The Basic Tee is available at the start of both games.

Appearance
The Basic Tee is a yellow short-sleeved shirt. The print on the chest appears to be a logo, while the tag is triangular and white. On the wearer's chest is a purple pin with a green and yellow starfish design on it.
Abilities
The Basic Tee comes with Lua error in Module:Ability at line 29: attempt to concatenate local 'linkText' (a nil value). as a main Ability. As a 1-star item, it also has one slot for a secondary Ability. Trivia
- The symbols on the shirt in Splatoon loosely resemble the Japanese word for "Squid" (いか).
- The starfish pin worn with the shirt is a reference to the Japanese Wakaba mark, a symbol representing anything having to do with beginners. This is fitting considering the fact that the Basic Tee is the first piece of clothing received by new players.
