not count for the player's point total during a Turf War match, but the burst of ink it creates once it hits a wall does. However, turf inked by Rolonium does not count towards the player's special gauge under any circumstance.
  • Rolonium cannot be used against the Octo Shower when the player uses the Hero Charger or Hero Splatling.
  • During the Villi Phase in the Octo Expansion, Pearl mishears the name of Rolonium as "baloney-yum".

Etymology

Rolonium may be a portmanteau of "polonium", an element, and "roll".
