Skype

Hey! We would like to invite you to come on Skype and chat with us about the wiki, since you have been editing recently. If you would like, you can add me (masterclydesuper), or add someone else and we would be happy to add you to the group. If you wouldn't like to Skype, that's fine as well. Thanks! - NepetaLast (talk)

Hey! I actually requested to join the chat already here, but haven't gotten around to it. :D Will add you now – thanks! --Eli (talk) 00:31, 22 June 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

File Leaks

Hey there. Didn't realize Inkipedia had a thing for leaks, I'll hold off on most stuff for now :P Anything I can provide you think'd be useful? --NWPlayer123 (talk) 01:31, 24 June 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hey! No worries. :D Every other site seems to be doing it but I think Inkipedia wants to respect Nintendo's wishes the best they can. And hopefully we're not too far from getting most of the new stuff anyway. ;) Seems you just got added to the Skype, so yay! --Eli (talk) 01:46, 24 June 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Voting

It looks like you either haven't voted on GuyPerfect's request for rights, Lumoshi's demotion, or both. Please consider reading those issues and voting on them! Thanks, NepetaLast (talk)

With 100% support and 0% deny votes, I don't think my decision will have a ton of impact, but looks like they already passed, which is good. :) Sorry for being a bit more inactive lately! –Eli (talk) 09:20, 5 August 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Moving articles

In future when moving articles, please use the move function provided under More in the action bar at the top of the page. Thanks, Inkling luke.png (Inkling talk.png) 10:10, 28 August 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Wowza, never knew that was there. Thought that was restricted to admins – and I wasn't free for the amount of time needed to get on Skype and tell people about it. ;) Thanks for fixing it. –Eli (talk) 10:08, 7 September 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

RE: Grammar & plurality

Hi Eli,

Perhaps it's different over the pond but:

- "The soccer team is in the car." is correct precisely because team is a collective noun as you said. Gear is not a collective noun: it is a mass noun. There is a distinct difference.

- "The camping gear was put in the bag" is definitely favourable over "The camping gear were put in the bag.".

- Consider "The sheep was playing in the field". Despite sheep being a mass noun, we can tell there is only one sheep in the field because was has to numerically agree. However, using "The sheep were playing in the field" makes it immediately obvious that there are multiple sheep in the field.

- Your change to "The announced gear were was all added in Version 2.0.0" makes it sound like only one piece of gear was added, and all does not agree nor make sense.

Kindly,

User:Kjhf/Sig 12:18, 14 September 2015 (UTC)

Perhaps it's just a difference between British and American English, then. Considering this site uses American English and the NA translation for most article titles (e.g. Defense Up is the main page, not Defence Up), we should probably go with what's grammatical in American English. Or we can ask others what they prefer/think. Not sure why you didn't just respond to my post on your userpage, but oh well. –Eli (talk) 22:49, 14 September 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Response on the other's talkpage is generally standard as you get notifications that way :)
I changed the sentence to something neutral. per our policy. As stated above, the 'was all' did not make sense in standard English. Cheers :)
User:Kjhf/Sig 07:23, 15 September 2015 (UTC)
Re: "the 'was all' did not make sense in standard English" – it does. But something "neutral" is better, so thanks for changing it. –Eli (talk) 22:59, 19 September 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Splatfest

How did you make the Pirates vs. Ninjas result image bigger? I'm pretty sure Nintendo didn't release that publicly. If you could, could you find the full result images for the Autobots vs. Decepticons one and the Naughty vs. Nice one? If you could, that'd be awesome. --Sigma talk 23:03, 22 December 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Just had the image saved – sorry that I don't remember the source! I try to save/collect all those sorts of Splatfest-related images when Nintendo posts them to their various social media accounts in all the different regions/languages. :) I'll look through to see if I have better quality/larger versions of any of the other ones again tomorrow. We're missing that sort of image (win/lose picture with the Inklings) for the NA Cars vs. Planes Splatfest along with the Marshmallows vs. Hot Dogs one too, right? –Eli (talk) 11:40, 26 December 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Sorry for the late response, but yeah. No Marshmallow v Hot Dog nor Car v Plane ones. --Sigma talk 02:42, 30 December 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Nice comment on File:Splatfest_Naughty_Wins.jpg. :P Still looking for the full version of that one… –Eli (talk) 04:54, 10 January 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Splatfizzle

Hey, Eli! It's been a while. Do you remember anything about getting the larger Pirates win picture? I never saw them post it on any of their social media accounts, only on the official website. The only reason I'm asking is because we still don't have the Naughty or the Decepticon ones. --Sigma talk 16:37, 20 June 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Heyo! Hope you've been well. I do not – I must've seen it on one of their social media accounts somewhere, perhaps from the European version Facebook page (they don't seem to post the same stuff as the twitter/tumblr all of the time). I don't have any image in that style for the naughty/nice splatfest unfortunately, and only a cropped one of the transformers one. –Eli (talk) 11:32, 22 June 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Aw, that stinks. :( --Sigma talk 13:39, 22 June 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

RE: Splatfest results images

Now that we have the Splatfest Splashback video, do you think you can get a new version of the Pirates vs. Ninjas image? Part of the Ninja logo is cut :/ --Sigma talk 03:10, 28 July 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Oh wait, we don't have the Rock Wins! image. Here's the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMmyS-TldU0 --Sigma talk 17:56, 29 July 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I can do this later, maybe – I added all the ones from the NA Splatfests, or at least I thought I did. If a part's cut off that's the best I could get it (unless it was significantly changed in the updated, re-uploaded video). Or you could do it too! :P –Eli (talk) 12:20, 31 July 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I think it was cut off because that was the one you found from one of their social media pages. Me? I have no clue how to get these images to look as well as you got them. --Sigma talk 14:22, 2 August 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Inkbrush Name Origin

Hi there. I'm trying to put a Name Origin section in all weapons articles, even for those that are simple like the Inkbrush to make them consistent. It is like with the pokémon Mr. Mime, Beedrill and Ditto, who all have a Name Origin section on Bulbapedia despite being very obvious, because all pokémon articles have them. So please stop undoing that section. --AmbientDinosaurSig.pngAmbientDinosaurSigTalk.png 17:03, 1 April 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hiya. I thought my explanation for the edits in the edit summary would be enough. I get that consistency is important, but it also makes for articles which are redundant and filled with just stupid information, to put it bluntly. 100% of the information in your section is included in the section below – so what's the reason for it? Bulbapedia is notorious for this as well and gets made fun of on many other sites, imageboards, etc. for this reason. There's a Twitter bot dedicated to posting unnecessary sentences from the Super Mario Wiki, as well. Why not hold ourselves to a higher standard? –Eli (talk) 03:09, 2 April 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Feel free to remove those sections then, because articles being consistent are important. Also, I was going to clean up and shorten that bit from the section below, so it wouldn't be as redundant. But I had prioritized making Name Origin sections on other articles before doing clean up. But I'm going stop doing additions to articles if they are just considered stupid. --AmbientDinosaurSig.pngAmbientDinosaurSigTalk.png 10:32, 2 April 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I replied to you in the Discord as well with the following message: I think many are helpful and emphasizing consistency across the wiki is important – a lot of the edits I've done are in that fashion as well. I apologize if I didn't phrase it well. It's just a bit silly (in my opinion only!) to have a section with only two pieces of information, one of which seems a bit frivolous (inkbrush = ink + brush) and the other (the reference to Picasso in the Japanese name only) already stated in the section directly below. –Eli (talk) 11:03, 2 April 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Revereted your change to Template:Ink

Hi Eli!

Sorry for backpedaling on your change, I know it was with good intent.

However, the color data in SplatNet has two values, e.g.:{"middle":{"g":0.3176471,"r":0.3294118,"b":0.9254902,"css_rgb":"rgb(33%,32%,93%)","a":1} - note how the JSON values are far more accurate than the css_rgb values. In addition, if you take the JSON values and multiply them by 255, you will notice you will get very nearly whole numbers (e.g. 0.3176471 * 255 = 81.0000105) - that's because those are the values converted from a 0-255 RGB color space. Thus, those are the preferred values to display (and the ones I fill out in the template each time that a new Splatfest is announced).

Thanks for your help, and sorry I had to undo your change. -Inkrid (talk) 12:26, 28 February 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Ooh, smart. Thanks for the heads up, and no worries. Makes sense. :) –Eli (talk) 03:50, 1 March 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Patroller rights

Hi, your edits are numerous and high quality, so you've been given patroller rights. This means that your edits won't be reviewed ("patrolled") by Inkipedia staff anymore because you are trusted and experienced. You get access to the patrolling tools for reviewing the quality of others' edits, and the rollback tool for reverting vandalism. Use of these tools is optional. Feel free to fill in your details at Template:Patrollerlist, which shows up on the staff page and patroller page. If you do not want this user rights change, please let me know. Heddy (talk) 21:29, 29 June 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thanks so much! くコ:彡 –Eli (talk) 06:58, 30 June 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

User group change

Hi, I noticed you were inactive for a while, so I removed you from the patroller group. The group membership can be restored upon request if you want, because you are a trusted and experienced editor. Thank you for your contributions! Heddy (talk) 13:39, 13 May 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

No worries. :) I'm active from time to time but usually not a ton anymore, haha. Thanks for the heads up! –Eli (talk) 12:47, 24 May 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

On PearlFan's talk

Your recent edits to PearlFan23's talk were unacceptable and violated multiple policies. There is no need for swearing, no need for calling out one's religion as a cult, and no need for necro'ing a chat that had come to an end, especially only to flame it. Replied to you in the Discord. –Eli (talk)

Question about change

Hello! I just wanted to ask you about this change to Grass vs. Fire vs. Water - I'd argue that the quote was not irrelevant, and was relevant flavour to the trivia directly below it, serving a similar purpose to what a screenshot of the dialogue would - it is dialogue directly about Shiver winning consecutive Splatfests. Inkublu 🖤 (talk) 01:01, 21 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Apologies, I should have clarified. It seemed a little odd to me since the quote was about Shiver's team consecutively winning the first two Splatfests, but it was juxtaposed with the trivia point that this was the first one she didn't win. If her team had won this one, I could see post-results dialogue about it being relevant, but this was announcement dialogue about her winning the previous fests, not this one. If anything, it should probably go under "Quotes" and not a random quote in the "Trivia" section (which none of the other Splatfest pages feature, either). –Eli (talk) 09:06, 21 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thank you for clarifying. I actually agree with you on the lack of relevance now, but I do think that there is occasions where a quote outside of a "Quotes" section can be relevant - but that does not matter here. Inkublu 🖤 (talk) 00:09, 28 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
