Possible trivia?

They seem to be like Timmy and Tommy from the animal crossing series, could it be used for a trivia section? Mrawesome1010 (talk) 16:46, 9 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Eh, feels like a stretch. Miss Delibirda (talk) 16:46, 9 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I know Timmy and Tommy have a quieter line of repeated dialogue like Donny does, but I wanted to add that I think it's better if the reference is left out until release and we see more of their lines. Species?

I remember hearing that Shelly and Donny resemble a type of shrimp or something, does anyone know which one? Arivaki-Kun S2 Gear Headgear Golden Toothpick.png JPTGoldDynamoRoller.png S3 Badge Classic Squiffer 5.png (banter) 19:25, 10 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

German name origins

"Kim und Körnchen" are probably based on "Kimme und Korn", the rear and front parts of an iron sight. JoWi (talk) 22:08, 28 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

This makes a lot more sense. Feel free to add this to the tables.   Perfectionist   (talk) 22:15, 28 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

On Discord we discussed whether this page should be titled "Shelly & Donny" or "Shelly and Donny". Ampersands (&) should not be used in formal writing, unless the ampersand is part of a name, so to decide this we must establish if the ampersand is truly part of their collective name.

"Shelly & Donny" is only used once in-game, for the title of a Tableturf card. "Shelly and Donny" is never used in-game, but "Shelly and Donny" is always used by Nintendo in official social media posts about the game. Based on the context of each use, I strongly believe the ampersand was only meant to be used for the card, and that it was never meant to be used to describe the characters in general writing or dialogue. This makes sense, because the characters are too young to have adopted a trade name or stage name yet, like a comedian duo or other business duo would, and adopting such a name is the only way that an ampersand would realistically become part of a duo's name.

Most people either agree with me or don't care about this at all, so the page has been moved back to "Shelly and Donny". Thanks to Perfectionist for putting up with me :) Heddy (talk) 16:33, 1 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
