Hints for improvement

I welcome you to Inkipedia, but also I have 3 points to note. Before you save your changes, take a second look at possible errors and the general structure of the sentences. Then write an edit summary to briefly note the changes in a few words. Lastly, I need to point out the gender section on the Shiver Page. Due to the hot topic this Page has become we are not changing this section without talking about it on talk:Shiver first. We have now had 3 cases where we had to remove your additions and with a short discussion on the talk page we could have informed you that firstly we do not use phrases like "...could indicate..." in this section, as well as the fact that men can also wear a sarashi, usually in the belly region but still not excluded. Spoilers

Hi Spring Sprinkle Princess, I saw your edit to DJ Octavio which included information that has not been revealed yet. Please wait until the game has been released before adding information like this.  GX_64 (talk)  03:58, 4 September 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Oh! Sorry. Thanks for fixing it. ~~~~Spring Sprinkle Princess Spring Sprinkle Princess (talk) 04:00, 4 September 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Splatfest dialogue translation

Hey, it looks like you re-added your removed English translation of the Japanese announcement dialogue for Nessie vs. Aliens vs. Bigfoot. Reverting such edits is not allowed unless you've discussed with others on if the removed information is OK to re-add, or you're able to prove the information's accuracy. In your case, the translation was removed for being very low quality. In my non-expert opinion, the translation you provided seems to be full of mistakes, bordering on a machine translation; we have many experienced translators working on Inkipedia, so it's best to leave the translation field blank and wait for someone else to complete it rather than fill them with a machine translation. Please try to not do this again. Thanks! Yoshifan52 (talk) 01:38, 31 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Oh, sorry for that! I didn't know what I was doing, and my internet keeps getting down. Thanks for letting me know! Hyper Princess (talk) 03:04, 31 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I'm not sure what internet would have to do with it. On your userpage you say you speak Japanese, but looking at the "translations" you added makes me, honestly, a bit skeptical of that claim... Or are you relying solely on online dictionaries to find out the meanings of words (instead of any of your own knowledge), which leads to very incorrect translations? This is especially true in the context of this game, since Splatoon features a lot of coined & domain-specific language; Google Translate and similar don't know what to do with it in the slightest. Machine translation is bad in general, and especially bad for this game. We have multiple people on the wiki who have been doing translation for the series for years (since 2015!) – and temporarily having no translation is better than filling an article with egregious errors (particularly for popular pages with high viewcounts for current in-game events). If you could hold off and let others provide these translations going forward that would be great. –Eli (talk) 04:24, 31 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Your edits on the Flounder Heights/Quotes page

Please stop editing the first quote on this page to be shared between the American and European regions; you've already done so twice. I have verified that line does differ between the two localizations. I'm contacting you here to prevent further edit warring; your re-edit of my correction is considered disruptive and is against policy.

Furthermore, I don't mean to be rude, but regarding the above topic you posted and your lack of reply to my previous notice: you are editing a public wiki. It is reasonable to expect you to answer questions regarding your wiki edits publicly, rather than in Discord DMs, as that's how editing disputes are typically resolved. Believe it or not, when it comes to wiki editing, I have eyesight problems with similar text.Hyper 21:28, 17 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Oh, I see; you have my sympathies. Make sure to always take care to double-check your in progress edits. It's a good idea to quickly check over what the last edits made to any given page were to verify if others have recently handled something similar to your edit. Hope this helps! Manga pages

Hello Hyper Princess! I have noticed that you are working very hard to expand the Manga pages with new content. However, many of the pages you are making have been left very incomplete, with no signs of being completed. If you would like to create a new page, please make sure you add enough content to make it look somewhat complete. If you cannot add enough content, I would suggest adding the character to the List of Splatoon manga characters, as it clearly doesn't warrant it's own page. Thanks, and keep up the good work! Moved

I have moved Wireglasses to a draft page in your userspace: User:Hyper Princess/Wireglasses. Please fill out more information here before re-integrating it as a mainspace page. Thanks! Trig - 02:20, 6 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thanks for moving it! I figured from the Discord that it would happen eventually. I'll add more info. Hyper 02:22, 6 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Machine translation warning

Hello Hyper Princess. I noticed that most of your recent translation edits included what are very clearly machine translations. This is your final warning to stop adding machine translations to the wiki. We have editors who are fluent in these languages who will add accurate translations, while Google Translate and other machine translators provide highly inaccurate translations. In the future, please only add translations for languages in which you are completely fluent. (Romanizations count as translation edits). Thanks! EminenceTalk 23:27, 6 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I'd like to add that your generally uncooperative attitude whenever staff asks you questions, or to stop doing certain things, especially in the Discord chat, is another factor taken into account towards sending you this final warning. Yoshifan52 (talk) 23:46, 6 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Missing source for amiibo images

Hello, I noticed you uploaded several images without a source, such as File:S3 amiibo Big Man.jpg. Can you please add a source to all the amiibo images you recently uploaded? I'm assuming this twitter post is the source, but only you as the uploader would know for sure where you got the image. Source-less images will be deleted if not sourced within a reasonable amount of time, so please add the source as soon as it's convenient for you. Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you! Heddy (talk) 23:28, 17 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I'll go add those. Thanks! Hyper 23:35, 17 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Adding Sources to Files

Hi there, I reverted or undid all of your edits where you added "self" as the source to files. We do not guess who created files uploaded, even if it seems obvious. Please only add "self" to files that you created and uploaded, or you have confirmation from the uploader. Thank you! FancyRat 01:18, 22 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Block

The user, Hyper Princess, has been blocked from editing the wiki for 1 month.

Reason for block: ignoring talkpage message warnings, inaccurate machine translations. You have been warned repeatedly and blocked once prior for this. If you have any questions, you may reply to this talk message or message on Discord.
Blocking administrator: Trig Jegman (talk | contribs) 22:40, December 21, 2023 (UTC)

While you are blocked, you can still read the wiki, but cannot make any changes.

Please do not remove this notice from your talk page.

About the recent page you made

hiya, i just want to confirm that the you recent page you made under the name of User:Hyper Princess/Bankalive Gou at Nintendo, <--- (this page needs to be deleted) because the Bankalive Gou at Nintendo already has a section under the Live performances page and clearly you stole that section of the page and made your own page with information that clearly is not yours to begin with, i sincerely apologies. Florescent (talk) 06:10, 27 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

There is nothing wrong with copying info, verbatim if need be, from existing pages on the wiki; editors freely license any text they add to Inkipedia to be copied or modified as suits our purposes (see INK:COPY). There is no "stealing" and this is not a deletion-worthy offense.
Additionally, other performances on the live performances page have their own dedicated pages (linked from that page), so if a page for Bankalive Gou can be sufficiently filled out with additional information beyond what was copied (which at this rate will probably mean waiting at least until the prerecorded performance is available), moving it to mainspace will be fine. Please do not edit wiki images

Hey Hyper Princess, it appear you've uploaded images in which you've edited out a label (1 2 3). Per policy, wiki-related images (non-user images) are expected to be unedited; edited versions may be approved after discussion, but in this case the edits were messily done and unnecessary. Splatfest dialogues formatting

Hi! I just wanted to ask you to not use the dialogue format of Splatoon 2 Splatfest dialogues when documenting Splatoon 3 Splatfest dialogues. For Off the Hook dialogues, the wiki used to specify which of Marina's lines were said first, but since Deep Cut has three whole members that speak before each other and sometimes interrupt each other much more oftenly, the same formatting looks very messy and thus isn't used anymore. Instead, we break their lines into two whenever Frye speaks before Shiver and whenever Big Man speaks before Shiver and Frye. Here's an example from Baby Chicks vs. Li'l Bunnies vs. Bear Cubs:

Incorrect
Dialogue Dialogue Region
Shiver

“Can we take a step back? What does
"fuzzy fluffiness" mean in this context?”
Big Man

“Ay. Ay! (Too bad only the baby chicks
aren't extinct now. They're all so cute!)”
Notes: Big Man speaks first.
Shiver

“Why, it seems so stunningly obvious when
you put it like that.”
Frye

“Oh, I got this one! "Fuzzy" means soft.
And so does "fluffy." Does that help?”
Notes: Frye speaks first.
Correct
Dialogue Dialogue Region

Big Man

“Ay. Ay! (Too bad only the baby chicks
aren't extinct now. They're all so cute!)”
Shiver

“Can we take a step back? What does
"fuzzy fluffiness" mean in this context?”

Frye

“Oh, I got this one! "Fuzzy" means soft.
And so does "fluffy." Does that help?”
Shiver

“Why, it seems so stunningly obvious when
you put it like that.”

Even though Shiver and Big Man speak in the same 5th turn before the player would press A to continue, Big Man speaks before Shiver, and thus their piece of dialogue is split in BM5 and S6, and so Frye's next line will be F7 instead of F6, and Shiver's will be S8 instead of S6. That's the format we're using throughout the whole history of Splatoon 3 Splatfests. I sincerely ask you to stick to it, and I hope the provided examples will be helpful for any future edits you may contribute for the Splatfest dialogues! Cheers. signatureMilchik (talk) 13:07, 13 April 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Erroneous 30 second trims of audio files

Hey Hyper Princess, I noticed you uploaded trimmed versions of 3 audio files (1] 2] 3); please note that the process for trimming the audio per the new guidelines entails having access to the games' audio files and means of extracting then trimming the songs with very precise specifications. Your uploads do not follow the new audio guidelines' bitrate limitation of 160kbps (as they range from 245kbps to 266kbps), suggesting you have not followed the permitted extraction methods. As an example, simply downloading our current full uploads and trimming them to 30sec unfortunately does not suffice.

I understand you've made these edits with the intent to help out with an ongoing cleanup project, but by not following the rules properly you have created further cleanup work for us. To help out in this instance you must have access to the game files; if you don't have access, you cannot participate in this cleanup task. If you do have access and would like to learn the proper methods for trimming the audio, do reply here and I'll explain the process we have been using at the moment, so you can trim the audio correctly.

Your tendency to not respond to staff inquiries has been generally noted; if you continue to upload erroneous audio trims following this warning message, you may be blocked from editing for the third time. The necessity of this many blocks against your account to prevent you from making mistaken edits may result in staff considering placing a long-term block against your account. Yoshifan52 (talk) 06:53, 30 October 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

First of all, I'd like to apologize for my tendency to not respond to staff messages. Sometimes, I genuinely don't know how to respond to them. Then there's also time zone differences and events happening in real life. Please note that this is not a personal thing.
As for the issue of trimming the audio files, that is on me. I didn't realize about the policy that an editor needed direct access to the games files for the trimming until you pointed it out to me.
With that in mind, I won't touch the audio section of the wiki's current cleanup project until further notice. Do you have any possible alternatives I could work on that could also be beneficial to Inkipedia as a whole?
Sincerely,
Hyper 13:54, 30 October 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thank you for clarifying 😎 The current first entry over on our current projects page, converting instances of internal names to use the new template, sounds like something you could help out with if you're interested. It doesn't require access to the internal files or any specialized knowledge, all you'd have to do is open a link from the spreadsheet, see if that page has an internal name listing within the localized name template, and if it does, convert that to use the new internal name template. Here's one such edit I've made to help demonstrate. Note that figuring out adding to the "meaning" section is not very pressing, the priority is shifting to the new template. Thanks for inquiring! If you need any help understanding or performing such cleanup feel free to let me know. Yoshifan52 (talk) 20:03, 30 October 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
