Inside the Deepsea Metro Car

Hey, I see on the Calamari Inkanatation page that you've changed the title for one part from Inside the Deepsea Metro Car to Inside the Deepsea metro car. However that's actually the name of the track according to Octotune, not just a conjectural name. KingAwesome467 (talk) 21:40, 2 January 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Ah, I probably should have done a bit more research first! Sorry about the inaccuracy, and thanks for letting me know and changing it back! GloverMist (talk) 21:46, 2 January 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Splatoon's

What's your reasoning for changing Splatoon's to Splatoon's, which I see on several pages? Doesn't that look alot uglier?  KA467 🗩 🖿  16:07, 10 April 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The only reason I do that is because the apostrophe-S isn't part of the game name, just a suffix to it, and therefore shouldn't technically be enclosed in the square brackets or be italicised. I guess it's a matter of preference, though, I'm not sure if there's a right or wrong way to do it. I have seen similar done elsewhere, but ironically can't find any examples right away! If you do think this is a problem, though, I can change it. GloverMist (talk) 16:16, 10 April 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Well, it's not like it's my decision to make, I'll ask the Discord for opinions.  KA467 🗩 🖿  18:02, 10 April 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The use in template Explain

I've seen you used template Explain/tt which is a bit problematic.
That template does not work on mobile devices. For this reason, please avoid using this template. Instead, consider using footnotes. Footnotes can be created using the {{note}} and {{note list}} templates.
So might wanna undo the changes you did to FTWin page so that mobile readers can read those notes too. User:Shachar700/Sig 07:07, 25 May 2019 (UTC)

Ah, that makes perfect sense! In fact, that's why I mentioned that it may need changing back on the FTWin page, but I wasn't sure then. Thanks for clarifying and I'll undo that change I made! GloverMist (talk) 07:29, 25 May 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Quality options for images from Twitter

Hi!

Thanks for uploading the result image for Kid vs. Grown-Up! However, I was batch uploading the results images for all three regions' recent Splatfests; and I uploaded the EU one in a way that should have flagged it as a duplicate to your image. That would have allowed me to rename your file for consistency (...Wins.jpg -> ...win.jpg).

However, the system did not recognize my upload as a duplicate, due to the fact you unknowingly uploaded the lower-quality file.

You see, When a user uploads an image to Twitter, it automatically gets converted to various sizes (and lower quality) for thumbnails, mobile version, etc. However, it is possible to access the original image size (which is still compressed compared to the REAL original image, but it's the best we can access), the following way.

Let's take the victory Tweet for Kid vs. Grown-Up:
https://twitter.com/NintendoUKVS/status/1140558680557064192
If you right-click on the image to get its URL, you will get
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D9QUEmsW4AsmEDc.jpg
(or the same path with some suffix, such as :large). Note its resolution is 1200x600.
Now add the suffix :orig for ORIGinal after the .jpg:
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D9QUEmsW4AsmEDc.jpg:orig
This will give you access to the highest-resolution version of the file. Note its resolution is 2000x1000.

Thanks again for the help, and hope this helps with future uploads!

Ah, no problem at all! I understand what you mean, so thank you for explaining it - I'll definitely bear that in mind in the future! GloverMist (talk) 13:19, 17 June 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Patroller rights

Hi, your edits are numerous and high quality, so you've been given patroller rights. This means that your edits won't be reviewed ("patrolled") by Inkipedia staff anymore because you are trusted and experienced. You get access to the patrolling tools for reviewing the quality of others' edits, and the rollback tool for reverting vandalism. Use of these tools is optional. It looks like you have already filled in your details at Template:Patrollerlist, which shows up on the staff page and patroller page. By the way, I somehow thought I already did this patrolling ritual 12 months ago but it seems I haven't, so here are the rights. Let me know if you have any questions. How To Create a Page For Songs In Game?

I saw that there are some songs from the game that don’t have their own page yet. Is there a specific info box for it as I’m thinking about making one for the “Girl From Inkopolis” song by Turquoise October.

{WoomyWa} (talk) 17:18, 24 July 2019 (UTC)WoomyWaReply[reply]

Hi there! There isn't a specific info box, per se, but there is a specific way of creating one for the music pages. If you're stuck and don't know where to start, I'd recommend looking into the coding of a specific Turquoise October song page and see how that was created - possibly even copy and paste it to use as a base. Octo Eight-Step is a good example of this, so try that out!
If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask! GloverMist (talk) 19:46, 24 July 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Likely sockpuppet

I'm holding reasonable suspicion over the newly created account for Muc-Mhara64, who joined today shortly after you gave Pikachucet a warning about removing the quote on Marina's page, removed the quote on Marina's page, and tried to argue about it on the talk page using the exact same logic as Pikachucet. Perhaps this is a different person, but given the circumstances, it seems entirely unlikely that a random person would show up with the exact same stance as another user on an extremely specific issue, and exhibit the exact same mannerisms as said user in an attempt to pursue their argument, especially an hour and a half after said user gets a warning from an administrator. If you could look into this, it would be heavily appreciated! Thanks! ShinyCelesteela (talk) 18:50, 31 July 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I suppose this is what I get for trying to help? Pikachucet thinks I'm a sockpuppet of you! 20:01 31st of July 2019 blah blah blah I don't care
Wow, you know exactly what Pikachucet thinks? Impressive! It's almost like you're the same person! ShinyCelesteela (talk) 19:06, 31 July 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Dinnae pin yer bot on me! How about I leave you alone if you also leave ME alone and also agree tae have no quote! That's the only way anythings gonna stop! User:Pikachucet 31, July 2019 (UTC)
To everyone in this conversation: I'm going to weigh up the evidence, bring this to the attention of some other admins who are more experienced than me, and get back to you. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Regardless of whether there is sock-puppetry going on or not, arguing across multiple pages is also not productive to the running of the wiki, so, again, I hope this can be resolved in a civil way. Our multiple accounts policy is very clear on the rules surrounding this, if it is occurring. I sincerely hope this isn't the case, as I don't want to incur a block or anything in my second week of adminship. GloverMist (talk) 19:27, 31 July 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Another likely sockpuppet

Apologies about putting you through this again, but it appears we have another case of more or less the same thing. Shortly after InklingFixer was blocked, an account named コロ流行 showed up and modified their userpage to be the exact same as InklingFixer's, username and all. Feel free to investigate this as you will. Thank you. ShinyCelesteela (talk) 12:44, 5 August 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

No problem, I hadn't noticed, so thank you for letting me know! Very bizarre that this is becoming a more regular thing all of a sudden. I'll send them a message and forward this on to some of the other admins. Thank you for your help! GloverMist (talk) 13:04, 5 August 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Are Pages Needed for The Splatoon Manga Characters?

Someone has made a page for the character Goggles from the Splatoon manga. Is that okay? If so, could other pages be made for the other characters in the manga (only the ones that play a notable role in the story).

{WoomyWa} (talk) 18:32, 15 August 2019 (UTC)WoomywaReply[reply]

Yeah, a group had a discussion about this a short while ago and decided the manga needed a little more representation, so it's now been added to the side bar and work's being done on other pages. Goggles needs a little more detail, but as long as any pages well maintained, relevant, and notable enough, then it will all be appreciated! Feel free to help out as much as you want! GloverMist (talk) 22:20, 15 August 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Sounds good. :) I'll expand his page and make some for the others.

Categories

Hey there, I noticed all the neat categories for Pearl fans and female users and things like that, and was wondering how to add myself to them?? I tried looking at the source of your userpage but couldn’t figure it out ^^; sorry, I’m kinda inexperienced when it comes to wiki code and stuff! 〜SplatterskytalkOE Icon Pearl.png

Ah, of course I can help! The categories are automatically added based on the tag boxes you make for the bottom of the page - for example, you’re already marked under “Female Users”.
As for Pearl, a new template was created yesterday that will do that. I see your current code reads {{Pearl fan}}, so if you change it to {{Fan|Pearl}}, that should add the “Pearl fans” category to your page. Just swap out Pearl’s name for any other artist you want to add! And please don’t apologise for lack of experience, it’s fine! Hope this helps! Do these pieces of Gear that this inkling girl is wearing exists in game?

https://splatoonwiki.org/wiki/File:Inkling_Christmas_Card.jpg

(Namely the top and shoes)

{WoomyWa} (talk) 11:54, 3 September 2019 (UTC)WoomywaReply[reply]

I've had a look through the list of used gear, and as far as I'm aware, neither of them were used in the final game! The closest I could get to the clothing was the Sage Polo, but that's still quite different. Interesting find! GloverMist (talk) 13:00, 3 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Remember Tropical Storm Mario? Regarding Winter Storm Names this year

For some ungodly reason, Pearl’s name made the list for the 2019-2020 season this year. Again, idk why. All I can say is BOOYAH!! Also need to do more pages for the Splatoon manga characters. I plan to do one for Rider soon.

Your edit to [[File:Splatoonminimanga.jpg]] was reverted

Please don’t remove important information. That notice is there to inform users that the manga reads backwards. --InklingFixer (talk) 23:07, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Sorry, but this information is not really relevant for a file page and is also incorrect. Describing its reading orientation as an error in production is simply untrue, as right-to-left is standard in manga, especially native Japanese ones. Besides, with the screenshot being in Japanese, only speakers of the language will understand that anyway. Even without these factors, notices such as this are almost never placed on file pages due to them being very rarely seen by the average reader. I hope this helps. GloverMist (talk) 23:19, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The plural for manga is mangas, not manga. --InklingFixer (talk) 00:53, 6 December 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

putting images on user pages

Hi, I'm new here and I need help with putting images on my user page. Can you help? <:= P.J. GT (talk) 15:01, 11 March 2020 (UTC)P.J. GTP.J. GT (talk) 15:01, 11 March 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi there, and welcome to Inkipedia! Using images isn’t too hard, luckily. If you want to upload one, head to the ‘Upload File’ link towards the bottom of the side bar and follow the instructions there. When you want to add an image to a page, it’s generally as simple as typing something such as [[File:Example.png|thumb|Description]]. You can also add things like its size in pixels, whether it includes a border, or what position on the page it should be - head to this page for all the help you could ever need, or use the two images at the top of my user page for examples!
As a side note, if you want to sign your name on any talk page, simply type ~~~~ at the end, and nothing else. It will add all the info for you! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. GloverMist (talk) 17:11, 11 March 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Sandboxes? ...Why?!?

I'm quite confused by sandboxes. Can someone please explain the benefits to this and why it's FUN? Thanks in Advance! \/\/00|\/|¥*~($P|_@+|\|€R|]@G€|\|+4)~*\/€€|\/|0 (talk) 13:47, 17 March 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Sandboxes can be used for anything! In general, people who consistently work on large projects or major changes to the wiki create some form of a sandbox in their userspace to test what their proposed changes would look like and to be able to easily share it with others, without having to have it in the mainspace. I previously used mine to start writing the list of minor companies. In short, they're totally optional! GloverMist (talk) 16:21, 17 March 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks for the info! I've been thinking about a Sandbox, but I didn't know the purpose. Thank you! \/\/00|\/|¥~($₽|_@+|\|€R|]@G€|\|+4\/€€|\/|0 (Talk) 15:05, 19 March 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
