Wayslide Cool is a multiplayer stage in Splatoon 2. It was the first variation of Shifty Station. It appeared in the Mayo vs. Ketchup Splatfest, and returned in the Chaos vs. Order and second Mayo vs. Ketchup Splatfests. As of Version 5.0.0, it is exclusively available in Private Battles. It features large, sliding platforms that move across the stage.

Layout

Players spawn on either end of the stage, on raised platforms that lead down to sequentially shorter platforms connected by ramps. To the right is a large open area, and straight ahead is a small passage connecting the two halves of the map. In the gaps between each half of the map are two medium-sized platforms that periodically move side-to-side.

Trivia

  • The filename for this stage is "Deli02" and the codename is "Push", likely referring to how the moving platforms push players around.
  • This stage was one of five returning stages to lack the ambience that other Shifty Stations had in Recon mode during Chaos vs. Order. It has also been missing the sound effect that plays while the moving platforms are in motion since its return.

Etymology

Wayslide Cool is named after the Wayside School books by Louis Sachar, as well as being a pun on the large sliding platforms seen in the stage. It is also likely a play on the phrase "way cool".
