Confirm: can the Flipper-Flopper splat from fall damage?

I have personally never seen a Flipper-Flopper explode upon hitting the ground - no matter how much damage it has already taken, it seems to me that it will always require at least one more attack to splat properly. If it can splat on impact alone, it should be clearer that this is possible. Just a silly little goose ^.^ (talk | contribs) 06:10, 19 September 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It is true that the damage upon landing is not enough. However, a Flipper-Flopper can already be attacked in the air or might not have been splatted in time. This means that the next instance it crashes to the ground will be enough damage to splat it.  Perfectionist  (talk) 07:05, 19 September 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
However, I will keep this in mind and look further into it as it could indeed be a case where player damage is required.  Perfectionist  (talk) 07:07, 19 September 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
After torturing a Flipper-Flopper in the Field Guide until Mr. Grizz despawned it and then damaging a second as much as possible before breaking its mask, it seems that bonking on the ground leaves the Flipper-Flopper with a set amount of health rather than properly dealing any damage to it. I am not sure on the specifics, but I am confident in saying that it cannot die unless it is killed.
On a tangential note, the ring seems to center on a player's position the moment it is thrown, and has no homing properties - the lag between the ring being thrown and it landing makes its position seem random. As the Field Guide only supports one player, I cannot speak on its maximum range or what player it prioritizes attacking.
