Custom Explosher question

Why are you claiming on the T-tek, Ballpoint Nouveau, Ink Storm, and Inkjet pages, that the Custom Explosher has 230p when it doesn't? Recommended Abilities

Thank you for contributing to the wiki! Unfortunately, these recommended abilities sections were discussed before as not appropriate in the specific weapon's aticles due to them being subjective, differs in playstyle or meta dependant. We've left some external links in the Abilities page for readers to look for gear loadouts or ability effectiveness. We'd like upon agreement to remove those sections. Dear AlexD830, the recommended abilities you've added recently do not fit the main space as the reasons I stated above. They also do not have grounds to them as no source or reference has been given. We've started to move the recommended abilities sections to their own competitive space (See Splattershot Jr. and Competitive:Splattershot Jr. for example). The trivia policy that recently got passed mentions that the trivia section should not be a place to dump random facts and occurrences that occur. It should be something worth noting. Using 3rd person and being more formal while editing

Hello, I have noticed your recent contributions have been written in 1st person. Please make sure to write in 3rd person while editing. Also, make sure to be more formal while editing pages. Sentences such as "If they do manage to splat you, you'll respawn way more quickly." can be written better as "Even if the player is splatted, they will respawn very quickly." Thanks! Your edit war on Tacticooler

Hello AlexD380, I have reverted your edits on Tacticooler multiple times because Ink armor is not related to the special. Yes, they both affect the entire team, but not always for Tacticooler. Sometimes only 2 people will grab the drink, or sometimes 3. Additionally, the specials are in two separate games, making it irrelevant. The effects are completely different as well. Please note that edit warring is not allowed on Inkipedia, and may result in a block if it goes further. Thank you. Tapping in here. Instead of going back and forth edits on the matter for Tacticooler, I would suggest discussing the matter of specials on the talk page (or your user talk page right here!) instead. That way, a longer, more concise understanding of the positions being taken be observed and a conclusion can be made, instead of participating in the exchange of edits. It is clear that some of the information you have provided is contested for accuracy, and trying to understand why it is or isn't going to work for the page is important. Thanks! Trivia policy

Hi AlexD830, thanks for your contributions to Inkipedia. I wanted to leave a message here because I'm not sure if you have read Inkipedia's trivia policy. You can follow that link to read the policy, but a summary is that trivia must be true facts about the article subject that don't fit elsewhere in the article, and are of interest to note. Examples include but are not limited to: facts that seem hard to believe but are indeed true, an obscure but amusing piece of information, seemingly unintentional recurrences, real-world references, or seemingly unintentional but unmistakable similarities between two subjects. I noticed one fact you added to a trivia section didn't seem like trivia to me (if you disagree with me on that one, reply about it so we can talk about it here). Put more simply, trivia are fun facts! If the fact is true, and fun or interesting or amusing, then it's trivia! I don't know how else to say it, but hopefully that makes sense. At the suggestion of another staff member I'd like to add to what Heddy has said and say that I and several other editors have noticed a very high number of these sorts of edits, as well as a generally uncooperative attitude towards editors who point them out or correct them, sometimes culminating in edit wars (which is a breach of policy you have been warned about by staff multiple times) or taking reverted info and simply moving it to another page rather than attempting to start a dialogue or acknowledge that the info may be unfit for Inkipedia. Here is a list of specific reverted, unhelpful-seeming or generally contested trivia section (or content-wise trivia-y) edits of yours I was able to quickly grab links to: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10. Note that most of your edits were undone by members of staff; even edits of yours that are assessed to be worth keeping tend to need cleanup by other editors very, very frequently (see this one).
Please note you have been warned about the unhelpful nature of some of your trivia section additions by staff in the past few years. User:Driftin Soul: If you claim that Bomb Rush and Super Chump are "too dissimilar" to be considered a rework, I'm surprised that you don't claim the same about Echolocator and Wave Breaker. And can you tell me how my point about how the Bomb Rush being indirectly replaced by the Super Chump was too much of a stretch? Also, since all shooters except the .52 Gal have been given a second variant, that means that the .52 Gal is indeed the last one to have its second variant debuted, so it's not speculation (Although if it was up to me, the .52 Gal Deco would have debuted on the March 2023 update and gotten Curling Bomb and Reefslider).

I've undone your recent edits. To be crystal clear: Do not make more trivia changes. As has been established here and User_talk:Heddy, your trivia points are not useful or concise, and in some instances outright wrong. I don't think you have understood the purpose of our messaging. Trivia sections are *only* for content that does not generally fit into the scope or layout of a main article. Weapon comparisons, especially for ones easily subject to change or are convoluted/niche, do not provide genuinely useful information to a reader. Trivia should not be the main focus of article construction. Furthermore, page merging for similar weapons is unlikely to occur as they serve different designs, purposes, and oftentimes kits as well. I appreciate the effort to reach out to staff for trivia before posting it, but please fully consider next time if the trivia you want to provide actually will give a reader more understanding on the subject in a way that could actually help them understand the purpose and history of the weapon or using it. I thought for certain that when User:OrderSquid38 said that I didn't need an admin's approval to make those edits, that meant it was safe for me to make them. And I need to see an example of a trivia change that I made that was "outright wrong."
I would still like to know how to merge two pages, in the event that I actually do discover two or more pages-that are not necessarily about weapons-that probably should be merged.

Forgot to mention: I also would like to remove the trivia point on the Custom Jet Squelcher's page that says it is tied with the Squeezer, Dynamo Roller and Clash Blaster for the cheapest Sting Ray at 180p, because it's no longer true: the Splatoon 2 Custom Jet Squelcher now needs 190p. Requesting staff members to further directly explain to you which precise trivia points are causing issues is borderline absurd; as already explained, the problem is all trivia points you are adding as a whole to any article regarding any weapon/weapon kit, not any individual points. Most of your edits are trivia section additions that, as Trig lined out, are overall unhelpful. Focusing on trivia section editing is bad practice; please focus your editing efforts elsewhere. Please stop adding weapon kit related trivia points altogether.
Your attitude here and on Heddy's page (wherein you sent a list of trivia points you intend to add, asking for point by point approval) seem to show you intend to continue making trivia section edits despite that being the reason for your initial block; if you continue disregarding staff's direct instructions, another block may be placed on your account. Reverting undos

On the page Jump Station I undid your trivia edit since it was falsly informing about it being the only sttion without enemies etc., which you undid. Octo Expansion featured multiple stations where enemies are not present. Most of them are box-shooting based with One-Shot Station being a well known example. From now on I advice discussing with editors beforehand because undoing an undo is certainly not the way to handle situations like this.   Perfectionist   (talk) 01:43, 29 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I think you need to be reading them more carefully. The trivia point I made was that Jump Station was the only station with no enemies AND no way to trigger the "test failed." It is true that many shooting-based levels have no enemies in them, but most of these levels in return have a way to trigger the "test failed." An example of this is G5: Bustalicious Station. In this station, the player fails the mission if a fail balloon is popped.
There are also many stations with no grounds for immediate failure, but as tradeoff, enemies are usually present in these stations. And some of them are even built around enemies, such as I8: Radio Station.
I could reword this trivia point to say that Jump Station is the only station with neither any enemies nor any grounds for immediate failure. That way, it's more clear that it's the only station that meets both those criterias. What do you think? AlexD830 (talk) 02:40, 29 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
In this case the problem seems to have been rooted in a simple initial misunderstanding of what the trivia point was attempting to say, but Perfectionist is correct that proper procedure if you believe an edit has been incorrectly removed would be to simply discuss it, rather than engaging in what could be seen as the early signs of edit warring (I will note you have been warned about this kind of behavior by staff before).
