Template talk:Twitter archive

From Inkipedia, the Splatoon wiki

Adding threads to the template, parameters table, changing date to include time of day.

I am currently working on adding this tweet to the archives, since it's technically missing, but I have encountered some issues while doing so, mentioned below.

Firstly, the template should probably support threads. The tweet I am adding is the first in a two-tweet thread, with the second already in the archive, and not being able to mark them as parts of the same thread is kind of a bummer.

Secondly, the template page should use a table for it's parameters, like some other template pages (for example, Template:Brand).

Additionally, I think that the date of tweets in the archive should also include the time of day (in Japan's time), as it is available on twitter. This change, if made, should also be reflected in the template page's "Parameters" list. For example:

date — When the tweet was posted

would become

date — When the tweet was posted, with the following format:
H:mm, MMMM d, yyyy

with the time in the example changing from

Alternatively, it could just say to use ISO 8601 for formatting time, but that standard looks bad, in my opinion. Clozent (talk) 12:30, 12 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I don't believe tweets show the time it was posted, and there's no basis to use Japan time over UTC given we internationally cover accounts. Even then, I don't think it is important information to track on our end of things—we already have a ton of tweets added without it, and I don't think it would be useful information. Furthermore, we do support threads somewhat—use replyname. The order of tweets per day still needs touched up regardless, but the main concern was to get all tweets here *first* because thats the more important information to save. The reason parameters aren't in a table is...because I just didn't do it that way. If you'd like to change the documentation, I won't stop you. Honestly its pretty rare I even get that much info for a template up anyway. Thanks for your suggestions! Trig - 18:29, 12 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
