Fly Octo Fly is a song performed by Off the Hook.
Description
Fly Octo Fly is a manic and intense electronic pop song played during the final boss battle of the Octo Expansion. The track lasts almost exactly two minutes in-game and transitions into Ebb & Flow (Octo) for the final minute of the battle.
Following a short introduction, Marina and Pearl trade verses of eight measures, with Marina singing on the bridge and Pearl rapping her second verse. After a second bridge with Pearl's rapped interjections and a final verse, the song modulates into G major for the intro to Ebb & Flow (Octo). In-game, the two songs are included as one track by the name of Fly Octo Fly ~ Ebb & Flow (Octo). However, it is separated from Ebb & Flow (Octo) in the Octotune album.
Fly Octo Fly ~ Ebb & Flow (Octo) made its only appearance in multiplayer battles during the third and final day of the Chaos vs. Order Splatfest, where it was the only possible battle theme. The music played in full during the three minutes, including replacing Now or Never! in the process. Notably, the only Shifty Station it could play on (MC.Princess Diaries) is within visible distance of the NILS Statue from the Octo Expansion.
In Splatoon 3, the song can be heard in the jukebox as of Version 7.0.0 if the Splatoon 3: Expansion Pass has been downloaded.
Lyrics
The booklet included with Octotune gives the official lyrics for Fly Octo Fly. The lyrics are nonsensical; the Japanese hiragana and katakana simply give the pronunciation. According to a Famitsu interview,[1] the former is used to indicate Pearl's lyrics in Inkling language, whereas the latter is used to indicate Marina's lyrics in Octarian language.

Other versions
Fly Octo Fly (Live)
During live concerts starring only Off the Hook, a slightly extended version of Fly Octo Fly is used. Although each performance is different due to the live bands, they retain the same strong structure. The track opens with Marina singing the song's main chant to the audience, with them repeating it and Pearl interjecting, for around thirty seconds before the normal start of the song. The rest of the song is performed as normal, but with an outro and ending given to the song to finish.
Samples and interpolations
Pinging Marciale
During the Pinging Marciale's bossfight its voice clips create a very distorted version of Fly Octo Fly's chorus.[2]
