Turfed Ink is a score on how much the players' Main Weapon has been placing ink in an online matchmaking mode match. Using Sub Weapons is part of the Main Weapon, increasing the score of ink covered. It doesn't necessarily have to count on Turf War, but it even adds up in Ranked Battles. If a team reaches the modes's score (one of the teams don't need to reach the score), it gives the winning team more points. Starting from 0p, and the max goes all the way to 999999p. When winning a Turf War match, it increases the player's score by +1000p, it's also added to the players Ink Turfed score of what main weapon they used. Shooting walls will not add up to the score. This type of score for the main weapon is not updated for other modes, such as Battle Dojo, Recon (mode), Salmon Run, or single-player modes.

In SplatNet 2, users can check their total Ink Turf score, as well as individual weapons. The total lifetime inked turf score has counts separately for Inklings and Octolings, but still shares the individual weapon scores.

It is possible to splash ink to nearby surfaces by jumping near the edge, while being in a puddle of ink in squid or octo form and will count as inked turf. If the player steps on uncovered floor after being in ink in either their or enemy color, small footprints in said color can be seen on the uncovered floor. However, this is only a temporary effect as ink left from the footprints do not count as placing ink, having the footprint disappear after a few seconds.

Matches

Regular Battle

Competing in Turf War with a main weapon players use will count after a match has ended. Players also gain cash and experience after a match, but with the 2.0.0 update, players under level 20 only gained experience with the amount of ink the user has turfed, this also goes with upgrading hats, clothing, and shoes. To gain experience when passed level 20, scoring 200p (All the way to 399p) will grant only 2 experience. Scoring 400p will grant players 3 experience. Winning the match will grant +2 experience, with +1000p.

Ranked Battle

Winning a Ranked Battle, players win about 500p, since the team has won, they receive a 3000p bonus totaling it to 3500p (The score Increases as the better rank players are). The score is also tracked to the mean weapon the players was using during the match. Losing players however, receive no points (0p).

If the match ends when no team has came to finishing the match, the points are shared, like how close the Tower made it nearly to the Hot Spot, The Rainmaker was close to making it to the required area, and how close players were to getting to 0 remains left on Splat Zones. Overtime extends the time limit to a Ranked Battle match, but it can end even if one of the teams fail to complete the required goal of the game mode.

If Overtime isn't triggered, the losing team will gain experience by only how long the match has gone for. It only increases Exp., and not the turfed ink for the main weapon used in the match.

Private Battle

In a Private Battle, ink placement is counted during the match, but doesn't add to any statistics outside of any match in this mode. Coins and experience are not gained.

If a Turf War Match is ended with no one placing ink, the Spawn Point still counts as ink placement, but was not performed by any Inklings. It may lead to a tie. If Judd selects the winning team, they'll be granted +300p. [1]

Tips

  • Splatting opposing players will increase the score of turfed ink as they explode into the allies ink color.

Notes

  • If a Communications error happens during a round, the amount of Ink covered throughout the match won't be saved for the Main Weapon that was used.
