Memory cubes[1], also called blister packs[2] or simply packs are objects encountered in Splatoon 3: Side Order. They are the physical manifestation of memories made from digitized mem cakes belonging to multiple, indiscernible Octolings previously captured by Kamabo Co.[3] mixed together[4] within the Memverse.
These cubes can be found as a background element in certain floors of the Spire of Order — the Spire functions as a factory where memory cubes are generated, grayscaled, and incinerated.[1] The incinerated Memory cubes take the form of ash, which is blown by fans over the Order Sector.[5]
A selection of memory cubes encountered in floors can be bought from Cipher as locker decorations.
Appearance
Memory cubes are translucent, bluish-green containers within which an object is encased; each object within represents the memories of multiple Octolings' collective, conjoined memory, as they are converted mem cakes from Kamabo Co.'s storage warehouse.[3] The objects within are predominantly toys, beginner's tools or household objects, suggesting they are related to the Octolings' childhood memories. Many of the objects feature octopus-themed designs.
Foyer memory cubes
In the foyer, Agent 8 can interact with two memory cubes in order to play past events of the DLC. The memory cube on the left of the elevator depicts a Controller VM, and allows the player to "Remember First Climb" or "Remember Saving Marina". The former option allows the player to climb the spire with Pearl's Palette in the same manner as the first playthrough, and the latter allows the player to replay the fight against Marina Agitando with Pearl's Palette.
The memory cube on the right of the elevator depicts a rainbow-colored Killer Wail megaphone. Interacting provides the options to select "Remember Epic, Vibrant Battle", "Remember Elevator to the Skies", and "Remember Entering Inkopolis Square". These options respectively allow the player to either replay the last phase of the first battle with Overlorder, replay the credits, or replay the Inkopolis Square introduction cutscene (which also returns the player to Inkopolis Square). The "Remember Entering Inkopolis Square" option was added in version 7.1.0.
