Backward Cap
- For the other pieces of gear that include backward caps, see Backward cap (disambiguation).
The Backward Cap, known in Splatoon and Splatoon 2 as the Backwards Cap, is headgear in the Splatoon series.
In Splatoon, it is a 1-star item produced by Zekko and comes with the primary ability Quick Respawn. It can be purchased from Cooler Heads for 700.
In Splatoon 2, it is a 1-star item produced by Zekko and comes with the primary ability Quick Respawn. It can be purchased from Headspace for 700 or from SplatNet 2 Gear Shop for 1,750.
In Splatoon 3, it is a 0-star item produced by Zekko and comes with the primary ability Quick Respawn. It can be purchased from Naut Couture for 700 or from SplatNet 3 Shop for 1,750.
Appearance
The Backward Cap is a flat-brimmed cap worn backwards. It has a dark gray brim, a tiny version of the Zekko logo on the front (the back, if worn in the default style), and Zekko's name in large, black and white Inkling letters on the other side. The main part of the hat changes color to match that of the wearer's ink. In Splatoon 3, the cap can be rotated to face forwards using the 'Adjust Gear' feature.
Despite looking strikingly similar to the CoroCoro Cap from the front, the Backward Cap is worn differently: it is almost completely straight, while the CoroCoro Cap is angled, with the Zekko logo over the wearer's left eye. The lettering seems to mimick the word/emblem Zekko rather than CoroCoro.
Splatoon
Abilities
The Backward Cap comes with Quick Respawn as the primary ability. As a 1-star item, the Backward Cap comes with one additional slot for secondary abilities, which may be increased to a maximum of three slots with a Super Sea Snail or 30,000 cash for each slot. Since it is made by the Zekko gear brand, it has a higher chance of rolling Special Saver and a lower chance of rolling Special Charge Up to fill its secondary ability slot.
Splatoon 2
Abilities
The Backward Cap comes with Quick Respawn as the primary ability when purchased from a shop or ordered from Murch. When purchased from SplatNet 2, it comes with any other primary ability normally available to Headgear. As a 1-star item, the Backward Cap comes with one additional slot for secondary abilities, which may be increased to a maximum of three slots with a Super Sea Snail for each slot. Since it is made by the Zekko gear brand, it has a higher chance of rolling Special Saver and a lower chance of rolling Special Charge Up to fill its secondary ability slot.
