The in-game tutorial helps new players learn the basic controls and techniques of Splatoon for online battles and Hero Mode missions. Upon starting up the game for the first time, players are able to customize their Inkling character. Players choose the gender, skin tone, and eye color of their Inkling character before moving on to the tutorial.

Audio

• Tutorial music by Squid Squad, a less intense version of Splattack!
  • In fact, this is the only area in the entire game that plays this song in particular. An even less intense looped version can be heard in the Testing Area.

Trivia

• A downed UFO can be found in the area with enemy ink. This is presumably the same UFO the Squid Sisters mention in the beginning of the game.
• A slightly altered version of the map can be found in the Hero Mode Mission Unidentified Flying Object.
