Shiho Fujii is a composer who works for Nintendo and is one of the composers for the Splatoon series. She is in charge of the composition for several fictional bands, such as the Chirpy Chips and the Squid Sisters. She is the namesake of Shy-Ho-Shy, who is mentioned to be the Squid Sisters' music producer.
Shy-Ho-Shy
Shy-Ho-Shy is a fictional character in the Splatoon series that acts as a means to represent Shiho Fujii's role as the Squid Sisters' original composer.
Shy-Ho-Shy was a judge at a Youth Folk-Singing contest in Calamari Country attended by a young Callie and Marie. Even though the two were a bit odd, Callie and Marie's rendition of the Calamari Inkantation caught Shy-Ho-Shy's attention. She became their producer sometime after, writing most of the songs sung by the Squid Sisters.[1] One such song is City of Color, a demo of which can be found on the album Splatoon Live in Makuhari -Shiokalive-. The track features an edited version of Shy-Ho-Shy's voice that changes depending on which of the Squid Sisters' voices she tries to mimic.[2]
Marina has mentioned that she has been in touch with Shy-Ho-Shy, although she feels like she might be overstepping some boundaries by doing so.[3]
Shy-Ho-Shy would go on to write the melody of Wave Goodbye after Callie came up with the song's lyrics. Yet, the other Squid Sisters song deputing in Splatoon 3, Tomorrow's Nostalgia Today, would be composed by You★Me, a new producer for the Squid Sisters. The introduction of You★Me is likely an analog for Shiho Fujii's diminishing role as a member of the Splatoon series sound team, as well as introducing Yumi Takahashi as the new real-life composer for the Squid Sisters.
