In May 2015, before the release of Splatoon, Nintendo of America launched a marketing campaign to promote the game. The campaign featured footage of the game, accompanied by original music made exclusively for the campaign, with lyrics describing the game and its features.
The ads ran on TV and YouTube for North America. People in other regions could access the ads on YouTube. They were also dubbed in Spanish for the Latin American market; these versions include a web address, www.entintate.com (meaning "ink yourself up"), which links to the Spanish version of the American Splatoon series website.
