Talk:Gear ability

From Inkipedia, the Splatoon wiki

Should each gear ability have its own page?

The description for each ability buff is getting increasingly complex, and the gear column will also get excessively full when completed. I think that the gear buff description should be very brief here and then a detailed description should be made on the ability's main article page. Additionally, I feel that the information in the gear column would be best on displayed in a separate table on the ability's main article page along with additional info on the gear like brand, cost, where to obtain the gear, and a picture of the gear. Thoughts? --sunmarsh (talk) 23:00, 7 June 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Sounds reasonable to me on both. I think we were initially concerned that abilities would just be a load of stub articles with little content available. But if we include all the gear that gives this ability then I see that these pages would expand by a fair amount. - Kjhf (Talk | Contribs) 23:13, 7 June 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Let's totally break them out. Having a list of gear for an ability is nice, and this list of abilities with icons (and briefer descriptions) would remain nice. --Tyroney (talk)
aaaand it's done. --Tyroney (talk)

Abilities stacking

If you have 1-3 mains, will that effect the subs... or will the subs start from full? Will subs between gears affect each other? Will each addition count from the base value, or with the new value (including previous abilities)?

If you stack main abilities, there are diminishing returns. I think (but I'm not totally positive) that all abilities work like this: if you have two of the same main abilities, one of them will be half as powerful as the other. If you stack three, two of them will be half as powerful as the first. Of course, these numbers vary from ability to ability, but you get the jist. Also, one sub ability is one third as powerful as a main ability, and I don't believe that there are diminishing returns for them. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I was asking myself these same questions today, Liggliluff. This series of videos doesn't exactly answer your questions, but you may find it helpful as it provides some ideas on how one might test these ideas objectively. Also be sure to check the comment section as many people are asking similar questions. Lastly, IanMS00, for the Quick Respawn ability at least, the second main ability is about 20% less powerful than the first, and the second is about 40% less powerful than the first. These percentages may vary based on the main/sub ability in question. --sunmarsh (talk) 01:29, 25 July 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Does anyone know why this page is locked? Many things on this page are totally wrong.

Why is the page locked?

Altenately, can someone with editing power fix the mistakes?

It's semi-protected due to high traffic. What's wrong on the page? Heddy (talk) 21:50, 22 April 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
