Meet the Tempered Dynamo Roller. This heavy-weight roller gained mobility to quickly run up to the front lines by adding the Seeker as a sub weapon. The quiet but tasteful color tone might lull your opponents into a sense of security before BAM! Killer Wail! Pile on the pressure!

The Tempered Dynamo Roller is a Roller in Splatoon. It is one of eight weapons included in Sheldon's Picks Vol. 1 and was released at Template:UTC on April 13, 2016.[2][3]

Description

Like all rollers, the Dynamo Roller can cover turf while in motion and fling a large amount of ink at medium range, but high range for a roller. Compared to the Splat Roller, this roller is much slower but covers a larger area while rolling and throwing ink. It comes with Seeker as Sub Weapon and Killer Wail as Special Weapon.

Like the Dynamo Roller and Gold Dynamo Roller, the Tempered Dynamo Roller can only be unlocked for purchase after obtaining the Sunken Scroll from the fight with DJ Octavio in Octo Valley. It is one out two of Sheldon's Picks that must be unlocked via a scroll.

"This beauty is the Tempered Dynamo Roller. It simply oozes style! Check out the sweet burnt effect. The addition of Seekers has really improved this set's manoeuvrability and ability to pressure the front lines.

When you've got 'em on the back foot, BAM! killer Wail! This set suits battlers who like to pile on the pressure!

Recommended Abilities

Lua error in Module:Ability at line 29: attempt to concatenate local 'linkText' (a nil value).

Damage Up significantly increases the Dynamo's effective range to splat, preventing even more enemies from escaping and allowing for greater ease in splatting.

As the Dynamo Roller is one of few weapons to have its base swim speed reduced, Swim Speed Up serves to mitigate said reduction and enable the Dynamo Roller to have greater mobility in splatting and generally completing the objective.

The heavy ink consumption of the Tempered Dynamo Roller may also necessitate Ink Recovery Up, which increases the ink recovery rate in squid form, allowing the a player wielding the Tempered Dynamo Roller to spend less time recharging their ink tank, and allowing players to refill their ink tank whilst swimming behind the seeker

Getting stuck in ink is a death sentence for the Tempered Dynamo Roller, because of its slow flick speed. Ink Resistance Up will make the player less likely to get stuck in ink.

A surprise Tempered Dynamo Roller is devastating to the enemy team, especially on Tower Control. Equip Stealth Jump to jump to safely jump to a location that catches the enemy off guard.

This ability works best for the Dynamo Roller, serving every need a Dynamo Roller player could ask for. Swim Speed mitigates the swim speed reduction of the roller, Ink Saver Main allows players to gain one additional flick with the Dynamo, and Ink Recovery allows players to have greater map presence. This ability fares extremely well with the Dynamo. More frequent deaths are common with the Dynamo Roller with an aggressive playstyle, thus Haunt allows for regular tagging of opponents for the entire team.

At 20% ink consumption per flick, the Tempered Dynamo Roller is the most ink-hungry roller type. Ink Saver (Main) can be a valuable asset for suppressing the enemy with repeated flicks, by reducing the amount of ink used per flick. Just 1 main and 1 sub of this ability will afford the player a 6th full-powered flick.

Trivia

Name Origin

Tempered Dynamo Roller is derived from Dynamo and Roller, plus the word Tempered. Dynamo is a type of an electrical generator, which the Tempered Dynamo Roller seems partly based on. Tempered refers to Tempering, a process in metallurgy that is used to increase the toughness of iron-based alloys.

ダイナモローラーバーンド Dainamo Rōrā Bāndo means Dynamo Roller Burned. Burned refers to the fact that it is a Dynamo Roller that has been burnt to be tempered.
