family vs series

I used the word "Family" to describe the groups of shooters rather than "Series". This is because a lot of the guns in those groups are similar in stats, names, and appearance, but are not all exact copies of one another. However, I didn't feel this applied to the Blasters, as they are all clearly different guns, each with their own brands. I used this same logic to add the pictures in the Gallery (with the exception of the Hero Shot Replica). If you think it should be changed, go right ahead. Move Blasters to their own page?

Since Splatoon 2, it appears that Blasters are now considered a true weapon class instead of being a simple sub-class. Perhaps a Blasters page should be made to reflect this? --15:18, 1 August 2017 (UTC)

Your suggestion has been made a reality! Here is the link: Blaster (weapon class)DaDoc540 (talk) 04:07, 4 June 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

  • Trust me, I tried not long ago. The higher ups agreed that Blasters should remain as a sub-category as Shooters. The way the game organizes weapons in testing supports this. Blasters are still lumped together with other Shooters, between the traditional style and the trigger style. Unfortunately I have to revoke the changes. Is there any evidence that Nintendo considers blasters a separate weapon class? If so, does it outweigh the evidence that Nintendo considers blasters to belong to the shooter class? It would be nice to have them as separate classes for more refined organization on the wiki, but we shouldn't do so unless they are actually separate classes. While Blasters are still a "sub-class" (using S2 as reference) and treated as such on the Weapon page we could still consider giving Blasters their own page. However, this means we would have to give the same treatment to Burst-fire and Brushes. But my proposal is to wait until the Splatoon 3 Splatfest World Premiere or Splatoon 3's launch since if the game sorts the weapons into their own category instead of Shooters further talk would be unnecessary and we would create respective pages anyway. If they won't be seperated in-game we could pick up the discussion again.   Perfectionist   (talk) 07:43, 22 August 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Blasters in Organization in Sets Dropdown for S1 and S2

Blasters have their own Set dropdown for the Splatoon 1 and 2 set dropdown. Yet the Blasters are still a part of the Shooter Set dropdown for Splatoon 1 and 2. Shouldn't Blasters be removed from said Set dropdown for said reason?

This same logic applies to Rollers/Brushes as well. HalloweenPeachy (talk) 20:26, 22 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
