Inkipedia:Proposals/Passed/Audio Use Policy (2)

This is a copyright matter- a serious issue where we are likely breaking the law. There's fair use, but that's just a last-ditch court defense, one that we have no desire to use. For these reasons, I have decided to restrict this vote to admins.
This is a second attempt to get the audio use policy passed. Please read the full policy draft here.
There was a community vote for this issue, but it failed, showing that the majority of users would like to continue using Inkipedia as a streaming platform, regardless of the consequences for Inkipedia. The worse case scenario is that Nintendo submits a DMCA request to Inkipedia and Inkipedia is forced to remove all audio, and not even allowed to use 30 second samples. By limiting audio to 30 seconds, we can protect Inkipedia.
In summary:
- Audio must be in MP3 160 kbps format, with 30 second length. Any part of the audio may be used, but generally the first 30 seconds will be used. Old files with non-MP3 formats may be kept, but all new uploads must comply. Non-compliant audio should be deleted swiftly after their replacement has been uploaded.
- The audio source should be the game itself. Splatune OST, Youtube, and Soundcloud are not allowed. A disallowed source can be used when it is the only official source.
- The purpose of audio on Inkipedia is to describe what text cannot.
