Inkipedia:Proposals/Passed/Rename site templates

Like a jugsaw puzzle in a hurricane, Inkipedia's template names are all over the place! Some use Title Casing ([[Template:Incomplete Source]]), some use Sentence casing (Template:Italic title), and some use CamelCasing ([[Template:ColorScheme]]). This makes searching and use pretty disorganized and inconsistent. Because of this, I'd like to propose that all non-abbreviated templates use the same naming format. Moving everything won't be that difficult, as I can handle it pretty easily. The problem lies in what naming scheme we want to use! When posed in Ink Pump, answers were pretty spread about which to go for, so I've made this a proposal instead. The option with the most votes will be added to the manual of style for the naming guide on templates, and how we use them.
I'm personally a Title Case kinda person, but this is for y'all to pick, not just me. Trig Jegman - 23:35, 24 August 2024 (UTC)

All templates use full Capitalization
For this option, ALL words in the template name are to be capitalized: No exceptions. For example: "Splatoon Rollers With Booyah Bomb". Hyphenated terms (extremely rare to exist, something like "Semi-conductor") would not be capitalized post hyphen.
Support
All templates use linguistically-accurate Title Case
For this option, most words will be capitalized as expected (Splatoon 2 Capital Letters), but words such as "to", "and", "for", and "a", which are generally not capitalized would not be capitalized (Splatoon 3 and the Capital Letters).
Support
All templates use Sentence case
Somewhat straightforward. Only the first letter of the template and proper terms are capitalized (Silver-colored door handles in Splatoon 2).
Support
- I believe this is the option with the best balance of neatness and ease of use.

- I support using Sentence casing for template names, it would stay consistent with its usage for general article titles and section headers. Lid (talk) 02:27, 25 August 2024 (UTC)
- I think this option is better for the template names. It has the better format for me.

- Makes the most sense to me - and, as a sidenote, Wikipedia also uses this naming convention for templates. YetAnotherContrivedUsername (zhe/purr) (talk・edits) 16:10, 29 August 2024 (UTC)

All templates use CamelCase
Templates will use CamelCase, a space-less format where separation of terms is apparent due to capitalization. More on that here.

Do nothing
Vote in this section if you oppose all options, or if you are neutral, or if you wish to abstain.

- I am abstaining on this one. Regardless of the case we are using it will end up with an unified system and I could see both of the last two options working. Perfectionist (talk) 07:14, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
Discussion
Sidenote - conventions for abbreviated templates?
I'm guessing this might end up as its own proposal, but it might be worth establishing a consensus for abbreviation templates as well (stuff like Template:TYA, Template:OV, Template:Ss, Template:RotM etc).
It looks like most of these templates (via Special:AllPages) are all fully-capitalized, with a few exceptions using title case instead (such as the aforementioned Template:Ss and Template:RotM). This isn't anywhere near the same level of inconsistency as the non-abbreviated templates, but it's probably worth establishing a single naming convention for these templates as well whilst we're ahead of the curve.
Maybe we should aim to keep these all caps (seeing as that appears to be the current consensus for most of these)? Feel free to contribute any thoughts any of you may have on the matter though. YetAnotherContrivedUsername (zhe/purr) (talk・edits) 17:11, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
- Could've sworn I put it in here but if not: As of right now, this is not going to address abbreviated templates. That can be handled at another time. Trig - 17:31, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
