Skype

Hey, Christopher! At Inkipedia, we use a Skype group chat to keep in touch and up-to-date. Would you be interested in joining? - ShrimpPin 03:25, 26 July 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Unfortunately, I don't have a microphone, so I won't be able to participate. --Christopher Fritz (talk) 03:41, 26 July 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It's simply a text chat (there are 30 of us there, currently, so voice chat would be a mess anyway!), so I wouldn't worry about not having a microphone. :) - ShrimpPin 04:04, 26 July 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Shows what I know about Skype! I'll see if I can install it, but I hear the Linux version is outdated/buggy. If I don't show up on there, you'll know I wasn't successful. Christopher Fritz (talk) 04:11, 26 July 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Any luck? - ShrimpPin 02:15, 5 August 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Skype for Linux was too unstable, and caused problems with other programs for me, so I had to uninstall it. If the chat ever migrates to IRC however, I might turn up again, as there are tons of good IRC clients out there. --Christopher Fritz (talk) 02:49, 5 August 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Noticed you've been doing a lot of awesome work lately, particular with images and new articles. Figured you deserve one of these. Cheers! ~SuperHamster Talk 04:22, 29 July 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Voting

It looks like you either haven't voted on GuyPerfect's request for rights, Lumoshi's demotion, or both. Please consider reading those issues and voting on them! Thanks, NepetaLast (talk)

Image Licensing

Yo I love all the images you've been uploading, but I just realized a lot of them are "public domain". Aren't they supposed to be "fair use", since they're copyrighted? --Bzeep (talk) 03:49, 6 August 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

That may be debatable, but I'm not certain for screenshots I took myself of a copyrighted game. I'll start putting Fair Use on them from now on, as that's a safe choice. --Christopher Fritz (talk) 04:32, 6 August 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yeah, image licensing stuff is kind of weird, but the one thing I know for sure is that screenshots are Fair Use. And only because, like, it tells you on the Upload File page. Heh. --Bzeep (talk) 13:50, 6 August 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
To clarify copyright on these things: If you take a screenshot of a game, your screenshot is still displaying a game that someone else created - so it's still subject to the original creator's copyright, and should be marked as fair use :) ~SuperHamster Talk 16:48, 9 August 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Patroller

Hey Christopher! You've been doing a lot of good work on the wiki (and you clearly know what you're doing!), so I've granted you Patroller rights. This means that your own edits are marked as patrolled, you can patroll others' edits, and you now have access to the rollback tool. Keep up the great work! ~SuperHamster Talk 16:50, 9 August 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Renumbering quotes

What's this renumbering the squid sisters quote about? I'm trying to fill all the italian counterparts of the english quotes and do it in the same order of the english ones, but while the english quotes are the same, you swapped all the italian quotes around and changed the version number (for example, the now-first italian quote in Urchin Underpass is about the birds and it's number 10 in english and version 1 that you edited with version 2). Please tell me if there's some logic behind it, because I'm still trying to fill all the italian quotes in the exact number, so for the moment I'll swap the italian quotes with the original english order.

On second thought, I'm too lazy to do that. I added a quote to walley warehouse and reverted the quotes numbering from that map and arowana mall, and that's as far as I care, as you probably gonna have some explanation for the re-numbering anyway. Just let me know.LittleSkullKid (talk) 17:32, 18 August 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

There were four reasons I renumbered the quotes:
1) Sorting quotes alphabetically by the first word in Callie's dialogue makes for a cleaner list of quotes/easier to find a specific quote. This can't be done if we week the version 1.0.0 quotes numbered before the version 2.0.0 quotes.
2) Having non-English quotes be sorted in the same order as the English quotes means they cannot be sorted alphabetically.
3) Matching the template numbering makes adding quotes a bit more cumbersome. (I've seen a few instances where a quote was added with a comment like, "I don't know what number this quote should be.")
4) I originally used the English quotes as a basis for the non-English quotes, to make it easier to see which quotes were missing. This wasn't as useful as I expected, as usually when I see a non-English quotes screenshot on Miiverse, it's easier to look on the stage's page to see if it's already on there.
Please disregard trying to match the numbering. Just fill in new quotes at the bottom, and occasionally I will run a script to alphabetize them. I apologize for any inconvenience I've caused as I'm trying working out how best to organize and display the Squid Sister quotes. All the quotes you've added is very much appreciated!

Fair reasoning. I'll keep adding quotes and various localization bits, but I hope that in the future - read that as "when all the non-english quotes are collected" - they will be re-arranged to follow the english quotes, as that order will help to catalogue how each sentence was translated by comparing it to the english ones. Alphabetization is certainly useful during the WIP anyway, so I'll re-arrange the Walley Warehouse and Arowana Mall back to your previous order.--LittleSkullKid (talk) 16:15, 19 August 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

German quote translation in Flounder Heights

Hey, while fixing the translation I noticed that you asked if one line is missing the first line. IIRC, this should be correct. "Eine" (a/an) can be shortened to 'ne when speaking. This is a bit unusual when writing so that's why it can look a bit weird. TimeWalker (talk) 18:47, 5 September 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Current Stages

It seems that the Current Stages template hasn't been updating since August 21st. I'd be ecstatic to put it on the front page, because it seemed to be working very well! Do you have any idea what happened? -ShrimpPinsig.pngSquidIcon.pngShrimpPinTalk.png 21:42, 7 September 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Somehow I never saw this message of yours. (Mario Maker's been keeping me busy.) I disabled the script because I hadn't added in support for Splatfest, and wasn't certain how I would handle it. (This was before the English SplatNet debuted, but same difference there during Splatfest.) If you're interested, I can provide you with the script, in case you or someone wants to put it on Inkipedia's server (or another server) with their own NNID credentials, and set it up on a cronjob to update every so often.
