C.Q. Cumber's Quotes

You'll need to use the Inkfurlers in this area to create a path through the air.
Once they're unfurled, shoot the end to keep 'em that way.
And keep in mind that Inkfurlers will roll back up if they're hit by enemy ink.

Marina's Quotes

Rush through or proceed with caution... What to do - whatcha gonna do?
Octocommander dead ahead! Watch out for that Inkfurler rolling back up.
I thought you'd fallen off!
Ah - looks like this ride rail loops back around to where it starts.

Pearl's Quotes

Yeah! Now dip, dive, slip 'n' slide!
You've got a main and a sub weapon. Don't be shy about using 'em both!
Ugh - more bad guys?!
Bam! Who's next?!
That. Was. Awesome!
So many Inkfurlers... Not fun.
Watch out - that sniper looks like trouble!
Nice work, Eight! You're a beast.

  • The station's title is a play on the phrase "Slip 'n' Slide" and the subtitle is a play on the phrase "For realz".
  • Ink 'n' Slide Station, under its Japanese name, "Ciretami Yama River Station", was revealed before the Octo Expansion was released.
  • The Japanese title of this station is a pun on "Kireta misanga" (a broken misanga).
  • This station has Rock'n Flowers and what looks like marbles floating around in the background of this level. The Rock'n Flowers are a toy made by a Japanese company called Takara in the eighties.
    • The Dutch title of this station alludes to the Rock'n Flowers and the marbles. "Knikkeren" also means "to play with marbles", supporting the idea that there are marbles floating around.

Translation notes

  1. Comes from "betoeterd zijn", a Dutch expression meaning "to be out of (your) mind". "Betoeterd" is a pun on "inkttoeter" (Inkfurler).
  2. Comes from "de bloemetjes buiten zetten", a Dutch expression meaning "to go out/to party", and "knikkeren" (to chuck out).
  3. Comes from "Band" (tape) which comes from "Schnalzbänder" (Inkfurler), and "-reuth", a suffix found in certain German city and district names.
  4. Comes from "podorozhnik", a Russian name for plantain, middle part of the word comes from "dorozka", this word used as a translation for Inkfurler.
  5. Comes from "Fenechka" which means "hand-made bracelet of threads or ribbons", -ovo make it sound like a station name.
