Taunting is a type of action meant to convey victory or anger opponents that usually does not affect gameplay in any way. Though taunting is not part officially part of Splatoon, players have used game mechanics in ways not originally intended to create various taunts.
Squidbagging
Rapidly changing to and from squid and kid forms with the button is known in the Splatoon community as squidbagging, deriving from the popular video game phrase teabagging. This action is usually performed by a player after they have splatted an opponent, sometimes over the splatted player's spot of death. Because splatted players must briefly watch their killer's actions while waiting to respawn, this taunt is typically used to signal victory and mock the defeated Inkling.
Bowing
Bowing refers to a more uncommon taunt that involves Inklings lowering their heads using the button. This action is typically performed after a teammate is splatted, and should only be used if there are no enemies nearby. Often, players bow to Squid Beakons placed after a teammate is splatted, serving to communicate a message of encouragement, companionship, or vengeance to the fallen Inkling.
Charger Taunts
Charger taunts are taunts typically performed with Charger-type weapons. Many Charger taunts exist, but most involve rapidly firing short bursts of ink with the button while looking up or spinning.
