Cap'n Cuttlefish's Theme is a song in the Splatoon series.

Description

Cap'n Cuttlefish's Theme is an ambient, military-themed track (in line with Cap'n Cuttlefish's military background in the Squidbeak Splatoon), with march-like rhythms and a prominent wooded drum beat. A moody electric guitar with effects applied plays the main melody. In Splatoon, it plays during the introduction cutscene of Octo Valley when the player first enters Octo Valley and meets Cap'n Cuttlefish. It can also be heard in Squid Beatz. In Splatoon 3, the song plays in the introduction cutscene of Return of the Mammalians when the player first enters the Crater and meets Cuttlefish, and it is also available in the jukebox.

Remixes and covers

Cap'n Cuttlefish's Theme (Octo)

A remix of this track was created for the Octo Expansion with a more complicated sound. Although very similar, there is additional underlying background production, for a deeper, more complex sound. It is only heard after the introduction of the Octo Expansion where Agent 8 meets Cap'n Cuttlefish for the first time during the cutscene in the Abandoned Station, in a similar way to Agent 3's initial encounter. It transitions to Character Creation when the player is asked to customize Agent 8's appearance, but switches back once finished. The theme continues playing until the player enters and travels inside the abandoned train when it gradually fades away and is replaced by the Abandoned Station Theme. In Octotune, it is merged with the Character Creation theme to create one music track as アタリメのテーマ(Octo)~プレイヤーメイク (Cap'n Cuttlefish's Theme (Octo) ~ Character Creation). In the Nintendo Music app, the combined music track appears as Cap'n Cuttlefish's Theme (Octo) / Character Creation.

Cap'n Cuttlefish's Theme (Dry)

In Splatoon 3's single-player campaign Return of the Mammalians, a remix of Cap'n Cuttlefish's Theme plays when Cuttlefish is revived. It is in a much higher pitch than the other versions of this song and is slightly off-tune.
