Peristalsis Phase is the sixth stage in the Octo Expansion's finale.

Agent 8 must ride an energy core-driven platform with the energy core acquired from the previous stage to the end of the level, defending it from a long series of enemies and obstacles.

If the energy core loses all its health, Agent 8 must restart from the last checkpoint. Checkpoints can heal the core, but it cannot regain health any other way.

If the player gets repeatedly splatted, they have the option to skip this phase, with each splat contributing to 20% Skip Charge, where the following dialogue will be displayed:

"Agent 8 defended the energy core and plugged it in..."

Marina's Quotes

Shooting the energy core should cause the platforms to move.
You've gotta guide it to the plug without letting the enemy destroy it.
Protect the core, and plug it in to activate the central elevator.
Then follow Cap'n Cuttlefish!
Octomissiles incoming! Destroy them before they reach the energy core!
It seems that reaching checkpoints helps the energy core recover.
You can't defeat those Octowashers! You'll have to avoid hitting them.
It's the Octobomber! Gotta get it repaired, quick!
Those lasers are blocking the way...
That took one laser down!
There's a switch up top... Just one!
Ahhhhhhh... The energy core is nearing critical failure!
Energy core installation complete!
The central elevator is just ahead. Hurry!
Agent 8? AGENT 8?!
— When the player got splatted.

Pearl's Quotes

So this is where the energy core went! Now what?
Yikes, that looks dangerous...
Time it right and run through in one go!
I think you can reach Sunglasses with bombs!
Next, switches... Two of 'em!
Let's get busy!
Damage is starting to pile up!
Made it at last!
— When the player got splatted.
