Haikara
From Inkipedia, the Splatoon wiki
Haikara is the romanization of the Japanese word ハイカラ, a word used throughout the Japanese versions of games in the Splatoon series. It may refer to:
- Inkopolis Plaza (ハイカラシティ, Haikara Shiti), a location
- Inkopolis Square (ハイカラスクエア, Haikara Sukuea), a location
- City of Color (ハイカラシンカ, Haikara Shinka), a song
- HaikaraWalker, one of the Splatoon 2 artbooks
- Haikara Memento, a competitive Splatoon team
Haikara is a late 19th century fashion trend referring to the adoption of Europeanized fashion styles among Japanese people.[1] It is an English loanword, adapting high-collar; in Splatoon, it is also a pun on the words イカ (ika, squid) and color. An opposite fashion trend termed bankara was formed in response to the haikara trend. Haikara is otherwise often used to refer to the general Inkopolis region.
