User talk:Octopedia/Poll

From Inkipedia, the Splatoon wiki
Latest comment: 7 May 2023 by Xando

This is a poll for making a fan discussion forum. See this for details.

Support

1. I believe this will benifit the wiki but I will not take part in it. Not a fan of talk pages. Octopedia(Sandbox) 15:14, 6 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Oppose

  1. Oppose: Just make a Discord account and join the official one, it's free and doesn't cost anything to make one. 🦑InkBerry🍓Talk 17:38, 6 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  2. Oppose for the same reason.--Miss Delibirda (talk) 17:39, 6 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  3. Oppose per InkBerry's reasoning. Creating such forums would be far more effort than its worth I imagine, I also find you requesting people to vote on this via their talk pages strange. People will vote if they want to vote. - Harristic (talk) 17:43, 6 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  4. Oppose: It's a nice idea in theory, but in practice it will require a lot of time and resources to create and maintain. Char (talk) 17:50, 6 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  5. Opposing as well, cannot really see a need for this. A wiki isn't first and foremost a social medium, but a source of information. Anemoia [Talk!] 18:11, 6 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  6. Dear Octopedia: The tribe has spoken. No. Sincerely, Trig Jegman (patroller) - 18:13, 6 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  7. I oppose as well. I don't really see a need for this. Number 1, we already have the Discord server, and number 2, like Anemoia stated, (with all due respect) a wiki is a place where people get information, not a social media platform. WolfTamer 19:12, 6 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  8. I oppose with the same reasons as the above comments. The Inkipedia Discord server is sufficient to use as a forum place. Jelly Cat (talk) 19:27, 6 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  9. I agree with everyone above. You can use discord and talk pages to communicate with users. You can even email users by clicking the "Email User Name" button when on their user page. (Some users do have this feature disabled). Puppet!! (talk) 13:40, 7 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Neutral

1. I think this could help the wiki, but it does depend on the type of fan discussion that would be on there. It'll also stop the common trend of people correcting new people on the main page's discussion section. Rat L. Boy 15:36, 6 May 2023 (UTC [I might be wrong about the time])

Discussion

"The whole point of this is so users who don't have Discord can have fun with fan discussion and stuff" (said by you on Ink Pump before removing it).

Discord is free. - Harristic (talk) 15:00, 6 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Bulbagarden having a forum isn't a good argument for one to be needed here. An addition this large needs a stronger argument. - Harristic (talk) 17:58, 6 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Did you know user talk pages are also completely free and already well integrated into the site? Trig Jegman - 18:13, 6 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Harristic Bulbagarden is a well functioning website organization and the forums are part of that. Octopedia(Sandbox) 18:16, 6 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Okay. - Harristic (talk) 18:18, 6 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Discord is free, yes. But some people cannot just access it like that, such as me. Along with that, Discord may not be compatible with some people's devices, so your argument is therefore irrelevant. -Random 03:27, 7 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Discord is compatible with all devices. Also, although it stinks that you can't access discord, it's just not worth creating a fan forum just for the small minority that don't have discord and don't want to use talk pages. -Xando (talk) 14:39, 7 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
