Seriously though

Well done on those images. [Insert barnstar here] Slate Talk Contribs 16:51, 16 June 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thanks! It actually only took me about 45 minutes to put those together. I wrote a program to process Equip menu screenshots, then put together some images of my equipment one page at a time. One alpha mask later and we have a full dump. <3 --GuyPerfect (talk) 17:06, 16 June 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Changes made to List of gear in Splatoon

Thank you again for adding the majority of the clothing images. I was actually waiting to get a few more pieces before screenshotting/uploading the images but you beat me to it. I noticed the improved version of the table you've prototyped at User:GuyPerfect/Sandbox and I'm in agreement with most of the changes including the renaming of the "Title" column to "Name", the "Cost" column to "Unlock", and the revamped ability column (now mimicking the brand column). I do feel that the Image column should have a heading (maybe "Pic") even if it's not sortable, and that it should be center-aligned. Also, I wanted to note that the lists were not organized alphabetically on purpose. Similar items were grouped together (beanies, glasses, helmets etc.) to provide another layer of information to the reader (help them compare the look of similar versions/types of gear). The table could easily be organized alphabetically by clicking the appropriate header. It was suggested that we create another column for 'type' (e.g. beanie, glasses etc.) so that the wikitext could remain alphabetical for ease of updating, however seeing as these are not official type labels that would not be very desirable. Your input on this would be appreciated. I also wanted to bring up the idea of noting which gear items changed color during play and which ones retained their color. I think another column would be in order for this info. Thoughts? --sunmarsh (talk) 01:09, 20 June 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Happy to help! The images were really quite simple, as I mentioned up above. Building a piece of software to automate a task like this sure makes things easy. I was looking at some of the ones you posted today and it looks like you went around them by hand with an eraser tool. If it's okay with you, then after I get the full set, I want to run them all through my algorithm to ensure they have consistent dimensions and edges. I also reeeally want to change the names of the existing images to match the naming convention.
I've made the suggested changes to my sandbox page. Feel free to edit it along with User:GuyPerfect/GearListHeader and User:GuyPerfect/GearListItem if you want to experiment. We can always put it back the way it was if you break something. (-:
I don't mind having the default ordering of the list being something reasonable like being grouped by item style. I just know that when I'm looking at those Gear lists, I more often than not know the name of the one I'm looking for and head that way first. Having said that, I feel that adding a column for things like "Short Sleeved", "Layered" and "Zip-up" is going a bit out of scope.
Unless I'm mistaken, all clothing and shoes retain their color during gameplay. I went through the headgear and found that most of them do change color, but not the following:
S Gear Headgear Fake Contacts.png Fake Contacts - This doesn't change the eyes, so it's effectively a "no headgear" item.
S Gear Headgear Hero Headset Replica.png Hero Headset Replica
S Gear Headgear Octoling Goggles.png Octoling Goggles
S Gear Headgear Pilot Goggles.png Pilot Goggles
S Gear Headgear Squid Hairclip.png Squid Hairclip
S Gear Headgear Studio Headphones.png Studio Headphones
S Gear Headgear Tennis Headband.png Tennis Headband
S Gear Headgear White Headband.png White Headband
I also didn't notice any changes to S Gear Headgear Retro Specs.png Retro Specs, but the color I saw on the hinges was sort of an orange, where they're green in the thumbnail.
--GuyPerfect (talk) 12:13, 20 June 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
You're free to run your algorithm on whatever images you like. I can provide you with the base screenshots I used if you want? You should also note that a few of the completed gear images are slightly larger because I took a screenshot when hovering over the gear which enlarges its picture slightly. I played around with some of the clothing/shoes and noted that the School Uniform (tie), Power Armor (colored tubes), Samurai Jacket (chain mail), Samurai Shoes (studs on front), and Power Boots (tubes on back) all change color as well. Also I can confirm that the Retro Specs do seem to change color, however the color doesn't really match the ink color. The change is most noticeable with bright pink and dark blue ink. I didn't see orange but I did see it vary between a yellow-green and teal blue. I can also confirm that the Fake Contacts do not result in any visible changes, although several users on various forums claim they change the shape and/or color of the eyes ever so slightly to the point where it is only visible on a large screen. Also you're free to rename the images if you like. I think that Slate has a bot account you may be able to use if you don't already know how to use one. --sunmarsh (talk) 18:20, 20 June 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Wow!

Hey, GuyPerfect! I was just looking around the wiki, and I'm really impressed by what you've done! Even your userpage- that's really something else! This is the part where I'd say "talk to me if you have any questions," but I guess I should talk to you if I have any myself. Keep up the great work! - ShrimpPin 14:08, 20 June 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hiya! Thanks for the words of encouragement... I mean, I know I'm all that, but it's nice when others notice as well. (-: I do have one question, though: any chance you could lift the spam guard against YouTube links? I have a perfect example I tried to add to Communications Error but couldn't. While I'd love to be able to embed videos directly, I understand the concerns there, but I do feel that preventing external links is a bit much. --GuyPerfect (talk) 14:56, 20 June 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Help

User:Gmo b 99 Can you help me design my user page? I want it to show the equipment and turf inked like yours does. Hope that you read this. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gmo b 99 (talkcontribs)

Probably the easiest way to get started is to copy the relevant sections from my userpage into yours and edit them as appropriate. I don't mind, really! --GuyPerfect (talk) 01:35, 11 August 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

User:Gmo b 99 I tried to copy it but where it says user:guyperfect on the equipment something goes wrong? What is happening?

Welcome! Most of the time, you can just type in something from the game and it will show up in some form in one of the articles we have here. If you're not sure where to start, take a look at that "Explore" section on the navbar over on the left side of every page. --GuyPerfect (talk) 13:07, 21 August 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I'm really impressed at your Splatfest display, GuyPerfect. I wish I could have pictures like those on my profile, but it's a little too late for me. I just wanted to say keep up the great work! --Sigma talk 00:37, 30 August 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Speaking of which, could I possibly use your images of Water Slide King and Decepticon King and if you can, could you help me with getting images of Cat King and Marshmallow King images? If you can, that'd be awesome. --Sigma talk 02:49, 13 September 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Those are actual screenshots from when I got the max rank in the respective Splatfests. I'm not sure how one would subsequently go about producing them for other Splatfests. --GuyPerfect (talk) 17:56, 13 September 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It seems I can't upload them off of the Wii U, pressing the home button and having the screenshot be saved. But would you mind if I could use your Water Slide and Decepticon images? And do you think that there could be a way to get images of Cat and Marshmallow kings? --Sigma talk 19:12, 13 September 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Splatfest Imagery

If you could, would it be okay if you could upload a Splatfest pic for me like you do with yours? I'm only asking you of this is you are on Team Art. If not, I could get one off of YouTube, but if you can, could you make one of an inkling dressed like me as an Art King? Thanks, --Sigma talk 02:37, 19 September 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Weapon Tip

You should use the Splash-o-matic. It's like the Aerospray MG, only with a great set. Elite Octoling (talk) 21:48, 17 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It doesn't get much better than Seeker and Inkzooka. In fact, I'm not sure it does get better than Seeker and Inkzooka. (-: I can't bring myself to let Inkzooka go because it's so gosh darn useful in places like Moray Towers and Arowana Mall where snipers like to set up shop and glue their butts to the perch thinking they're all that. And truth to tell, I actually prefer the inking capacity of Splattershot over Aerospray--not as rapid, but it shoots far enough that it's really a better feel for me. I don't think I could scale back the range for Splash-o-matic. --GuyPerfect (talk) 21:57, 17 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The Bomb Rush set is rather good. You should try some of the new weapons. I've always felt the Aerosprays need a bit of a rapid-fire nerf. Elite Octoling (talk) 22:08, 17 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I main-ed the RG before main-ing the Splash-o-matic. Still use the Aerospray for Turf because nothing beats it on points. Splash-o-matic is just a more pro version of the Aerospray and better rounded, but you do lose out on points for it. Slate Talk Contribs 22:34, 17 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

History Monthly Stages available

Hi GuyPerfect,

First I would like to thank you for this wonderful website: Inkipedia. I have had contact with Kjhf, Because you are working on a tool for tracks stages.

I have a good idea for the Inkipedia: History Monthly Stages available. For every 4 hours will you get a new maps. It is also quite nice when you per month: How many total stages have become available per month. As you can each month compare!

Example

November 2015 Stages
Turf Wars Maps
250x Arowana Mall
225x Blackbelly Skatepark
...
Splat Zones
100x Arowana Mall
150x Blackbelly Skatepark
...
Tower Control
125x Arowana Mall
110x Blackbelly Skatepark
...
Rainmaker
135x Arowana Mall
105x Blackbelly Skatepark
...

I'm curious about your answer.

Thanks ;)

Greetings Dolfijn NL

This is a great idea! I'm very interested in doing this and intend to have a service up and running to start tracking stages in December. The PHP script I wrote processes the markup from this page, though I still need some research and testing when Splatfest happens. Hopefully I can get it all worked out and we can accurately track stages beginning in December. --GuyPerfect (talk) 19:59, 24 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

What will happen to Splatoon when Miiverse will shut down?

Since Miiverse is shutting down on November 7th, I'm kind of scared to see what will happen to Splatoon by the time Miiverse shuts down. I know that Miiverse post will no longer be viewable on the stages, like for example, Ancho-V Games, Saltspray Rig, even at Inkopolis. I only have Splatoon for the Wii U. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AsrielTheInkling (talkcontribs)

Miiverse posts will no longer show in Inkopolis Plaza or in stages. On an unrelated note, SplatNet shuts down on September 30th but the servers for the game remain intact. Inkling luke.png Inkling talk.png 16:27, 4 September 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Perfection in weapon images??

I added the info for the L-3 Nozzlenose D, but I could not find out how you get those perfect, alpha-channeled PNG files for all the weapon profiles =(.
The best I could get is the 128x128 image from the Data mine from August, which I didn't want to upload since it's both lower quality and dubious-er sourced =P.
PLEASE TEACH ME, SQUIDPAI!!! - Inkrid (talk) 18:40, 5 January 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Those come from SplatNet 2 once the weapon is released in game. The images from the datamine are good as temporary images. Inkling luke.png Inkling talk.png 21:21, 5 January 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Perfect! Thanks squid-sei! - Inkrid (talk) 21:46, 5 January 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
FWIW, if you don't want to have to rip 'em yourself (just by copying your cookie/authentication from the mobile app to a PC browser, really), they show up on https://splatoon2.ink/ as soon as they're released in-game. Those should be the full quality versions too. –Eli (talk) 10:06, 10 January 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I asked Shahar about this and he told me to ask you so; can you make a new InfoboxGobbler code that makes more than one along with another to keep one in a page section? Regarding Template:GearCategory

How did you get the headgear, clothing, and shoe icons to display from that page, and where are they stored and how? Lapsem (talk) 01:28, 9 September 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

They're these:
They had to be presented using CSS because the color has to be compatible with an upcoming dark mode and be partially transparent. --GuyPerfect (talk) 13:31, 9 September 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

God bless you for adding card images to Template:TableturfDeck

I added the opponent images to Gomtuu's page as well. It's a good page! --GuyPerfect (talk) 21:53, 26 September 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Todo

I completely agree that the Todo template was unnecessary and oft-misused. However, removing a notice template from a page without either adding the needed information or a more appropriate notice does nothing but hide the article's flaws from both the reader and any users who may have the ability and willingness to fix said flaws - the guiding principle behind every wiki. Placing the contents of the todo in the article's talk page arguably does less than nothing to address this.

As an aside, none of the edits you have made to this effect are marked as bot edits, nor are they signed on the talk page - although I can understand the latter, as you were not the one to write the notice. If you performed all of these edits manually, I salute your perseverance.
