As the beginner weapon, the Splattershot Jr. appropriately has a quick firing rate, a high ink efficiency, and high shot spread, which enables its user to quickly ink large territories. Its loadout always includes both an offensive option and a strong defensive option. Since Version S2 of Splatoon 2, it is also the first weapon to feature a unique ink tank.

The Splattershot Jr. is a blocky squirt gun, the main part of which changes color to match the user's ink. The gun has a large rectangular prism for a body, with another rectangular prism, this one much smaller, extending down to serve as a handhold. The inside angle between the two prisms houses a purple trigger. On the end of the main prism facing away from the user is a stocky, square-shaped funnel with a short purple nozzle on the end, and on top of it is a purple cap connected to the body by two small trapezoidal prisms. Inside the gun, there is a dip tube that connects the bottom of the trigger handhold to the nozzle. The Splattershot Jr.'s body is translucent in S and S3, while it is opaque in S2. In the first game only, the Splattershot Jr. is mottled gray around the edges.

In Splatoon 2, the Splattershot Jr. and its variants also replace the user's standard ink tank with one resembling baby bottles. It has a rounded rectangular shape and a round cap. For the Splattershot Jr., a yellow tag bearing the "Jr. Mark" symbol seen on the Basic Tee is attached around the bottle's neck.

Description
Version history
The Splattershot Jr. is ideal for covering large territories with ink quickly; its low accuracy provides a wider spread of ink while moving, and its low damage means it uses less ink per shot, allowing for more shots per tank of ink. It is in a set with the Splat Bomb and Bubbler, which help counter the low damage output by adding a good offensive option and a strong defensive one, respectively. Add to that the Bubbler's ability to shield nearby teammates as well, and the Splattershot Jr. is an ideal support weapon. {{Quote|Everyone's got to start somewhere. {{Quote|The Splattershot Jr. excels at turf coverage, making it an apt choice for Turf Wars. The Splattershot Jr. returns once again as the starting weapon, looking identical to how it did in the first game. It comes with Splat Bombs and Ink Armor. As of Version S2, the Splattershot Jr. and its variants, the Custom Splattershot Jr. and Kensa Splattershot Jr., now have a larger ink tank with 10% more capacity, making it an easier weapon for beginners and experts alike. It should be noted that the Splattershot Jr. does not gain more ink tank capacity in Salmon Run.

For other types of Splattershot Jr., see Splattershot Jr. (disambiguation).

The Splattershot Jr. is a main weapon in the Splatoon series, coming from the weapon brand Splat. It is the first weapon used by all players, given at the start of the in-game tutorial.

As the beginner weapon, the Splattershot Jr. appropriately has a quick firing rate, a high ink efficiency, and high shot spread, which enables its user to quickly ink large territories. Its loadout always includes both an offensive option and a strong defensive option. Since Version 3.2.0 of Splatoon 2, it is also the first weapon to feature a unique ink tank.

Appearance

The Splattershot Jr.'s body is translucent in Splatoon and Splatoon 3, while it is opaque in Splatoon 2.

The Splattershot Jr. comes in a set with Splat Bombs and the Bubbler.

Data

• The Splattershot Jr. is a middleweight weapon.
• Each shot consumes 0.5% of the ink tank capacity.
• This allows players to fire 200 shots before needing to refill the ink supply.
• This stat can be changed with Ink Saver (Main).
• When firing continuously, it shoots a bullet every 5 frames (12 shots per second).
• When firing while moving, the player's movement speed is set to 0.72 units per frame.
• After firing, there is a 20 frame cooldown before the ink tank starts refilling.
• Each shot has a base damage of 28.
• Shots travel straight for 3 frames. After that, they may lose damage. A shot will lose damage until it reaches 14 damage at frame 15.
• Shots have a radius of 2 units.
• The angle its shots can deviate while on the ground is 12 degrees.
• The angle its shots can deviate while in the air is 18 degrees.
• The outer reticle immediately expands after jumping. The outer reticle will finish shrinking after 60 frames.
• The chance to shoot towards the outer reticle instead of the inner reticle increases by 10% per shot, and maximizes at a 40% chance to shoot towards the outer reticle.
• This means that it takes 4 shots to reach minimum accuracy.
• When jumping, the chance to shoot towards the outer reticle instead of the inner reticle is immediately set to 40%.
• Accuracy starts recovering 5 frames after the player stops shooting.
• Shots initially travel straight at a rate of 22 units per frame for 3 frames. Shots travel straight for 66 distance units.
• Ink droplets occur every 80 units.
• The frequency at which ink drips from a shot occurs at a rate of 1.5 droplets per shot.
• There are a total of 7 different droplet patterns that can be created while firing this weapon.
• Droplets that occur within 11 units of the player have a radius of 21 units.
• Droplets that occur when they travel past 200 units of the player have a radius of 18.5 units.
• All other ink droplets have a radius of 13.2 units.

Quotes

Everyone's got to start somewhere. Good rate of fire and efficient ink use to boot. Not the most accurate of weapons, but it sprays ink so wildly you're bound to hit something!
— In-Game Description
This here is the Splattershot Jr. It's the first weapon new arrivals to Inkopolis get their hands on when getting their feet wet in Turf War. While not the greatest in terms of range or power, this bad boy has excellent rate of fire and solid ink efficiency. As the "Jr." indicates, it's a well-rounded weapon that's just perfect for noobs.

The Splattershot Jr. returns once again as the starting weapon, looking identical to how it did in the first game. It comes with Splat Bombs and Ink Armor. As of Version 3.2.0, the Splattershot Jr. and its variants, the Custom Splattershot Jr. and Kensa Splattershot Jr., now have a larger ink tank with 10% more capacity, making it an easier weapon for beginners and experts alike. It should be noted that the Splattershot Jr. does not gain more ink tank capacity in Salmon Run.

It appears in three Octo Expansion stations:

Data

• The Splattershot Jr. is a lightweight weapon.
• The matchmaking range is 110. The game's matchmaking system looks at a team's average matchmaking range value, and matches them against a team with a similar average.
• The ink consumption of 0.43% and ink tank capacity of 110% allows players to fire 255 shots before needing to refill the ink supply.
• When initially firing the weapon in humanoid form, the first shot takes 3 frames to come out.
• When firing from swim form, the first shot takes 10 frames to come out.
• The interval between firing and when the player is able to enter swim form or use a sub weapon is 2 frames.
• When firing continuously, it shoots a bullet every 5 frames (12 shots per second).
• When firing while moving, the player's movement speed is set to 0.72 units per frame.
• After firing, there is a 15 frame cooldown before the ink tank starts refilling.
• Each shot has a base damage of 28.
• If a shot is in the air for more than 8 frames after being fired, it loses 0.875 damage per frame until it reaches 14 damage at frame 24.
• The bullet hitbox has a radius of 2 units.
• The angle its shots can deviate while on the ground is 12 degrees.
• The angle its shots can deviate while in the air is 15 degrees.
• The outer reticle immediately expands after jumping. After 25 frames, the outer reticle will start shrinking, and will finish shrinking after 70 frames.
• The Splattershot Jr. starts off having a 4% chance to shoot towards the outer reticle instead of the inner reticle.
• This chance increases by 2% per shot, and maximizes at a 40% chance to shoot towards the outer reticle, meaning that it takes 18 shots to reach minimum accuracy.
• When jumping, the chance to shoot towards the outer reticle instead of the inner reticle is immediately set to 40%.
• Accuracy starts recovering 5 frames after the player stops shooting. The chance to shoot towards the outer reticle decreases by 1% per frame, if the chance is not already at the minimum, meaning that it takes 41 frames to reach maximum accuracy.
• Shots initially travel straight at a rate of 22 units per frame for 3 frames. Shots travel straight for 66 distance units.
• After that, the shot's velocity is set to 18.945 units per frame if it is not already lower than the listed value, and decreases further as it travels.
• Ink droplets occur every 95 units.
• The frequency at which ink drips from a shot occurs at a rate of 1.4 droplets per shot.
• There are a total of 7 different droplet patterns that can be created while firing this weapon.
• Droplets that occur within 11 units of the player have a radius of 19.7 units, and a width of 12 units.
• These droplets have their radius multiplied by a value ranging from 1.2 if they fell from a height above 100 units to 1.4 if they fell from a height below 30 units.
• Droplets that occur when they travel past 200 units of the player have a radius of 16.5 units.
• All other ink droplets have a radius of 12.9 units.
• Droplets that are far from the player and all other droplets have their radius multiplied by a value ranging from 1 if they fell from a height above 100 units to 1.2 if they fell from a height below 30 units.
• If no ink droplets have occurred within 11 units of the player for 3 shots, the next shot the player makes will force a paint droplet to appear at the player's feet.

The Splattershot Jr. returns in Splatoon 3. Its kit consists of Splat Bomb and Big Bubbler. The Splattershot Jr. retains its 110% capacity ink tank,[4] which it first received in Splatoon 2 version 3.2.0. The ink tank is not visually larger than other ink tanks as it was in Splatoon 2, but the red line is lower, indicating that the Splat Bomb uses a smaller proportion of the capacity compared to a normal-sized ink tank.

It appears in only 1 mission in Alterna:

Data

• The Splattershot Jr. is a lightweight weapon.
• The matchmaking range is 11. The game's matchmaking system looks at a team's average matchmaking range value, and matches them against a team with a similar average.
• The ink consumption is 0.43% per shot, allowing the user to fire for 19.38 seconds on a full ink tank.
• When firing continuously, it shoots a bullet every 5 frames (12 shots per second).
• When firing from humanoid form, the first shot takes 3 frames to come out. When firing from swim form, the first shot takes 10 frames to come out.
• The interval between firing the weapon and being able to enter swim form or use a sub weapon is 2 frames.
• When firing while moving, the player's movement speed is set to 0.076 units per frame.
• After firing, there is a 15 frame cooldown before the ink tank starts refilling.
• Each shot has a base damage of 28 and minimum damage of 14.
• If a shot is in the air for more than 8 frames after being fired, it will lose about 0.88 damage per frame until it reaches 14 damage at frame 24.
• The bullet hitbox for collisions with players has a radius of 0.2 units.
• The bullet hitbox for collisions with the environment has a radius of 0.2 units.
• Shots initially travel straight at a rate of 2.2 units per frame for 3 frames. Shots travel straight for 6.6 distance units.
• After that, the shot's velocity is set to 1.8945 units per frame if it is not already lower than the listed value, and it loses 36% of its speed every frame (including the first frame after it stops traveling straight). Once the shot velocity decreases below a certain threshold, it will begin to be slowed less and fall faster.
• The effective range is about 9.61 units.
• This number may vary at different firing angles.

Far from a child's toy, this shooter rations ink like my grandparents ration stale candies! In other words, it may not be the strongest or most accurate weapon, but you can mash that like you're mashing potatoes. Huh. I must be hungry.
