Special Splatfest is a title given to certain Splatfest events in the Splatoon series. The qualifications for what makes a Splatfest considered "special" vary from game to game and event to event; generally, Splatfest events that feature drastic cosmetic changes are considered "major" special Splatfests, contrast collaboration Splatfests and Splatfests with other minor differences from standard events, which are considered "minor".

Major Special Splatfests, in contrast to regular Splatfests, feature cosmetic alterations to the hub worlds, unique costumes for the performing Idols, global region coverage, increased duration and/or unique tie-in merch.
