Not so Spooky

I love a good ghost story as much as the next person, but after revisiting this level I am 100% certain that the creepy sounds that are heard in this level are nothing more than the sound of rusty metal and other noises of decay and disrepair. Bluefin Depot and the surrounding area seem to have been somewhat abandoned and are falling into disrepair. It is not hard to let one's imagination get the better of them and I will admit that I too was startled by the some of the sounds.

Explanation:

  • The noises that are heard are located near the UFO and near the iron bridge are easy to explain as being the sound metal makes when it becomes rusty or starts to rub against other pieces of metal. Also factor in thermal expansion and the salinity of the nearby ocean/sea and we have the perfect conditions to speed up the decay of the entire depot.
  • The moan that is also heard can also be explained as simply the bridge beginning to buckle under its own weight. This claim is also supported by some of the Squid Sisters quotes:

Callie: It looks like it could collapse at any moment...

Marie: I wonder if anyone is keeping it maintained?

  • The glowing orbs can easily be explained as either being caused by the lights of the boats reflecting off of the water or as the bioluminescent glow of the jellyfish that occasionally hang around here.

Who thinks Bluefin Depot is spooky? Mr Squid (talk) 06:10, 29 February 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Check the trivia section of Bluefin Depot, the trivia section of this level and several urban legend sites .--Snowwarrior92 06:26, 29 February 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Yeah I can see that, but those sounds are only ever heard at night. Recon during the day will be almost silent, but this mission and Recon during a Splatfest will have the weird sounds. Your explanation does make sense, but the fact that it only happens at night is a bit weird. --Bzeep! talk 22:33, 1 March 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Well simply the sounds are heard at night when its most likely to be colder than the day. During the day the metals that make up the bridge expand because of the heat, while at night the metals of the bridge shrink due to the cold. The expanding and shrinking could likely cause the sounds that are exclusively heard at night.--Snowwarrior92 22:39, 1 March 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]
