English Name

Isn't this stage called "Shifty Station" in English? I saw the term used a lot but I'm not sure it's official. I think it was discovered in Splatnet 2 when it was datamined, though. Any sources? DJ Coco (talk) 17:56, 31 July 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

None that can be verified yet. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Splatzoner (talkcontribs)
So there's no official English name then? --Raltseye prata med mej 18:17, 31 July 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Well, it's just been confirmed as Shifty Station on Squid Research Lab. So now it is official.--Splatzoner (talk) 06:22, 1 August 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Layout 14 Map

Yikes! Did no one get a chance to get the map for Layout 14? I didn't really get a chance myself, I barely had time for my streams and Jellyfish pix as it was. O.o -DJParticle (talk) 10:35, 25 September 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

If nobody has taken a picture, then I know that this Japanese wiki page has one here if it's alright.--Hinamin (talk) 12:24, 25 September 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I actually got images of both the in-game minimap and also a screenshot of the whole map from the top-down perspective you can see at the end; I'll upload at least the minimap soon, since that's clean; the other isn't. --Zorg (talk) 14:55, 25 September 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The layouts are getting real names. Page split?

The SplatoonJP Twitter account provided names for the Shifty Station layouts. When we get the English-localized names (in a game update or from an English social media account), I think a page split would be appropriate. Considering that they really are different stages, just sharing an aesthetic. Heddy (talk) 02:11, 20 June 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

You know what? This is actually a good idea. I could put in the translated names just while we get the official names

A page split sounds good to me! 〜SplatterskytalkOE Icon Pearl.png
I think that would be great!~ SundaeSquidS Weapon Main Octobrush.pngTalk 08:04, 20 June 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The English localizations are starting to trickle out : https://twitter.com/NintendoVS/status/1142145814917107712Kratosauron0 (talk) 19:25, 21 June 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I can agree to the page split, on the grounds that I get to make the page for Wayslide Cool. I'm... mostly joking, but this is pretty much a crossover of my two biggest special interests and I am freaking out right now. ShinyCelesteela (talk) 19:38, 21 June 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Zone of Glass name

Considering that most of the of the parody names comes from a novel series, wouldn't Zone of Glass's name be "Throne of Glass" instead of "Heart of Glass?" In addition, it rhymes. Batsmarow (talk) 21:00, 21 June 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Yeah, that seems a bit more likely. Some of these are a bit less obvious than others. ShinyCelesteela (talk) 21:11, 21 June 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Individual Page Naming

Since we're doing seperate pages for each Shifty Station now, should we do something like "Shifty Station: (name)" so people don't get confused? Otherwise, a lot of people might not recognise it. 〜SplatterskytalkOE Icon Pearl.png

Sounds like a great idea! --SundaeSquidS Weapon Main Octobrush.pngTalk 23:06, 21 June 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
How exactly would people be confused by the in-game name for these stages matching the on-wiki name? Explain. Heddy (talk) 23:10, 21 June 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
In addition I would like to say that it's the first sentence's job to give the reader context. It's not the title's job to give the reader context. Heddy (talk) 23:11, 21 June 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Like I said, if it's just the name (e.g. "Wayslide Cool"), people who don't follow SplatoonUS tumblr would likely not recognise it and get confused, especially since the names were released so recently. I'm suggesting that we put "Shifty Station:" before the names so people understand it's a version of shifty station. I understand it's the first sentence's job to explain things, but I still think this would be helpful. 〜SplatterskytalkOE Icon Pearl.png
We'll still keep the main Shifty Station page, which will likely link to pages on all the variations. Maybe the main Shifty Station page would also give brief descriptions of all of them, so as not to confuse readers! That being said, I feel the names will be used in-game, to make it easier to select them in Private Battles. Heck, they might even be used during the Chaos vs. Order Splatfest, since they'll be in rotation two at a time. ShinyCelesteela (talk) 23:24, 21 June 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
To me this sounds equivalent to naming an Octo Canyon stage article "Octo Canyon: Stage Name"; it's just inconsistent with the rest of the wiki, and seems to tarnish the purity of every part of a page having its purpose. People don't just randomly end up on a page they don't recognize (unless they click the random button)... they'd be following a link that would have given them context about where they're going. This suggestion would make sense to me if the stages had that prefix in-game. If someone is truly confused about the title they are looking at, perhaps they should read the article to obtain the knowledge they crave! Heddy (talk) 23:42, 21 June 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Alright, you make a point. It was just a suggestion >.> 〜SplatterskytalkOE Icon Pearl.png

Restructuring

Alright, I have finished creating the pages for the twenty-four different layouts. Now I'm curious, how should we restructure this page? We can probably eliminate all the different sections for the layouts, since pretty much all the necessary information is on the new pages, and heck, we could probably eliminate the official naming section as well, since the "Etymology" section covers all of that. I think maybe we could expand the list of layouts, though, make it something like the Stage page where it has a table that gives a brief description of each layout, and maybe which Splatfests they appeared in? ShinyCelesteela (talk) 15:08, 22 June 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

First of all, a massive thank you for making all those pages! That's really gonna help in the future and has certainly made my life easier! I'm with you, I presume the vast majority of the information on the page can be deleted now that it's been relocated to their respective pages. We could just leave this page as an overview that provides a list with links, basic info of each, and general facts and info related to all Shifty Stations as a whole. Seems easiest and avoids repetition. Thanks again! GloverMist (talk) 15:23, 22 June 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Codenames

I know this would require yet more work to each of the new stage pages, so we don't have to do this, but is the large table listing all the Shifty Stations' codenames in the Trivia section really necessary now each one has its own page? I thought each codename and its reasoning could be added to its respective stage's page, possibly its own Trivia section, to be more in fitting with the purpose of this page now. We don't have to, so let me know if there's a reason it's being kept here! GloverMist (talk) 20:16, 22 June 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The main reason it's still here is because I didn't have that information on the main pages yet, but that's a pretty good idea! Don't remove the table until I've added all the codenames, of course, but it shouldn't take too long. Thanks for the heads-up! ShinyCelesteela (talk) 20:36, 22 June 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Well, of course, I meant to remove it after the information was transferred across, if you wanted to transfer it at all. Glad you think it's a good idea! GloverMist (talk) 20:43, 22 June 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

25th Shifty Station?

I know the Mushroom Vs. Star Fest is over, but I really was expecting some 25th Station. I don't know what they would add, (something like Balloon Fish? Or the NILS itself?). I don't think anything else is going to be announced, since Splatoon 3 was announced. But I guess MC Princess Dairies was a nice one to finish it off.
