The Blasters and Brushes are separate main weapon types that different from Shooters and Rollers now, since they are different hero weapons in Splatoon 2, they also count as different weapon types on Splatfests. == Table Issues ==
The Bloblobber, Explosher, Ballpoint Splatling, and Nautilus 47 all have issues on the table where there's a blank slot for a second weapon variation that doesn't exist, which honestly looks pretty ugly. Oddly enough, the Grizzco weapons don't share this issue. I'd fix them myself, but I'm not sure how to edit the weapon tables themselves. Can someone help me out? I decided to take the weapons and all their stats together, and make one huge table. I also including some charts, as well as some other tables at the side just for the heck of it.

It's just something for me to use up some time, and is likely not entirely useful, instead being rather redundant. It's just that I decided to share it now.

Weapon table, game column checklist
I noticed that the checklists have X added to them now, which seems unnecessary, because checklists only need checks. And the way new weapons are added post-release would just make an explicit X incorrect, whereas an empty box would ensure that the page is not making explicit claims that are later wrong... it would just be a box in a checklist to check when it comes out. Similar to a personal checklist of gear that you check when you obtain the gear!

I think the table should be reverted to a checklist, where we check weapons as they come out, as it has always been. Using X's just seems wrong, unnecessary, and less clean. Heddy (talk) 03:34, 24 March 2021 (UTC)

I agree. And to add on to what Heddy was saying, what if, let's say, the krak-on splat roller isn't in splatoon 3 a little after launch, and we mark it down as an x, but then it gets announced in a later update to return. The x is then incorrect, and it's an unnecessary edit. The x's to me seem unnecessary, and I 100% agree that a checklist shouldn't need x's when it's a check list. 11:17, 24 March 2021 (UTC)

: What about the games that are very unlikely to have a major update anytime soon? For example, Splatoon 2 doesn't seem like it's going to have a returning weapon from Splatoon because Nintendo is probably focusing their work on Splatoon 3 and other games instead of Splatoon 2. Should we add "X" marks for just Splatoon though? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dedf1sh07 (talk • contribs)
:: I just don't see why X's should be added in the first place. The same information is being communicated without adding a negative symbol. Heddy (talk) 15:20, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
:::IMO I think X's would be good for weapons that never made it into Splatoon 1 and 2. Splatoon 3 doesn't need X's until the game finishes content updates. The Timer symbol would honestly be better for this category and it should only be added for weapons that have 1 variant in-game (such as the Gold Dynamo showing up in the trailer but not the Vanilla one). If a weapon hasn't been revealed to be in the game and also doesn't have a variant in-game, you should leave it blank or add a question mark category. Timewip2020 (talk) 16:54, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
::::I prefer simplicity and minimalism. We don't need timer symbols or X's or question marks, just a simple check for confirmed weapons is all that is needed to communicate the information to the reader. Heddy (talk) 23:34, 26 March 2021 (UTC)

Blasters and Brushes
In Splatoon 3, blasters and brushes are separate weapon classes, rather than being grouped with shooters and rollers respectively. Can someone who is more knowledgeable in Wikipedia lists move blasters and brushes from the shooters and rollers lists into their own lists? Thanks in advance. Colorized (talk) 07:01, 17 August 2022 (UTC)
: This topic has been discussed multiple times and we came to the conclusion to wait until Splatoon 3's launch. In-game the Blasters are sortet between Shooters and Burst-Fire weapons which is reflectet on the Weapon Page. If Splatoon 3 sorts Blasters and Brushes seperately from Shooters and Rollers this Page will be updated accordingly to match the in-game sorting. 07:30, 17 August 2022 (UTC)
::In the World Premiere, blasters and brushes appear as options when searching for weapons in the gear select screen. Is that enough to change it? Besnhasthefun (talk) 22:36, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
:::I think this is enough to change it as well. Are the changes approved? Colorized (talk) 23:55, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
::::While the ingame sorting is not the final deciding factor, it has encouraged improving and creating drafts for a standalone page for blasters and brushes. From these pages the tables will later be taken. The final deciding factor will be the sorting of weapons in Ammo Knights, as the sorting there is the reason for the current sorting of weapons on the page, but there is a lot in favor for the separate sections on the page so you might soon see seperate sections. 22:37, 30 August 2022 (UTC)

Dual squelcher
Weapons that we have absolutely confirmed are not in a game have a light blue box in that game's column, and it says that dual squelcher is not going to be in splatoon 3. Has this absolutely 100% for sure explicitly confirmed this with an official statement? == Characteristics of weapons ==

Should we add a column that has a basic summary of the weapon's characteristics? Adalent (talk) 23:07, 1 January 2023 (UTC)

:The page is protected to autoconfirmed only, so once you have a few edits and days under your belt then you'll be able to change that! You raise a good point, the table should be sortable. Personally, I detest the way Nintendo have ordered it in-game and alphabetical order is much more navigable. I will edit it to be sortable both ways. 00:06, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
::Done. 02:01, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
:This page actually pulls its content from a non-locked page that you can edit: special weapon. Many specials aren't in all 3 games, so there is probably no single correct "in game order", though maybe internal IDs or sorting by game could clear that up. Alphabetical order is more accessible in general, so alphabetical sorting should definitely be an option. Heddy (talk) 00:13, 2 January 2023 (UTC)

Consistency
I've noticed a lack of consistency between the weapon descriptions for the standard weapons. Some use "A standard...", some use "The standard...", and the dualie class uses "The first obtainable dualie..." for the splat dualies. Additionally, I believe that the standard splatana would either be the stamper or none, as they didn't appear in the S2 story mode, and the only information we have to go off of are the trailers and the most recent leak revealing a new heavy splatana which would make the splatana stamper the standard one. These 2 topics are open to discussion and once we settle on something we can standardise the tables. Hotttpancakes (talk) 18:57, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

:Complete consistency in style is difficult to achieve when we have so many different editors all working independently, but you're welcome to make edits to reword things if you think a particular style is best!
:Regarding the other point: we've discussed this topic in the Inkipedia Discord for a different reason, and the conclusion we ended up coming to was that the only acceptable objective means to determine the "archetypal" weapons for each weapon class was using the ones that signify the classes in in-game menus (e.g. archetypal brush is Inkbrush, archetypal splatana is Wiper, and so on). Basing it on "weight class" so to speak would be fine if we didn't have a more objective and official standard, but we do (and we also can't make any wiki-related conclusions based on leaked content anyway).
Driftin Soul (talk) 19:12, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

Table Issues

The Bloblobber, Explosher, Ballpoint Splatling, and Nautilus 47 all have issues on the table where there's a blank slot for a second weapon variation that doesn't exist, which honestly looks pretty ugly. Oddly enough, the Grizzco weapons don't share this issue. I'd fix them myself, but I'm not sure how to edit the weapon tables themselves. Can someone help me out? Alicia Jewel (talk) 16:38, 13 August 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I believe those empty cells were there because of the possibility that a variant will exist in the future. I fixed the issues by hiding those empty cells. Heddy (talk) 21:43, 13 August 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Huge, Overdone Spreadsheet of Mine

I decided to take the weapons and all their stats together, and make one huge table. I also including some charts, as well as some other tables at the side just for the heck of it.

It's just something for me to use up some time, and is likely not entirely useful, instead being rather redundant. It's just that I decided to share it now.

Splatfest Weapon Names

The splatfests for S2 are over, but we all remember the synergy bonuses, right? If everyone on a team had the same main, sub, or special weapon, it would show it in the "team name," but the category was not always the actual name of the weapon!

Heddy (talk) 03:34, 24 March 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

WoomyMcBoomyWoomy.png 11:17, 24 March 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

What about the games that are very unlikely to have a major update anytime soon? For example, Splatoon 2 doesn't seem like it's going to have a returning weapon from Splatoon because Nintendo is probably focusing their work on Splatoon 3 and other games instead of Splatoon 2. Should we add "X" marks for just Splatoon though? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dedf1sh07 (talkcontribs)
I just don't see why X's should be added in the first place. The same information is being communicated without adding a negative symbol. Heddy (talk) 15:20, 26 March 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
IMO I think X's would be good for weapons that never made it into Splatoon 1 and 2. Timewip2020 (talk) 16:54, 26 March 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I prefer simplicity and minimalism. We don't need timer symbols or X's or question marks, just a simple check for confirmed weapons is all that is needed to communicate the information to the reader. Heddy (talk) 23:34, 26 March 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Colorized (talk) 07:01, 17 August 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

This topic has been discussed multiple times and we came to the conclusion to wait until Splatoon 3's launch. In-game the Blasters are sortet between Shooters and Burst-Fire weapons which is reflectet on the Weapon Page. If Splatoon 3 sorts Blasters and Brushes seperately from Shooters and Rollers this Page will be updated accordingly to match the in-game sorting. Perfectionist (talk) 07:30, 17 August 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
In the World Premiere, blasters and brushes appear as options when searching for weapons in the gear select screen. Is that enough to change it? Besnhasthefun (talk) 22:36, 24 August 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I think this is enough to change it as well. Are the changes approved? Colorized (talk) 23:55, 24 August 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
While the ingame sorting is not the final deciding factor, it has encouraged improving and creating drafts for a standalone page for blasters and brushes. From these pages the tables will later be taken. The final deciding factor will be the sorting of weapons in Ammo Knights, as the sorting there is the reason for the current sorting of weapons on the page, but there is a lot in favor for the separate sections on the page so you might soon see seperate sections. Perfectionist (talk) 22:37, 30 August 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Dual squelcher

Weapons that we have absolutely confirmed are not in a game have a light blue box in that game's column, and it says that dual squelcher is not going to be in splatoon 3. Has this absolutely 100% for sure explicitly confirmed this with an official statement? If not we should not mark it as "not going to be in splatoon 3" as we are not entirely sure that it is not going to be in splatoon 3. Cruelty to Salmons (talk) 19:04, 10 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Characteristics of weapons

Should we add a column that has a basic summary of the weapon's characteristics? For example the hydra splatling would be something like "has the longest range, longest charge time, and lowest mobility of all splatlings." I think this would make it quicker to learn about the weapons without having to go back and forth between hundreds of pages. Cruelty to Salmons (talk) 14:30, 24 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Vanilla (Standard, Regular) Dynamo is silver colored, gold is gold. Xan S3 Badge Toni Kensa 100.png 15:12, 15 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hmm but it could have been a situation like "the gold color on the dynamo is more iconic, it should be the vanilla dynamo and the silver one should be a variant" but then they changed their mind after promos and shops were made, also it hasn't been officially actually explicitly confirmed that it will return so we should maintain 100% skepticism Cruelty to Salmons (talk) 17:47, 28 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Well in cooler heads in splatoon 1 there is an unused piece of gear hiding behind the UI display, so it could be a case of included in the shops but never used in-game. Of course it is unlikely that it would not be in the game but we should be very skeptical of anything that is not official. Cruelty to Salmons (talk) 17:54, 28 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The Specials Section

For the love of god who decided the list of specials should be in ALPHABETICAL ORDER??? I cant think of a single good reason it should've changed from the order they're listed in the game. I cant even fix it myself since its a protected page :'(

Adalent (talk) 23:07, 1 January 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The page is protected to autoconfirmed only, so once you have a few edits and days under your belt then you'll be able to change that! You raise a good point, the table should be sortable. Personally, I detest the way Nintendo have ordered it in-game and alphabetical order is much more navigable. I will edit it to be sortable both ways. Slate Talk Contribs 00:06, 2 January 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Done. Slate Talk Contribs 02:01, 2 January 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
This page actually pulls its content from a non-locked page that you can edit: special weapon. Many specials aren't in all 3 games, so there is probably no single correct "in game order", though maybe internal IDs or sorting by game could clear that up. Alphabetical order is more accessible in general, so alphabetical sorting should definitely be an option. Heddy (talk) 00:13, 2 January 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Ouch. Yes, I agree with you, whoever did that was in the wrong. I think that the order should be the order that they were introduced, from Splatoon to Splatoon 3. the octoling girl 13:20, 18 January 2023 (UTC)

They likely refer to File:Octolings in multiplayer promo.jpg and File:S2 Salmon Run 6.jpg at the start of the page. I agree that using an image of the recent installment is a good idea. However, I would actually get rid of the Salmon Run file, as I don't see the need of 2 thumb-images. Are you referring to this image? That promotional image was posted in a prerelease Tweet showcasing the Shooter weapons class. To my knowledge all similar class-showcasing Tweets only feature a single weapon per class. Yoshifan52 (talk) 01:23, 28 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yes, that's the image. Thank you! I'll take a look at Twitter Purely8339 (talk) 03:49, 28 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hotttpancakes (talk) 18:57, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Complete consistency in style is difficult to achieve when we have so many different editors all working independently, but you're welcome to make edits to reword things if you think a particular style is best!
Regarding the other point: we've discussed this topic in the Inkipedia Discord for a different reason, and the conclusion we ended up coming to was that the only acceptable objective means to determine the "archetypal" weapons for each weapon class was using the ones that signify the classes in in-game menus (e.g. archetypal brush is Inkbrush, archetypal splatana is Wiper, and so on). Basing it on "weight class" so to speak would be fine if we didn't have a more objective and official standard, but we do (and we also can't make any wiki-related conclusions based on leaked content anyway).
