Inkipedia:Patrollers
Patrollers are a group of experienced users who are entrusted for making sure all edits meet Inkipedia's standards.
Commonly used functions
Main article: User group rights
The position comes with three primary features:
- Patrollers' own edits are automatically marked as reviewed.
- Patrollers can mark others' edits as reviewed.
- Patrollers also have access to the PatrolTool, a fancy way to patrol edits.
- Patrollers can use the rollback tool to revert edits.
Patrollers who join the Inkipedia Discord server will be given the patroller role, which allows access to the staff chat.
Becoming a patroller
Main article: Requests for rights
Patroller rights can be received by being nominated or nominating yourself at Requests for Rights. After a nomination, users will vote whether the nominated user should receive the rights. Patroller rights requests are typically granted for users who frequently edit, help other users, monitor Inkipedia's recent changes, and show good judgement of those changes (reverting, improving on it, talking to the editor, being helpful). In other words, if you are already patrolling Inkipedia well, then you can get the patroller position.
Demotion
Main article: Demotion
A user with rights can be demoted through Inkipedia's democratic demotion request process.
Patrollers that do not edit or patrol for six months may be subject to demotion, without a community vote. Resuming regular activity and contacting an admin will often result in reinstatement of rights.
If a patroller is demoted due to inactivity, they will still be trusted as an experienced former patroller. These users have the following privileges:
- They will continue to have access to the staff-only channels in Discord. As an experienced former patroller, their insight, opinions, and advice are valuable to other Inkipedia users on Discord.
- They will be placed in the autopatrolled users group, a list of trusted users.
- They may reclaim their patroller rights by contacting an admin or bureaucrat through any contact method. This bypasses the voting process used for rights requests. Former patrollers have the trust of the community, so voting is not necessary.
Bureaucrats have the final say regarding the status of a user. Naughty users may lose community trust and may have privileges revoked.
Current patrollers
An up-to-date list can be fetched using Special:ListUsers/patrol.
These users were chosen by the community and will serve indefinite terms until they resign, become inactive, or are impeached by the community.
